    Guys, Ken Penders is enough of an asshole by himself. You don't need to intentionally read everything he says in the most offensive possible way to make him more so.

    The "photos of girls" tweets clearly don't... it's the kind of threat where you point to someone else. He's not saying "pay me and I'll send you lecherous photos", he's saying "you think what I did is bad you should see what some of these are wearing".

    IT's bad in that he's judging the cosplayers and that's shitty, but he's not being a stalker or anything.

    Now they've become such a bore!
    Ooooh no!
    But you can hardly swallow
    This awful dreck.
    You just can't help but follow
    Because it's such a damn train wreck

    Ok so... I have a theory... and I hope it's wrong because if they actually do go there... Well here it is.

    In the new footage, there's one point at around 0:30 where Sonic is shot into the air and says

    "It's like these tracks were built for me!"

    For some reason, this stuck out as being odd, mainly because I thought "Well... yeah, because it's your gameplay stage!" Then there was this which immediately follows that line delivery....

    Two statues of giant hedgehogs holding a huge golden ring.

    Well.... what if this isn't a throwaway line? But a plot device?

    Back in the original topic I pointed out this thing in Sticks' house....

    A hedgehog/cat like mask... only now that there's clear footage of the hedgehog statues, I'm going towards 'hedgehog' over cat.

    Are they setting us up for a 'Sonic Origin' story? That this mysterious land is supposed to be where he originated from? It just seems really odd how we have this hedgehog imagery in multiple bits of media and Sonic commenting how he feels like the stage was built for him? Then there's other little things like those devices which generate a line of rings.

    At this point I thought 'well there's probably something in the story which means this isn't possible' and then I thought "Well hang on, what exactly do we know about the story?" They've fallen into a mysterious lost land... Eggman is here, and there's a snake villain... oh and Sticks is here, that's it! We don't actually know anything about the story at all.

    And don't forget what they've been telling us, they wanted this world to have a rich history that we could figure out. Is the idea of an origins/this is where Sonic came from, plotline so out of the question?

    OMG. Before I get to the positive, I have to say this. You know that kind of boring, forgettable music that plays on Ben 10, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, Cartoon Network Punchtime games....Sonic Boom screams of it. Badly. Chronicles' soundtrack is bad, but Boom's soundtrack will join Chronicles nice and easy in this department.

    Lost World, while very mediocre had that Windy Hill track and several others that are we can remember for years to come. Even Sonic '06 to THIS day we can remember some tracks in it without playing it for years.

    I'm so disappointed because music in Sonic games were never this terrible. Okay, there's Chronicles but funny enough I still remember how that Green Hill Zone BGM plays in that game. And after playing Ben 10 and other games with this type of music, I know for sure I will not remember any music played in Boom. So far from the video anyway.

    Don't know what to say about the graphics really. I don't know whether I'm shocked or I'm okay with it. This is because I played these type of games before and I got used to them. And it looks better than Sonic 06---that's not saying much isn't it?

    On the other hand, whatever I said about Cindy Robinson and how she is the worst VA for Amy the series has ever gotten? I'm taking that back. Sure from Free Riders to Generations (LW was tolerable) her voice was so freaking high, it doesn't suit her, and I'm tired of my friends while playing Generations and Free Riders saying "Oh God, turn off Amy's voice". It hurts me as an Amy fan. It's like SEGA deliberately want people to hate Amy or something.

    If there is one thing I like about Boom, is how Boom transformed Amy completely (although the 3DS version is questionable) and I was extremely surprised on how well Cindy did for Amy here. It's like a complete 180 here...and forgive me, but I loving this voice more than I ever did with Lisa Ortiz. I beg of SEGA to keep this voice direction for Amy in future games including the main series. Don't go back to that squeaky Minnie Mouse one please.

    I will never stop loving Sonic and the Black Knight's absolutely wonderful and most likeable portrayal of Sonic, and that really shows here. Not only is this the most heartfelt ending scene to any Sonic game, it really motivates me to get by and try living life to its potential. It's a beautiful closing scene, and The Storybook writers did an excellent job conveying it.

    Oh so thats where all the colour and the enemies went, they're in the 3DS version.

    *video ends*

    Allright.... everything I just said about the Wii U version.... make it the opposite.

    3DS version looks fantastic from that footage. Levels are colourful, there's plenty of action which is varied, they have remembered to include enemies and things to do.

    The stages look fun and engaging, it feels like you're actually required to do something when playing the stage. It looks like it runs a lot smoother than the Wii U version

    However.... at the same time, it looks similar in vain to what Colours 3DS and Lost World 3DS trailers have been, so do I just think it looks so great because the Wii U version looks so terrible?

    Oh.... the whole Amy being, I don't particularly mind... to a point, so long as the reason makes sense since Amy is not a weak distress character and hasn't been for decades.

    I wanted to say "I was pleasantly Surprised by this..."I really wanted to say it considering how good various news and things had been in the last few weeks.

