  1. Hey, how's everyone doing?

    1. E-122-Psi

The same as usual at this point. Mostly fine if kinda bored. You?

  2. Happy birthday! (Even though, you're probably not gonna see this message.)

    1. Crash

      Thank you!

  3. Which version of Gems Collection is better? PS2 or GameCube?

    1. TheOcelot

I doubt there's much difference. I had the PS2 version which played fine. The GameCube was more powerful than PS2.

    2. Person

Whenever faced with this decision, always go GameCube.

Every Sonic game with a PS2 port always ends up better on the other consoles.

Except Chamber of Secrets. The GC version lacks a lot of what makes the PS2 version so fun.

    4. Mr Loopone

      Mr Loopone

Only thing really seperating the two is to do with Sonic R. Gamecube version is 4 player while PS2 version is 2 player. Apart from that, there doesn't seem to have much differences and I have the PS2 version.

I don't know if the Japanese exclusive games/JP Sonic CD soundtrack are still in the PAL PS2 disc and require an Action Replay to activate them. They are removed on the GC version. If you can, then PS2. If you can't, it doesn't matter.

Gamecube has a shoddy d-pad, so I'd say the PS2 one is better on that alone.

  4. What's up?

    1. FriendBot

      Alive unlike the Crash franchise.

    2. E-van

      Next year, Soni. Next year.

    3. FriendBot

Crash is still dead, remastering old games doesn't count

    4. Motwera

      It's a remake, Kabalni

      Don't be such a pessimist :v

    3. Dipsy

      Coco Bandicoot is bae.

  6. Sonic Adventure 2 The Sonic and Shadow levels are great and the soundtrack is one of my favourites in the entire series. However, I can't find much enjoyment from the rest of the game. The mech stages are really, really boring to me and I find absolutely no enjoyment from them and some of them drag on for far too long in my opinion. I don't hate the treasure hunting stages too much, I think the Knuckles levels are fun and they don't take too long to finish. The Rouge levels aren't that great to me though. I do enjoy some of the stages such as Dry Lagoon and Security Hall but the rest feel like they go on for far too long. The other thing that stops me from enjoying this game is the story. I personally much prefer Sonic stories that are more lighthearted which is why Unleashed and Heroes are more enjoyable stories to me. The story in SA2 tries to take itself seriously yet has a scene where the moon gets destroyed. Half of my problem with SA2's story is that it wants you to take it seriously yet has more cartoony moments that seem out of place. Another part of the game I don't understand the love for is the Chao Garden. I like playing Sonic games to go fast with some platforming. The Chao Garden is a lot more slower paced and whilst I know some people love raising chao and breeding them to create even cooler Chao, I just couldn't enjoy it very much. Overall, Sonic Adventure 2 is a game that I really do want to enjoy. Lots of people hold in high regard but I've never understood the praise for it.

      Hello Mr Bandicoot.

  9. Time to play some more Unleashed! It's quickly becoming my favourite 3D sonic game.

    1. Kiah

      Have fun! :)

    2. E-van

I love Unleashed, it's definitely one of my favorite Sonic games.

  10. What is your favourite level from the 3D Sonic games?

    1. Red

Jungle Joyride Day, Sonic Unleashed HD.

    2. Forte-Metallix

      Green Hill in Generations.

    3. Crash

@Lhancat That's one of my favourite stages too.

  11. What levels would you like to see in a Generations sequel? I would love to see Hill Top Zone, Kingdom Valley and Jungle Joyride.

    1. Jack / Joker

      Jack / Joker

green hill, hill top, angel island, emerald coast, green hill, seaside hill, wave ocean, jungle joyride, planet wisp, green hill, windy hill

    2. Big Panda

      Big Panda

Scrap Brain, Palmtree Panic, Launch Base, Lava Reef, Windy Valley, Final Rush, Rail Canyon.

  12. One thing that I forgot about whilst replaying Unleashed recently is how annoying the Sun and Moon medals can be. It took me over an hour to unlock Chun-Nan Day.

