  1. This is trash. Slime. Filth. Scum of the earth. The actors are terrible, the plot is all over the place, Jaleel White has lost his touch, Sonic's model and animation are awful, the effects are so poor it's hilarious, the music is bland and dull, the cameos are pointless and obvious, the ending makes no sense, the humans get way too much screentime, and above all else it's too fucking short.
  2. Does anyone know if it's possible to get the older version of SADX for PC to run in widescreen? If so, HOW? I've tried everything, downloaded the unofficial patch, the tweaker, multiple versions of the same .exe, and nothing at all pops up in Google besides threads/files that have long since been deleted and I can't find reuploads or instructions anywhere except for the Steam release, which isn't the same thing.
  3. ShTH was my first 3D Sonic game and I had the PS2 version. I liked it when I was 13, but then again you tend to like overly edgy characters and nonsensical plots when you're 13. It's fast-paced once you know what you're doing, and the gunplay works, but to complete objectives you have to move slowly through the level and search around, something I don't want to do in a Sonic game unless it makes my job easier, like searching for goal rings in Mushroom Hill to get Hyper Sonic early. Vehicles, what's the point? They never go as fast as Shadow does on foot and are just gimmicks to force you to traverse. The only times you need them are the walker to jump on high platforms, and the truck in Central City to go over the acid. The graphics suck and are dull and boring, and almost none of the music is memorable. Seriously, 23 stages and I can only remember 1 off the top of my head (except for the main theme, which I like), and you have to play through them 10 times so that's saying something. The actual gameplay though isn't that bad, and you can easily adjust to its crap factor if you're a Sonic fan. My biggest complaint though, is the plot. Did Shadow's backstory really need that much more depth? It didn't really tell us anything overly necessary. Eggman tries to convince Shadow he's an android even though that doesn't make sense, and he didn't even do that in Sonic Heroes. That was Metal Sonic, who only did that to convince him to join his robot army. Eggman himself has no real reason to convince Shadow he's an android when it should be painfully obvious that he isn't. There were only a few slivers of mystery surrounding Shadow's backstory, did we really need to make up an entire GAME to explain them? And why don't ANY of my choices matter when only the Last Story is canon? What's the point of the game then? There's also the HIDEOUS framerate and pop-in in the PS2 version but whatever.
  4. Everyone says the games are all about platforming, speed, physics, etc. But what do you think is the core formula for a Sonic game? The one that no matter how it's presented, whether like the Classic or Modern stages in Generations, feels like Sonic? For me, it would be a sense of speed, bright and colorful graphics, and a catchy energizing soundtrack. If any one of those elements is missing, it just isn't Sonic. Comparing Sonic Heroes to Shadow the Hedgehog, both are similarly designed, have the same controls, camera, engine, etc. But Shadow the Hedgehog has dull uninterestingly colored textures and the almost none of the music is memorable. And you're going really slow to clear objectives and kill lots of enemies with huge health bars. Even if you take the game for what it is, it just doesn't feel like Sonic.
  5. I wish Eggman would be more of a threat. I don't think Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog are bad games. I wouldn't say they're objectively good either, but they're certainly enjoyable. They're ok for what they are. Actually, besides Sonic 2006, I can't think of a Sonic game that's any worse than just "ok". I never cared for the Chao Garden. I never, ever liked the writing in Colors. It's just as cringe-worthy as Heroes's. And I thought Generations, in terms of story, squandered loads of potential and it was just overall too simple.
  6. Hello, my name is BlazeHeatnix. I'm starting a large project in RPG Maker VX Ace, featuring the Sonic universe. While I have most of the basic plot outline down, I'm not good at actually writing the script for the characters. I also need help with the overall storyline. I would gladly show a demo for what I have so far, but until I get the plot 100% down, I'm scared to start more work on it than I need to. If you're interested, PM me. However, 3 things: 1. You must know one hell of a lot about the Sonic universe. You must understand how Sonic's personality works and how he would talk and act, along with most of the friends in Sonic Generations which are the main cast, and you must have played/know a great deal about the games in which the areas in the RPG represent. I also want something akin to Ian Flynn's writing style (Sonic writer for the Archie comics) if possible, since Sonic Team's writing is a little...lacking in overall depth and personality. 2. No fanfiction. No fancharacters, out-of-character speak, overdramatic writing, etc. Write the cast like how they would be written in official media. These are kid-friendly cartoon characters in a kid-friendly cartoon world. Just keep it simple. The tone has to be somewhere around the Adventure titles, and that of course means you can have some subtle (hint: subtle) dark themes, deep character development and a menacing villain, but nothing like Shadow the Hedgehog or Sonic 2006 with tons of drama or unnecessary cursing or realism. 3. Stay in touch. PMs, Skype, anything to help communication between me, you, and everyone else on the team. Sound overwhelming? It shouldn't! If you like Sonic enough and know enough about it, you shouldn't have any trouble writing Sonic at all. If you have questions, feel free to ask.
