Well this morning sure did start off great. This is a critical blow to the Trump administration and GOP. Interested to see where we go from here!

Dizcrybe got a reaction from MightyRay in Sonic Forces Me To Look Ahead: Where does (3D) Sonic go from here after Forces/2017?
My guess is 1) the inevitable backlash the game will get from the fans like a week after it comes out and everyone's beaten it will drive ST to think no one likes boost gameplay after all, which will prompt them to try some new weird and experimental gameplay style out of confusion and just plain not knowing WTF to do - you know how ST are ("They wanted us to go back to boost, we went back to boost, they didn't like it, IDFK, just do whatever I guess), for whatever reason people still won't like it, and we're asking this question again. You can bet the story will be super light, too. Also Wisps.
    2) they see the people that do like the game - maybe people playing Sonic for the first time - and try to cater more to them. What that involves is anyone's guess. Sooner or later, many if not most of the core fans finally get the hint and jumps ship, and a new base takes it place.
    3) They just keep going until we finally do get that 06-tier game that kills boost gameplay completely like that game did with the Adventure style, SEGA finally shafts the current Sonic Team developers in favor of fresh faces, and they try a new style (or maybe even a polished version of the Adventure style) and perfect it until people like Sonic again for five minutes.
    4) Eventually Iizuka finally notices how many people are fans of the Adventure gameplay and tries to make a game in that style. it ends up more like the Adventure version of Sonic 4 and no one likes it, and once again, we're back here.
Or finally, 5) going back to the backlash scenario, and factoring in Mani's overwhelmingly positive response, Iizuka throws his hands up and decides Sonic is a strictly 2D series from now on. Fan reaction is exactly what you'd expect it would be.
Or it could be none of these. There's honestly no way to know until the next 3D Sonic is announced. Assuming there'll be one.

There's a sixth possibility that I hadn't considered, and that's Iizuka just giving up and quitting Sonic Team, but I don't think his pride would allow him to do that.

Well, I at least wouldn't worry about Clinton running again since she's made it pretty clear she's not looking to run in 2020.

Really though, talk about QTEs being glorified cutscenes. At least in other games with QTEs you make a series of button presses. Here? Just one at the very end and you're good to go.
I really don't know why they didn't just make it a story cutscene.

Regain some faith in our generation. At Richard Spencer's speech, it looks like more than half the auditorium was occupied by protesters chanting "Fuck you, Spencer" while the other half was fairly empty.
Now I just hope all these people make a point to vote. Showing up to counter white supremacists may be more exciting than tapping a few boxes on a screen but the latter ultimately has the longest lasting effect.

Dizcrybe reacted to SSF1991 in What is the absolute most annoying part about the Sonic the Hedgehog fanbase for you?
There's quite a few things I could say that can get annoying about the Sonic fanbase. It stinks too, because I have seen many times where the community actually does come together in a positive way and unite for things. You see it at conventions all the time. I've seen it doing charity live streams. This community can be so much better. It doesn't have to be this...toxic. But the moment Sonic news breaks out, or the moment a past Sonic game is brought up, immediately the debates turn into "is this game good/bad" arguments and flame wars.
One thing I feel that the fanbase has is massive entitlement. Some people seem to think that a Sonic game must only cater to their standards of a Sonic game. If it doesn't, then even if the game is a massive success that sells millions of copies, then the game automatically sucks and everyone else that disagrees is wrong. Some fans are so close-minded that thinking from a business perspective (SEGA is a video gaming company trying to make money, they're a business) instead of a personal perspective is just not possible. Some fans think they run SEGA, when they don't. I think that that has been the only  downside to the growing fan influence that has been happening with SEGA internally in the last decade. Egos have been growing, and people seem to turned "we're listening to fans" into "we're obeying fans". But I think the biggest problem that I have about some Sonic fans, which hasn't already been mentioned here anyway, is that a lot of them think they know everything about game design, about promoting them, and act like experts, even if they have no experience in the field. I, myself, never claim to be an expert. I just research the brand's past and post my findings/observations on occasion, and that's all. But some fans sure act like they're experts.
Now, don't get me wrong. Negative Sonic fans are not 100% to blame here. I've seen positive Sonic fans go "stop complaining" and it comes off very awkwardly. Because it's not the fact they're complaining that is the problem. Even SEGA encourages feedback and critique, and even those that aren't that positive have every right to voice their concerns. The problem is how they're doing it. Going into every single thread related to that game and going off like a broken record doesn't help. Getting angry at opposing opinions doesn't help either. It's one thing to be critical, it's another thing entirely to be overbearing. And I feel some fans get into that "overbearing" territory.
This is not going to be a franchise that has consistency with its gameplay styles. SEGA likes to keep things fresh. Is that a bad thing? It depends on the situation. Even now, with Forces, SEGA couldn't resist putting in a different gameplay style with the Custom Hero. But the other reason why is because this fanbase has so many different preferences and standards for a Sonic game that "you can't please anyone" is a phrase that SEGA really has to come to terms with.
That said, the fanbase hasn't ruined Sonic itself for me. I didn't get into Sonic because of fans. I got into Sonic because I like Sonic games, love the general lore that the universe has and, as a pinball fan, adore the way SEGA has embraced pinball in Sonic content the past 25 years. No Sonic fanbase rules in the universe will stop me!

