I saw that long, long ago. It hurts, of course.

      But nothing prepares you for

      Spoiler

Mae Hughe’s death. The plenty of character building beforehand, the death scene, the funeral, it is a ten hit combo of gut punches.

It really is a terrible day for rain.

    Is it?

    "YES."

    Is it?

    "YES."

    Is it?

    "...no."

  6. Now I wonder about if Sonic Riders had replaced the CGI cutscenes with animated ones instead. It would certainly fit the aesthetics more, especially with the ingame cutscenes already having an anime feel to them.

It would've made them a lot better instead of the dated PS2 models.

Those CG models didn't look very positive at all.

      Even at the time.

Oh, you mean the proper CG ones, I thought you meant the in-engine CG cutscenes.

The ingame cutscenes are fine, and are a lot more expressive than most Sonic stuff today. The CG cutscenes don't really deliver with it's dated look, and almost go against the whole aesthetic.

    7. Milo

      Milo

Really? I thought the CG cutscenes were fine.

If all of the cutscenes were more like the Production I.G. opening, that would had been awesome, but besides some oddities (like Tails' snout) I didn't think the CG cutscenes were dated or (concerning the opening that's in Metal City) clashed with the visual aesthetic.

I always wondered what was the deal with the awesome animated opening in Riders, only to never commit to it ever again in the entire spin-off series. Such a wasted opportunity (a trademarked Sonic Team move).

It's like they changed direction mid-development, but included that animation because why not, it was already done.

  7. my university accepted me for their course

  8. IDW Sonic issue 7 is just comic book sakuga.

  9. Both of Studio Bones's biggest anime properties had their first opening songs from Porno Graffiti.

    What an odd coincidence.

  10. Took a long time for the Sonic X rerun to get mentioned >:U

    nah, it's all good lol

Really? I thought they were doing their best to bury the crap out of Sonic X.

  16. I'm sure it's been said before, but after the zombot arc, I wouldn't mind some more simpler and lighter stories. Something like some smaller scale One Piece-esque adventures. Not like Archie Sonic's Shattered World Crisis, but more like the Post-#50 stories where Sonic and Tails went around the world. Considering the premise that the IDW comic series gives itself, it sounds very in line with what they sell themselves on. As a bonus, it doesn't need to have an underlying plot following them like the first four issues, but rather have the next story arc planned out with bits and pieces leading into it sprinkled across the story. Maybe a village is implementing a new idea that'll help them thrive and Sonic supports it, but it later on (and I mean several issues ahead) becomes a big problem when some villain comes along and uses it for their own evil needs, driving Sonic back to the village.
  17. To this day have I never started a genocide run of Undertale, because I am a good boy.

Yeah you have to wander around fighting random encounters for a while to clear out every single area, and of course the boss fights are brutal and will require a lot of patience to learn the patterns and clear.

There's dialogue in the genocide run with a joke at one point that directly acknowledges people who just watched videos of the genocide run instead of playing it for themselves. Personally I consider this joke to be validation that abstaining from a genocide run is a legit option considered by Toby Fox lol.

People are suffering and dying here. I have pictures of extreme smoke that I fucking slept in. I don't want to live in this country anymore.

Its even worse when you realize that the government isn't going to help anyone due to self interest. I can't stand how they want to lower classes to die but not realize they need us for their daily shit.

I can at least see how bad Russia has it. My grandparents still watch Russian news from here in Australia, and their opinions in discussions mirror that of Russian propaganda.

  20. Perhaps they could have better communicated that idea. No one in the game mentioned anything of the sort, and the conclusion was made outside of the game by Sonic fans. Sonic Team could not communicate the idea effectively and fell flat on their faces because of it. I still hold to the idea that Classic Sonic is still from the past because it's the only thing that makes sense about it all. I have plenty of likes and dislikes about Sonic from the past decade, but character assassination and muddling what should be easily understood concepts have bothered me so much. Still, Generations and Colours are good fun, as is Mania. Plenty of good things for Sonic has happened, with Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed being one of my favourite kart racing games. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is a game that I've also enjoyed a lot, with memories of Dry Bowser wiping the floor with me in a campaign mode, but I still beat him through sheer willpower and determination. I could go on and on about the good and the bad, from Archie and IDW and more. Ultimately: Sonic 4 is everything but what it wanted to be, Colours is great, Generations is great, Lost World is weird, Sonic Boom is squandered, Mania is great, Forces did a thing. Comics did a backflip into a void and bounced out somehow, but didn't stick the landing. No idea what the hell Sonic was trying to do this decade.
  21. Ain't that wild? Hard to believe that this Sonic community has been around for 20 years...! Oh, believe me, I'll be all in for some celebrations here. I even had an idea for an event that I was planning to save for next year, but this year is as good as any. We'll celebrate this year in Sonic style!
  22. Get me out of this godforsaken country. I'd sooner migrate than stay in a country controlled by a government so willing to ignore ginormous issues.

  23. pfft not even a minute into the new year and everything on the forum gets marked with 2019