    Instead I'm sat in here in awe at how bad this looks and before people say 'oh you can't please everyone' or 'well you're an older fan, let me explain why I think this looks terrible.

    Case in point.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YWdDO5jVeA

    Every single part where we have high speed sections look totally barren and dull. My point from the first reveal trailer stands, they look lifeless and lack any enemies. There's not a single one. Combat as predicted seems to be restricted to these arena areas. Sonic's speed grinds to a halt and it just looks like I should be playing a new IP character.

    I don't know if it's the art style but the colours look awful too. It looks like it's running through a Call of Duty brown filter, What happened to our bright colourful environments? Parts of Unleashed look more colourful than this does.

    Purple Pit or whatever it's called, really!? Are you going with that background!? It looks like you just clicked the purple paint fill tool to colour in the environment, it looks awful. It's the same story for that underground base type level and the sewer segment.

    Even the guy describing the game sounded like he was struggling for encouraging things to say "Oh well when you damage docotor eggman he reacts like tugging on his mustache!" OH WOW REALLY!? "And he struggles to get it started up again!" Erm... what does this have to do with the gameplay!?

    And then he finishes with "The boss battle wasn't terribly remarkable."

    The speed levels are totally empty, theres nothing in them! It's literally boost to win + ender beam to make a long jump. That is not fun, that is automated gameplay with a tiny bit of interaction.

    From 4:20 onwards to 5:05... Thats 40 seconds of a Sonic stage in which the player knows what they're doing, moving at high speeds through multiple parts of the level in we did not see ANY of the following.

    * Enemies.
    * Traps.
    * Item boxes.

    We did however see a lot of the following.

    * Bottomless pits.
    * Rings.
    * Automated sections.

    It looks out of character, painfully slow, amazingly sluggish and void of life.

    Combat stages look like it's just going to be 'enter room, defeat enemies at end' progress through door which will then open.

    Amazingly disappointed by this footage.

    Roll on Sonic 2015.

    Oh P.S. anyone else spot the giant Sonic tribal statues in the video?

    I'm, like, 99% certain that one of the community managers a while back confirmed that Chronicles isn't canon to main series in any way. Does anyone else remember that quote?

    On another note, I think that Rivals 1 & 2 both take place after Rush Adventure. The end of SRA shows Nega go completely insane for the first time in the Rush series and he tries to blow up the planet rather than let Sonic win. I think that leads nicely into Nega trying to destroy the world in the Rivals series.

    Unknownlight reacted to Ash Cloud in "Sonic Dissected" Dissected: (LEGO) Sonic Dimensions As You Truly Imagined It
    No one directly stated they hated him, but some people were being very harsh and rather rude with their comments towards him. It's one thing to criticize someone and another to blatantly insult them.

      Such as this unnecessary insult.

    Then there are the individuals who felt the need to comment on Roger's "bias" (read: opinions) without even bothering to fully watch his videos. This comes across as "jumping on the hate wagon". Very hypocritical, considering that they accused Roger of making invalid arguments and based on improper research, yet they make invalid statements about him, such as calling him biased, when they would have learned from watching his videos that nearly everything he states is in his opinion (you know, the things that people tend to have when they feel a certain way about something?). He even says in the first video that the dissected videos are mainly about things he noticed. That doesn't make it fact or perfect- they're simply observations. HIS observations. He realized this early on in his videos, and, as DoubleA stated a few pages back, invited people to join in the discussion. Instead, some people decided to be bitter about it.

    And I'm sorry, but many of the comments came off as overly sensitive rather than critical.
    Some people gave him valid constructive criticism: "Tone down the sarcastic attitude.", Try to be a bit less pretentious.", "Don't gag on Pontac so much.", etc.

    Then you have things like this:
      This isn't constructive criticism- this is pointless complaining. He only states why he dislikes Roger's videos and offers no alternative to Roger's "nitpicking". It's not constructive in any way, and instead comes off as: "Waah! He likes Adventure more than I do, so that makes him a biased nitpicker!" Instead of moaning about Roger's "nitpicking", this individual could have made a simple suggestion, such as, "I don't agree with your statements, and I find it unfair that you only criticize the new games instead of the Adventure games. How about you also do a video of criticisms for the Adventure games so that your argument is less biased?" Some kind of suggestion would have been much better.

    And this. Seriously, let's nitpick at someone's voice....you know, something they can't fix. Let's whine because we don't understand what they're talking about (since you don't understand, that's something YOU need to fix, not them). Being irritated when they go over something in depth? It's a Dissected Video. They're SUPPOSED to go over everything in depth. They're "dissecting" everything they can about Sonic down to the bone, and in the best way they can.
    The only valid criticism from this block of complaints is saying that the video is chaotic because it goes into too many different directions. Roger can take from this and make sure his videos are more focused. He can't do much with his voice, except change the pitch but that's unnecessary. His voice is his voice. I'm sure most of us here don't have heavenly, angelic-sounding voices, either.

