  1. thinking about how megaman ports huge chunks of its history to new collections for modern hardware regularly to much acclaim from fans but you need a thesis statement to explain to sonic fans why archiving a game they don't particularly like is a good thing

      look

idc how much you like it

sonic labyrinth should never be ported

the world doesn't need that kind of negativity

Part of the issue is that there's a high enough number of Sonic games with enough variance in both quality and mechanics that it's a bit unlikely you'd see as comprehensive a collection as Mega Man's gotten so people feel like they need to fight for the ones they like specifically over all others.

Like if they did Sonic Legacy Collections they could do 1, 2, CD, 3K and maybe Chaotix, right? But then, Megaman X5, X6, X7 and X8 had at least two good games in there, and two that, while bad, weren't received the way 06 or Shadow were in the US. So assuming you didn't breach the 7th gen console era, you'd end up with a collection of SA1, SA2, Heroes, Shadow and maybe Shuffle. 2 games that are hotly debated as to whether they're good, and 3 that pretty much everyone outside the fandom calls total crap. It wouldn't make much sense business-wise and that's even making the assumption that the SA ports were actually good for once.

You'd be better off "remaking" them such that they get completely reimagined, just with similar settings, and releasing it as one game, Crash/Spyro style.

Okay well if you're so smart you explain how it'd be beneficial to anyone other than "hey now I can see SADX's shittiness on my switch"

It's still blows my mind relatively well recieved games like Colors get no ports whatsoever

I speak from the perspective of a sonic fan and not a pseudo executive spouting pseudo economics from his computer chair, but I just think it'd be neat

Seriously guys only 3 games in the MMX series are considered to be good while the rest are considered to range from mid - outright bad.

A lot of mega man fans hate Zero and ZX but they’re not angry that the collection exist. I don’t get why it’s so difficult for Sonic fans. It’s not like you have to buy it seriously.

Mega Man fans support-da-ports in hopes of renewing interesting in the franchise like with Mega Man 11, so if they ask nicely (with their wallets, obviously) they just might get their MMX 9 and, of course, Legends 3.

Also, unlike Sonic, Mega Man isn't the one who doesn't even own the rights to half of their dogdamn classic series.

      @Soniman

Only the first game is considered the magnum opus in the same way 3'n'K was Sonic's.

My needs have been the same since day bloody one.

      Unleashed. PC.

I don't care what they do after that. Could make LW part 2 or some shit

Am I supposed to care about whether something would be a good decision for the series, or not? Because last time I decided not to, I kinda felt pushed away by all the wisp discourse and "these characters have fallen so far" and doom-mongering and "this is where the ROOT of the series' management problems will lie FOREVERRR" in the discussion threads here.
