Wait, we're in page 248. Crossover with another thread until 251?

The "Name Something About The Lara-Su Chronicles' Copyright Ken Penders  Pre-Release Stuff You've Actually Enjoyed" Topic.

So many heads will explode that by the time we get to 251 we will have mirrored the comic's character removal.

  2. I just want to know if they actually had to find someone who could do that laugh, or if they'll use recordings of Tom Kenny and just, I don't know, attach a tiny speaker to the actor's shirt or something.

Edit: Or, I guess, he could just have a different laugh. I dunno, I always kind of saw it as iconic so I presumed they'd consider it important, maybe I'm wrong.

  3. I was going to go off on a long thing about how this is not how you do a group shot, but apparently he was just trying to show how tall they are in comparison to each other, so, slightly less terrible than I feared.

On a different note, if I was Lara-Su I'd be incredibly angry that Geoffrey got the luxury of actual shorts.

  4. I've been turned off from this film since the first trailer. Them making such a huge deal out of her doing something that happened in the first film already, and the way Marlin's managed to become such an amazingly chill person he's perfectly okay with the idea Dory might just swim off, both irritated me.

And yes, I know character development dictates Marlin not be overly protective anymore. That doesn't mean he has to be a moron.

On one hand, it's pretty cool that they've managed to get the original cast back

    Is this not the norm?

Also, you say "managed" as if the star hasn't been begging for this for years, and million dollar checks weren't involved.

  5. I'm not sure if the fangames go in this thread, sorry if they don't, but one of the bigger name, better quality (you know, relatively) ones released its sequel like three hours ago.

    Five Nights at Candy's 2.

I played Night 1 and just spent the whole time switching Candy between two rooms. And because a couple hundred bucks wasn't a stupid enough reason to risk your life for five nights, now we have "Do it or be seen as a chicken!".

  6. Shouldn't Chloe be a Creampuff instead of a Squirrely Scout? You could actually probably make a fairly interesting plot out of the two being in separate troops that keep running into separate problems so Cosmo and Wanda need to keep popping back and forth and ultimately can't help with everything.

Them being in the same group seems like it's kind of squashing potential a bit.

  7. Eeeeeeeh.

I'm sure I'll be alone on this, I don't really blame Timmy for his actions in the episode (I haven't watched the second one).

I mean, the poor kid had to be genuinely miserable for a chunk of his life to get his fairies, with a murderous babysitter, parents so neglectful they forget to feed him, an insane teacher and absolutely miserable grades, and constant bullying alongside having very few friends. Chloe's problems amount to "One person doesn't like her, and occasionally she messes up but no one actually cares when she does", yet she gets fairies. I'd be monumentally ticked off, too. And his actions did just amount to trying to not let her have fairies, it's not like he actually hurt her.

Not that I'm saying he took the right actions, just that I see where he was coming from and have a hard time disliking him over it.

Then again I'm not exactly a fan of the character, so I'm not an unbiased source.

Unless we're talking about some other act of meanness.

  8. I was expecting Trolls to be stupid, I wasn't expecting this specific brand of stupid.

And I'm irrationally bothered by the fact that the logo is not made to look like hair. That seems like the obvious thing to do to me.

  9. Oh right. I forgot the Halloween thing was coming out.

Well he didn't explicitly confirm but he practically did as he's confirmed MatPat was correct about virtually everything, so he might as well have since it's something MatPat's always stuck to.

Oh yes, that. I've seen that. I presume that was the part he was wrong on, because it's too damn stupid to consider.

  10. So Blue Sky's been releasing videos on what I think might be a weekly or biweekly basis going over the behind the scenes stuff, called "The Art of Dreaming Big".

The staff talk about their childhood Peanuts love, showing off the decorated studio, talking about the Peanuts museum, the director, and the animation.

Pretty interesting, IMO. Kind of wish the animation one was more in depth but I get why it's not.

  11. I really would suggest that you practice with single figures first. Just open your sketchbook and try and draw whatever little poses you can think of with generic figure. Don't bother trying to put detail on them (unless you want to), but try to get a feel for how bodies should work, practice with it for awhile. I say that because as is, they both look very stiff, and their poses are identical, which is a valid creative decision but I'm not sure if that's what you're going for here. If you're having serious trouble figuring out how thing should be placed, look up a reference. For example, here's a kiss;

Subsequently, you should probably draw the bodies and then put clothing on them, don't try to just draw clothing and then add body parts, at least for now. I'm not sure which of those you were doing, so this may be pointless to say, but to me it just helps make sure everything's connecting right and you don't have a leg that, if followed through the clothing, should be unconncected to the torso or something similar.