  13. Hello everybody. How are we all today?

    1. Kiah

Hi! I'm okay, thanks. How is everything with you? :)

  14. What is your favourite Sonic game and why?

    1. TCB

Because every other answer you may get is objectively wrong and you can't convince me otherwise

    2. Strickerx5

      Not even Sonic 3&K TCB?

... is this really the current state we're in. DX

    3. Daisy-Fan

S3&K and Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure.

    4. TCB

3&K ain't got SHEEEEEEIT on the exhilarating action, gameplay and everything in between of Sanicball wat you smokin'

    5. PickleBrows

I think it might be HD Unleashed for me. I find the gameplay really fun but it's the game's sense of scale, world-building and overall polish. You actually feel like you're on this big worldwide adventure. You actually get to know the locals of the continents (if you choose to) and they've all got something unique about them and stories to flesh them out to the extent that some even travel to other continents as part of their motivations.

And don't get me started on the soundtrack!

    6. Daisy-Fan

I forgot to explained as you asking in your question too. But Sonic 3 and Knuckle feel like very good successful  sequel if you enjoyed Sonic 2 or CD. i can say the same stories for the Rush series but i do believe there a minority enjoyed this game, here at SSMB. so its totally different opinions. What really turn me with rush games was the fast paste when it come to gameplay mobility, kinda like Advance 3. But the boost did indeed help-out. if you enjoyed Rush play and multiplayer. Rush Adventure did have online Vs. and my mind, this was very actually fun!

    7. Kiah

Sonic Unleashed. The gameplay, the cutscenes, Sonic's characterization, the soundtrack, the massive amount of content, love and dedication put into it by Sonic Team and the excitement of Sonic going on a worldwide adventure for starters. This game had so much I enjoyed that I felt like I underpaid what I got out of it. It's an absolute delight for me. Not only is Sonic Unleashed my favorite Sonic game, it's my favorite video game of ALL TIME :)

  15. What's the general opinion on Unleashed now? Personally, I really enjoy the game. It has great graphics, great gameplay and one of my favourite stories in a Sonic game.

    1. PC the Hedgehog

      PC the Hedgehog

Really enjoyed it. Sonic gameplay was most solid since Adventure 2, and it was the last "main" Sonic game that actually tried to tell a decent story. Even the Werehog was fun, though there was still too much of him.

    2. shdowhunt60

Where most Sonic games seem to be victims of hindsight, Unleashed appears to be the exact opposite. I think people are kind of becoming aware now that Unleashed got a ton of shit it just flat out did not deserve.

    3. Speeps

I feel the only reason it got shit on was because the backlash from 06 was still in full force at the time.

I mean, if fishing stages, mech stages and heroes' "play the game four times to unlock this boss" could pass through the release of their game pretty well at the time, why else would all the reviewers act like the werehog and the medal hunting brought the entire game down?

The Werehog isn't even bad. Sure, Night Battle A was annoying to hear every 10 seconds but taking a look at the level design itself it's not bad at all. It's one of the most solid alternate gameplay styles in the 3D games.

I despise how the PS2/Wii version got higher ratings than the 360/PS3 version. If you're complaining about the Werehog, why give the game with more Werehog levels the better score?

Ultimately I just find this game fucking depressing to look at now because you can see the amount of effort that was poured into the game and tossed aside.

    4. The Deleter

      The Deleter

It's hard to say that Unleashed didn't deserve all the flack it gets when it's only people who play the game's levels several times after finishing the game that say it's good.

I mean sure, the daytime stages are pretty great straight off the bat, but the medal collecting, tornado levels, underpowered werehog, surprise QTEs, and forced gameplay switching for such different playstyles make the game way too much of a slog to get through to be any fun.

Playing the game's individual stages again, I've found the game to be incredibly fun overall, but going through it on the first try was an absolute chore, and I think a lot of Sonic fans are forgetting that when looking back at the game now.

    5. Ellipsis-Ultima

      Ah Unleashed.

      Great gameplay.

And I REALLY LOVE the story and Sonic's characterization there.

      Also the music.

      Lets not forget the music!
