Yearly realization that Optimus Vs Megatron will always be one of the best conflicts on the face of the planet when it shifts into high gear and takes itself seriously:
«video» «video» «video» Prime was pretty close itself, but every so often I find myself reeeally hoping a definitive Transformers epic could be made, with the focus mainly on the conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons. Even if it has to dive deep and make itself part political thriller in the process, all I know is this side of Transformers deserves far more focus than it gets most of the time.

If Sega didn't pander, and if they actually understood every aspect of their games and used them to the fullest, I'd say the series would be pretty similar to Zelda honestly.
Every game would be polished and critically successful, but also mostly to vastly different from the the games that come before and after them. Adventure and the saturn-esque Indiana Jones direction, SA2 and the military action shonen direction, Heroes and the cheesy Saturday morning cartoon direction, 06 the realistic fantasy direction - everything up to Unleashed and onwards would be the exact same, as in completely different.
The downside is that each of these directions would come from different directors on the team, and different people, as the team rotates in and out as we've noticed with Forces. There wouldn't really *be* a hard continuity, as every game would be more interested in telling it's own story. But imo, that's okay. Expecting a new team to carry on the old lore to a T while focusing so hard on new ideas and directions seems kinda impossible with how often we see new directors get stuff wrong, so it probably would be inevitable that it'd happen at some point or another.
This is just the ideal scenario, though. The reality is they don't knock it out of the park quality-wise, so I don't know how long this direction would have lasted tbh. I do think Unleashed and Colors were necessary steps, so... I dunno. At the end of the day it just boils down to me wishing Sonic Team were better developers in the first place, I guess, regardless of the direction.

This was created for an event held by The Sonic Stadium celebrating the 26th anniversary of Sonic and all the music throughout the series (Motobug Sonic Musical Spectacular 2). This level and genre were chosen by request. (Actually I just asked @Ryannumber1gamer if there was something special he wanted to hear during the stream). I was more than glad to honor that request. It was definitely an interesting turn slowing it down and yet keeping the livelihood of the original. I had learned some more about LFO and was starting to utilize it more and more. It really brings out that sweet sound that flows, like the vibrato heard when one of the synths is played long enough. Also learned that sometimes layering instruments together can make for a stronger, more vibrant sound, as heard in the trumpets. The Sonic Stadium community sure did love how it turned out. This saw a little success on Newgrounds as it was placed 4th for the week and was also featured on the Newgrounds Home page for two weeks. It had been a while since I had touched this genre. I really oughta do more with this style.

It’s actually pretty damn good, got a lot of laughs from it and I think the characters designs have finally grown on me.
    Love the art style too.

A couple songs come close, but I think this'll always be my favorite song in Steven Universe:
«video» I'm up to Season 3 now, and I think the pacing has kinda hit a bumpy stretch, but the first season is probably my favorite of the bunch returning to it, tbh. Just the way it started out as a relatively innocent and lighthearted show, like Steven himself, and gradually revealed more and more until it became something bigger, just really feels like good storytelling to me. I might not have put up with it on my first run with the show, because I couldn't see what's interesting about the filler episodes, but coming back to it, it really stands out as one of the more solid examples of a well thought out storyline in a television series, and especially in a cartoon.
Plus it makes the early moments all the more endearing, knowing how far Steven's come later on. Seeing him and the characters actually grow in all these small slice-of-life ways is something I haven't seen since Avatar, and it really feels like something special as a result. It's all just so charming and cozy and ahdhj I love it

Went back to the first season of Steven Universe expecting it to be just as rough to get through as when I first watched it, but it actually holds up really well??? In fact it may be just as good as the recent episodes?????
Either it's the comfort of context keeping me entertained, or my entire mindset with this was whack back then. These are great; definitely top-tier cartoon material imo

I'm willing to bet most people who think Sky Chase (Adventure) sucks likely don't know you can lock on to enemies. Outside of the regular bullets being absolutely garbage, imo it feels like a perfectly adequate After Burner mini game, once you know how to pull the missiles off.
Tornado Defence > Sky Chase statements are just... wierd, though... Even without the lock on I still don't understand; I'll take a boring but easy over a boring but crazy hard gimmick any day of the week

Honestly with the way everything's going right now, I wouldn't mind if Taxman and Co. took a break from Sonic for a good while and worked on different projects, tbh. Let Taxman dive into 3D development and get a handle on it if he wants, then once everyone's more experienced and had more time to sit on ideas, come back and pitch something entirely new to Sega.
As appealing as a "quality" subseries is, I'm a lot more interested in the latent potential the series as a whole has at this point. Mania's good enough on it's own I feel, for now.
