To be more specific that variant is called a 'rapid jab'. Any neutral A can just be called a 'neutral attack' or a 'jab', the ones that have an infinite get those variants usually called rapid jabs from what I've seen in the community.
Also Pirahna Plant feels really fucking weird. Certainly unique and doesn't disappoint for what a weird playable character choice it looked like, but I don't think I'm gonna be playing as it very often. Can't get used to that neutral special lol

Changing menu music is literally the only reason I would bother to finish World of Light and even then it's not motivating enough for me lol. Even Classic Mode feels pointless now knowing that the only reward is a PNG file of some character artwork I've seen a million times. tl;dr Spirits suck
I think the most damaging thing to the single-player replay value of Ultimate by far was no more trophies. They were always fun to look at and collect and it was interesting to read bios on characters you've never known of before.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone who wants to play Special Smash online in all the years it's existed. I certainly wouldn't want it in quickplay with how it ends up sometimes in this game. In arenas with friends it'd be fun, though.
As for stage morph I think that would be a bit of a strain on players' connections? I don't quite get the ins and outs of online play networking and stuff but I can't imagine something like the Nintendogs living room turning into New Pork City or some shit being easy to optimise for online play.
The other two though are big standouts and I think Squad Strike especially will probably get added as an online feature soon enough. Here's hoping on my end anyway.

spinny got a reaction from Snowragnarok in Sonic Character Design Definition Topic
It is all in the eyes.

We have four types of eyes.

Cyclops with two pupils, a drop down trying to point to which eye is which, which we see in Sonic, Amy, Vector, Charmy, Shadow and Silver.

Two seperate eyeball slots which poke out and form a very vertical oval shape. This is seen in Tails, Rouge, Cream, Wave and Marine.

Something comparable to the first style, except the drop down goes all the way down to the muzzle, therefore creating seperate eyeball slots, similar to the above style, but more... spear-like? This is seen in Knuckles, Espio, Blaze and Jet.

And last of all, probably the most stand-outish of the lot, simple circle-like spots with no real sign of an eyeball even actually present. It usually looks like no more but a dot. This is seen in Big, E-123 Omega, Storm and (supposedly, due to his glasses shape) Eggman.

These all (apart from the fourth style, which is one of its own) still rely around the same concept. White irises and two vertically-placed ovals inside for pupils, colors of which differ depending on the character, usually to either match their personality or blend against the rest of their color scheme.

It's also worth noting the eyeliner that all females seem to have by default. Amy, Blaze, Rouge and Wave also have two eyelashes per eye whilst Cream and Marine have one, indicating that eyelashes are grown during a female Sonic!anthro's life, albeit very slowly.

While we have several different body builds, hand shapes, shoe designs, 'hairstyles' and much more, the eyes always tend to be the most iconic part of a Sonic character's design and the one that stays most stable.

You could be talking to the person absolutely fine, then next day, they're suddenly gone, never to come back. It's also partially why I worry when I see accounts on forums that are inactive. Did the person just get bored or did... y'know, that happen?

Rest in peace, man. I never knew you personally at all, but that doesn't bar me from hoping you're in a safer place now. What they say is true, the good always die young... ._.

I saw this in my YouTube subs box just now and remembered how I used to be the only one to ever give this thread any updates so I figured I'd drop in real quick.
It now works completely instead of just saying NO CD SYSTEM! Plays music discs and is also shown playing some other game (emulated or something I believe he says in the video).
It's really nice to see the thing come so far from a fairy tale in the history of the PlayStation, to photos and a video that people thought were fake, to the real deal that's broken, to a fully functional unit.
Maybe one day a prototype game disc will surface, we can only pray for that now I guess.

spinny reacted to Radiant Hero Ike in So why did you originally join sonic stadium?
Oh wait, I remember more details. I used to check Sonic Stadium as a secondary Sonic news site way back when. My main news site was TSSZ.
I remember when I first joined I was itsameluigi1290 and stayed that way for a while, up until the FE RP thingy happened. That was awesome.
I think another of the main reasons I joined had something to do with the Pokémon Anime thread? Seeing people talk about it and not despising it was great.
I think Spinny, Felix, SuperLink, RosaRosaRosalina and Galabance were my first friends here, but it's been a LOOOONG time so I don't remember for sure. I liked talking to Soniko and Spin Attaxx as well. I kinda gravitated into conversations with them.
    I also wanted to post my art too? I wasn't expecting praise but then people like JezMM and the guy who did Sonic in Jaws even complimented me. I think those two posts are still in my art thread since it was in the time frame that wasn't erased by the server wipe. To this day those comments make me happy. ;v;
...I think I reminisced a bit too much, whoops

I joined for the Marketplace because I was interested in some items people were selling when I was still massively into collecting Sonic merchandise, I eventually dabbled in debates and talking about Sonic and other games, then became a main stay member for about 4 or 5 years before moving on. Made some good friends here though like @Indigo Rush and @spinny

spinny got a reaction from UltraGizmo64 in Famous Sonic Fans?
Actually, SEGA doesn't own the copyright to Green Hill's music anymore. Anytime they want to use it (eg: Generations), they have to consult Nakamura from Dreams Come True (the dude who composed Sonic 1 & 2's soundtracks) to use it first. It's one of the main reasons why Seaside Hill gets reused instead these days.

spinny got a reaction from UltraGizmo64 in SEGA sample origin discovery thread "Finding the DNA of SEGA's music since summer of 2013!"
    Welcome, one and all.

