  1. yup, knuckles definitely has a new voice, and it SUUUUUUCKS

Sometimes he sounds absolutely fine. Others he sounds incredibly try-hard and it's awful.

I wonder why there were so many (will at least 2) re-casts for TSR. Both Silver and Knuckles had great performances in Forces

Whenever a voice is changed, an adjustment period for the fanbase and the actor who is new to the character is over the horizon. It's typically not a good thing to keep doing this so often but whatever. Why even bother expecting any semblance of consistency...?

It has to be a pay rate thing. I mean, that was presumably the reason Higgins stopped voicing Tails after LW (though at least with Tails, Villard came in and didn't miss a single beat).

Anyways... if there's any good to take from this, at least the changes were done for a spin-off game instead of a main title or something. Hopefully the VAs will adjust by then.

@Strickerx5 Remember when Kirk Thornton debuted as Shadow in Free Riders (which somehow has higher production values in its cutscenes than TSR) and proceeded to chew scenery in every game since? And yet he delivers such a good performance as Orbot.

Knuckles really does sound fine in a lot of the TSR dialogue, but it's too inconsistent. And it's a shame because Willingham DID improve massively from his Dan Green impersonations back in Free Riders. Forces Knuckles sounded great. On part with Scott Drier, even if the two takes were rather different. If his new VA can get the consistency, I'll be happy with it.

Silver I'm also unsure about. Flynn sounded like his original voice, but somehow less irritating. The new voice is completely different, but I don't think I dislike it. It's just strange getting used to something so different after approximately 13 years.

Other Knuckles voices have sounded natural, but this new actor sounds like he's trying too hard putting on a "tough guy" voice to play Knuckles. It's too unnatural, that it causes a severe disconnect between the voice and the character.

I have gotten a general idea of what Knuckles sounds like thanks to his previous voices, and this new one is really trying too hard that he doesn't feel like Knuckles.

That's the thing though, I don't get that impression in all of his lines. Most the the in-race clips have the try-hard tough guy vibe that's unnatural and off. But a lot of (not all) of his story dialogue actually sounds decent.

The one story dialogue clip I listened to started off with him sounding fine and then ended with him giving me doofy Storm the Albatross vibes.

He's new to Knuckles so he'll need some time. Then he'll get replaced and another guy will have to try and get used to playing Knux...

I really don't want to give him crap for it, every new actor will have some difficulty adjusting, and Knuckles's new actor has his good lines. It's just a bit off, as Knuckles has had probably the most consistent voice direction, where this sounds so obviously different. I hope the new actor finds a way to improve.

Silver isn't too bad. It's no Flynn, but the "anime protagonist" voice fits strangely well with his character.

Bryce Papenbrook being called the "Anime protagonist" voice is hilarious

@Kuzu the Boloedge Prepare to laugh even more because @Polkadi~♪ is spot on with that comparison. Silver literally is Anime Protagonist the Hedgehog now.

That's exactly why I laughed, it's an hilariously fitting title for him lol

Oh snap. I didn't know people besides me called Silver "anime protagonist" voice in reaction to Bryce.