    And just as Nepenthe stated, this discussion was originally supposed to be about discussing Roger's opinions, concerning the topic in the video. Instead, many of the comments turned into personal attacks on Roger himself because some people clearly have some pent-up anger towards him.

    Considering the fact that all he made was a simple joke about this forum being a "little hate club", I'd say he took this rather well. I'm actually stunned that people in here are offended at his small joke when he just got stomped on by 5+ individuals.

    Edward pointed me over here, and I see your point, Unknownlight. Edward thinks a lot on the nuts and bolts of a game, the technical details and the engine its built upon. And due to our playthrough being a co-op playthrough, the issues with the netcode in particular came to the forefront, as well as those of the OpenGL mode and first person, to far lesser extents. In fact, the first person concern only comes up during Egg Rock, due to its use in 2.0 to negate the disorientation of the main gimmick of reversed gravity, as timing jumps and judging distances becomes far harder when you're seemingly 'jumping down and falling up'. The rest of the time, at least for me, the chasecam stayed on, at least in single player and co-op.

    We all played in OpenGL, and as we all know, 'OpenGL not supported kthxbai', but with how long its been around and how many times the community has tried to fix it, its basically become a staple of the game at that point, so I feel they're fair game as well, especially when 2.1 had batch files to run them out of the box. They were minor, though, since a lot of things that broke under OpenGL in 2.0 worked fine in 2.1, and some instances of REDWALL are more of a joking thing than anything else, as long as there isn't too much of it. (the video viewpoint saw about 2 or 3 instances, I personally saw about 4 or 5 more that only I was getting. Over the whole game on release day, that's pretty good)

    As for the camera issue, as Edward said, it was that they didn't flip the camera view, but they did flip the up/down look controls. This means your camera in first person is the same in reversed gravity as it is in regular gravity, but if you tried to look up, you looked down instead. It felt very jarring compared to 2.0's way of having your camera flip because your character did, which felt much more natural.

    After a second playthrough on my own, I've got a better handle on things, and I'll present my thoughts below: (For the sake of space, I've condensed these sections to spoiler tags. My apologies for the heavy word count.)

    Introduction

    Greenflower Zone

    Techno Hill Zone

    Deep Sea Zone

    Castle Eggman Zone

    Arid Canyon Zone

    Red Volcano Zone

    Egg Rock Zone (old stages)

    Egg Rock Zone (new stages)

    EDIT as at 21st March: Argh, completely forgot the special stages! They're sort of a big thing, aren't they?

    Special Stages:

    For the single player, that's about it, really. Edward and I have yet to play much of the other modes, which I'm told were heavily reworked in this release, especially Match. We'll probably get back to you, who knows? Depends on Edward, really, he's the one doing the video work. However, I would like to note that in Match modes, First Person mode is usually considered mandatory, due to it playing like a first person shooter, and so if they don't fix the reverse gravity issues with the first person camera, anyone wanting to use reverse gravity in multiplayer maps (like Twisted Terminal, for example) should take heed of the issue. Even after playing through a few times, it is still very disorientating, and should be reverted, in my opinion.

    So, for the fun of it, I made a "remastered" version of Sonic Adventure 2 in movie form. However, you can find this almost anywhere on YouTube, so I started from scratch. With HD, wide screen, fixed dialouge, new (purposely overdramatic music) and sound effects from much newer games, this is Sonic Adventure 2 like you've never seen it before. Just remember, this is MEANT to be different. I love the original game and all of it's flaws. So just have fun with it.

    Just to ask, which character are you playing as? (Also, what control scheme are you using?) Generally, I find that Knuckles is the best character to play as when you're not too good with the controls yet, because you can climb/glide around obstacles and precision platforming. Tails is even more maneuverable, but controlling his flight can sometimes be difficult.

    By the way, I take back anything I've ever said about SRB2's engine sucking. I had no idea this was even possible with the engine:

    I've always liked Sonic/Blaze, and judging from the way Sonic Rush and Black Knight were written, I suspect someone on the old writing staff did as well.

    I'm glad you brought up Sonic/Rouge. That ship is hilarious. There's only like a dozen or so people in the world who are legitimately fans of it, but it's fun because not even its fans take it seriously, but they also don't treat it like an absolute joke either (like Sonic/Eggman or something usually is).

    ...Eh? Source, please?

    The problem I find with that is that, as I've said, unnecessarily putting said personality into perfectly ordinary lines that shouldn't even warrant or require it just feels like it's trying too hard to convey something. It feels forced, unnatural, and at worst, cringeworthy. It's what makes characters feel like irritating stereotypes and what makes them feel like they're 'always on'.

    A dominant personality trait doesn't automatically mean it has to permeate every single aspect of their mannerisms. That's when characters start become annoying flanderisations of themselves.