And they're not standing on the same level, and Sonic's arms are shorter than her's. Keep things like that in mind, look for them when drawing. Don't be afraid to take out a ruler and just draw a light little reference line to insure that they are equal.

/I'm not particularly good at drawing, anyone who is feel free to correct any of my pointers.

  12. Is adding music a thing that actual comics ever actually do? Cause it doesn't seem like a good gimmick to start with to me. Admittedly, I haven't listened to that much score and stuff, but I kind of got the impression that the point of music, most of the time, was to underscore exactly what was going on, actions and stuff like that, and you can't really do that when you can't sync up the music to the background. You could put a heavy bass type thing in the music to emphasize panic and I could still be back when things are still calm.

I mean I guess there are also those times where there are just sweeping, orchestral numbers, but those tend to be in moments where nothing much is happening (like, that iconic Jurassic Park song plays when they're all just sitting in a helicopter heading towards the island, not doing much, and we're seeing pretty landscapes), which I would hope wouldn't be in a comic.

Unless he plans to have you start up a new piece of music for each panel, or to just have this subtle melody that isn't really specific to everything playing softly. Or just have stuff playing over the menu.

Or I'm misunderstanding the point of music and scores.

  13. So that T-shirt design has got me thinking, and I attempted to re draw that...

    Hidden Content

I doubt they're in space, they're clearly on the surface of something and said something has plants. I'm guessing either just a strange sky (the island IS supposed to be floating through space), inaccurate representation for merchandising reasons (much like Lien-Da will probably not be floating in the background), or Ken not thinking things through. Also betting Mykal just never takes off the suit for whatever reason.

Let's hope that whatever composer gets chose actually gets called about his work, and not have it used without permission. Unless he's going classical, most of which is in the public domain.

I think he might be implying he got people to actually make stuff specifically for him.

  14. The colossal jerk in me wants to write the box off as Scott having absolutely no clue what to put in the thing and trying to cover his butt. Like "Well technically I never said I've include an answer to the thing in the game, so I can just tell them they haven't tried hard enough and they'll fill in the blank". You know, call me a cynic but I kind of feel like if it wasn't meant to be a teaser the guy could have incorporated it better instead of literally sitting it in a void with a spot light shined on it and letting you fiddle around with the locks.

But I realize that's conspiracy level crap.

Eh. Can't really say I'm particularly interested.

  15. Got to say, I actually really like him doing recent movies. I'm sure that's just because I was born just late enough that I'd never so much as heard of most of the stuff he did before this, but I do.

Also, the more people bashing on Pixels the better.

Edit: Having watched it now (well, tried to, it was so slow on my computer it was stuck on a still five seconds behind the audio the entire time), I think his diagnosis on why people hate the movie so much is only half right. The repeated sucking is definitely part of it, but I think it's also largely because people actually really liked the movie's concept, or at least thought it had the chance to be fun. Things like Jack and Jill, they sound bad even without knowing Sandler's attached, but this one had a chance, and I think a lot of people are kind of stung by that.

  16. After the Herman's Head crap and the few Ice Age rip off accusations I've seen thrown at Good Dinosaur, I'm used to the stupid rip off cries, people seem just really desperate to label things they make as rip offs. Coco was actually announced to the public first (as in, back when it was "the Pixar film about the Day of the Dead holiday"), but clearly only a tiny handful of people over there want to bother with research.

I'm more focused on the people complaining because Lee Unkrich isn't Mexican. Because it's bad now for people to be display an interest in other cultures, apparently. But only certain cultures, cause it's okay to have non-French and non-Scottish people make films about those countries.

Edit: Unkrich has already made several trips to Mexico to do research, for the record.

Coco's protagonist, Miguel, apparently (I'm not sure if it's been outright stated or if people are assuming).

I was hoping for something cuter, but I have no complaints. I like the simplicity in him, and how that guitar looks like it's at least as tall as his chest.

Edit: It's concept art. But, well, they bothered to display it, so everyone's assuming it's at least close to the finally product.