You may know me as Super Sampledash when it comes to this work... and what do I do, exactly?

I find the origins to samples that have been utilized by SEGA's audio department.

Now, you may be thinking, "what is a sample, Spinny?"

Audio sampling is a technique in the music industry that has been popular since the 1980s.

It basically can be summed up, as taking a vocal, a drum loop, a synth/guitar/whatever riff, any type of instrumental piece and mixing it into your own song.

It's no secret to most of the Sonic fanbase that SEGA's musicians are 'guilty' of also using this technique.

Now, what most of this fanbase thinks is that SEGA samples from MP3 files, YouTube videos, tapes of old TV shows, and such like this.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcDvyrVzyQ8

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-j-xr0Dv1wk

    That shit is illegal.

This is not how music development works, regardless of what all your 'sources' such as WhoSampled on the internet told you.

    At least with SEGA.

This is how you hunt for samples.

SEGA takes their content from sample packs, all composed by different manufacturers. Best Service, Masterbits, Zero-G, Polestar Magnetics, you name it.

And how do I accomplish such a feat? It's all patience.

My whole plan for this thread is to document each and every single one of SEGA's samples they have utilized, and where you can find them yourself.

So, without further ado, kick back and... enjoy the show!

Garageband isn't the true origin of any samples. They all come from PowerFX. Here's the actual origin of that one from Wrapped in Black http://powerfx.com/products/989253260
Also I believe this uses Key Harp 13 aka Nordic Keyed Fiddle 02 in Garageband.
I don't think so, but if anyone has already posted this then oops. (also sorry for bringing back such an old thread)

I think posting others' fanart to just poke fun at it or such is against the rules if I'm not mistaken, so I'm gonna go ahead and point out a glitch...

    This.

This glitch, pretty famous for appearing in SomecallmeJohnny's Sonic Adventure review, occurs if you manage to complete an entire run of the Dreamcast verison of SA1, without a memory card in the controller. That's right; all 7 stories in one sitting and you're rewarded with this. Easily one of the most hilarious glitches in the series in my opinion.

Another bumpity bump as Ben Heck has been called in to do an analysis on the inner workings of the unit and (hopefully) actually get the disc drive working, using music CDs as a test because obviously there was never any disc games released.
Definitely interesting to watch, the motherboard is very similar to a Super Nintendo at the base. Still feels so crazy to even see the real deal in HD video and whatnot even a year later, remembering all the quick assumptions we all had that this was fake kinda makes me laugh.

Pretty much this is all I care about when it comes to Sonic anymore.

I am beginning to grow tired of mediocre ~ alright games. This series still really has a whole lot of potential and it actually upsets me that it's never achieving that. These days I never really play Sonic games anymore, I watch cutscenes, listen to the soundtracks, read stories and stare at artwork.

Simply put it doesn't feel like a video game series to me anymore. It feels like... anything but that.

Do I believe an amazing Sonic game could be made? Most definitely. Do I feel like it's going to come very soon or even just soon? ..No, not really.

    http://www.engadget.com/2015/11/06/nintendo-playstation-is-real-and-it-works/
This Engadget article went up about an hour ago. They finally grew balls and turned this thing on and it's real, the video shows a lot of interesting things, most notably a full on BIOS with a 1991 copyright year. The CD drive seems to be dormant though, but Japanese SNES games indeed work on it like what's meant to be. The yellowed controller that was shown all those months ago with the 'PlayStation' printed on it works too.

This here is a huge piece of video game history, now confirmed real after four months. What do you guys think?

spinny reacted to Klinsy in North American N64 DD found!
Ah, the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive, one of the greatest case of what could have been in gaming history, this thing would expand the capabilities of the N64,  many games were announced for it but due to many circumstances the thing bombed when it actually came out and most of said games were either canceled or converted into regular N64 games and thus it was only released in Japan, however, the existence of a  version made for markets outside of Japan have been hinted for a long time, however no solid evidence has shown up ... till now/
The above video shows a man who found a prototype version with a mysterious  blue disk, this is a pretty big find so there will probably be more as this develops.