This might just be me, but I feel like fans tend to bring their grudges against other Sonic fans with them into every discussion. Always treating those who like ____ or hate ____ as some kind of other that's ruining the franchise. I feel like that's the main thing that brings down Sonic discussion for me, and that's not a thing limited to this forum.

Dizcrybe reacted to Tara in Sonic fans, I'm curious. Why do you continue to support the Sonic franchise when SEGA struggles to keep the quality consistent? What's keeping you around?
I guess not being a hardcore gamer by most people's definition of the term is an advantage to me.  Games to me are like alcohol.  Something to do with friends occassionally but not a huge part of my life.  So when I purchase a Sonic game, I don't do it with the active mindset of "I'm supporting a franchise."  I do it with the thought of "Here's something to kill a few hours of my time or create a point of discussion with friends."  It's not to say that don't appreciate the artistry of games as a medium or that I don't recognize the faults of the series.  But a bad game is just a bad game to me, not some life investment.  Rarely do bad games make me legit angry and the ones that do are usually the obvious offenders.  Your Sonic 06's and your Shadows and your Booms.  Something that is mediocre but otherwise fairly inoffensive like Sonic Lost World doesn't really bother me.
So I guess my answer to the question here is that I continue to support the series because I just plain don't care.  Not a complex thing, really.

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/18/politics/health-care-deal-stalled-out/index.html
The bipartisan healthcare deal has been sunk now that Trump has backpedaled and is opposing the measure that would have restored the Obamacare subsidies.
It's the GOP's funeral. During Obama's term, the regular premium increases crippled Democrats at the polls. Now it is the Republicans that will be to blame.
"But the Democrats passed Obamacare!" And yet, with the GOP controlling every branch of government, it is unable to fix it, replace it, repeal it, whatever. They can't blame Obama. This is on them.
And hopefully it means they get to suffer electorally.
    Speaking of which:
    http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/18/politics/senate-2018-alabama-tennessee/index.html
Democrats' 2018 nightmare is starting to dissipate. 25 Democratic seats, 10 of them in states Trump won last year, raised the possibility of Republicans gaining a coveted 60-seat majority. In short:
-Bannon's civil war against the GOP is likely to harm the GOP's general election competitiveness, in particular in Arizona. It's also having effects in Alabama, with moderate Republicans being turned off by the radical Moore.
-Former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredessen has changed his position from "no" to a "maybe" for a Senate run. Bredessen is a conservative Democrat who is enormously popular in the state.
-The GOP's recruiting efforts in North Dakota and Montana haven't been going well. The odds they'll have a strong candidate to field against the Democrats from these states are declining.
It's a longshot, but Democrats just might come out of 2018 with narrow majorities in both chambers. If they do, it's high time for the GOP to start panicking. It may not prompt removal of Trump from office, but it would certainly embolden potential primary challengers like Ryan, Kasich, and Cruz.

The fact that there's no rating between "THIS GAME IS FANTASTIC OMG SO GOOOOOD" and "OMG THIS IS THE WORST SONIC GAME EVAR 0/10000000 THIS FRANCHISE SUX!" I don't see very much "this game is pretty good" or "this game is kinda meh." Always feels like it's either one extreme or the other.
