Evidently links don't show up on the front page. Oops.

It's probably one of those "physical box with digital game copy code inside" deals.

I don't think so. It sounded like a game disc on the inside when I picked it up. Besides, usually games that do that note on the box that it's just a download code.

I'm almost certain I've seen this on shelves a bajillion times, but I could just be thinking of Sonic Mania +. It's the same cover art though.

I’m looking up Mania on Walmart’s website and the only physical ones I’m seeing are Plus. Evidently, the cover is identical except for the Plus.

What was the back cover like?

The back cover didn't make any mention of Mighty or Ray, I can remember that. The Heavy King was the only character on the back, didn't even see any mention of DLC.

Seen it around, dunno if it has Plus.

  1. I found a DLC-less physical copy of Sonic Mania at Walmart just now. Is that a new thing?

Pardon? Can you show us a picture?

Stores sometimes use display cases to advertise the download codes for digital-only games. You sure it wasn’t just one of those?

I made another status, but just in case you're notified of replies to this post:

      Here's a picture I took.

  2. Might just be me, but I find myself confusing the Rocket and the Burst Wisps pretty often. Usually because I'm focused more on the race and judge what I have from the corner of my eye. Wish they were just a little bit different looking between the two of them.
  3. Random observation, but I'm playing on base Xbox One and can't seem to record or screenshot races. The options are there for menus, but not during actual gameplay. Weird, considering I seem to have no problem streaming the game.
  4. Honestly, it's been long enough since we last saw Final Fortress that I'm fine with them bringing it back. I don't feel fatigued seeing it again like Seaside Hill.
  5. This is a bit of a late reply, but I'm not sure why you brought this up in reply to my post? I was just explaining what I saw back when Transformed came out. I'm not trying to insinuate there are problems with STR *because* of what happened, if that's what you're trying to say.
  6. I recall a bit of that stuff. Lots of people seemed upset with that fan poll they were doing, like a few distinct people really drilled him on the character choices of the game and exclusions he was making to the poll at the time. I also remember some users there being upset about the DLC characters, that some felt General Winter and Willimus weren't fitting additions. Kinda sucks providing free content to your users, only to have so many of them tell you "nothing would be better than this", huh?
  7. Random question, but has anyone had any issues with Mania Plus on PC and controller support? It seems to choose when it wants to work for me.

Just trying to play with a Bluetooth Xbox controller is all.

I had problems when I tried to use a wired Xbox controller before. Works fine with my wired Switch Pro Controller, though. They're pretty cheap, too. Only $25.

Which is weird cause the wireless ones are like $70.

      Strickerx5

I’ve had no problems using my Xbox one controller. Though I do use the wireless adapter for it.

  8. I think it's important to remember that Sonic games are primarily made for kids and their writing is pretty typical for something intended for kids.

  11. I remember browsing certain fansites back in the day solely to listen to some of the music that would play on them. One site I recall had MIDI versions of both Twinkle Park and Egg Hornet from SA1. The character profiles for the characters would list all of these odd minor details about them, like their interests and dislikes. One detail I thought was odd was how Eggman was listed as having red eyes, probably just because of AoStH, but having only played a couple games at the time I was wondering where they were getting that. How and where they were able to see behind his glasses.
  12. I remember that, but I recall him saying something about animating dresses being the problem. But it's not like a game like that would've needed Smash Bros-like physics for dresses. And 3D World eventually did it no problem so it always sounded like a bullshit reason. That is if I'm remembering that right. It's kind of been a while.
  13. I do kind of hate how long they've dragged this teaser out. I recall there being gameplay at least by the second trailer for Transformed. But I guess we're at least guaranteed to see it action by E3, or at this rate, leaked by then anyway.
  14. You know what's weird to me? When games are announced and they've already got box art made for it. It felt like back in the day you'd have to wait a while for that stuff to show up.
  15. Man, they just did a big countdown with Super Sonic Racing playing just to play a video they played earlier. Sega streams are always all over the place all the time.
  16. You're free to have your own opinion, but you seem hung up on very minor aspects of the short. And I'm pretty sure the intro isn't just a "just because" reference to Sonic 3 either, it's calling back to the Sonic Mania intro and the HBH digging up the Ruby.
  17. That reminds me of some of the Archie covers with a lot of stuff going on for no reason. This one probably stuck with me the most. Oh and then there's this one as well
  18. Sumo has handled a lot of small licenses over the years, it would be really funny if this ended up being some completely different license like a Garfield Kart 2 or something. Though I'd also really like another S&AS. Transformed is one of my favorite games.
  19. People's emotions are running way too high over this comic.
  20. I feel like even if the last few games have been duds, Sega would've likely still made a lot of money off of the Sonic franchise just from merchandise of the series. It's sort of one of those juggernauts.
  21. This is what got my friend and I thinking about it. I've never seen an in-box copy of it anywhere near me, even in dedicated game stores. The cartridge comes up once in a while, but not as often as Sonic 1-3 and Spinball (Sonic and Knuckles is a bit rarer in my experience. I still don't have a cart of it for that reason).
  22. Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but another great movie to add to the list would be Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. I wasn't a fan of the show when I first saw it (just never watched it, but liked Mike Judge's other work) but it pulled me in pretty easily. It's a great introduction to the characters if someone hasn't seen the show before, and you don't need much knowledge of the characters going into it. I've known a lot of people who brush Beavis and Butt-Head off as just mindless humor, but it actually has very smart writing delivered through very dumb characters. The animation is very nicely done, though it still has the stylistic "shakiness" that the show, and to a lesser extent King of the Hill, has. It's also one of the last few animated movies to have been done almost entirely through cel animation, so anyone who is a fan of traditional animation will probably enjoy watching it if not just for that. It's likely the nicest animation you'll see out of anything Beavis and Butt-Head, except for maybe the short revival season in 2011. Some big name celebrities guest star as well, with Bruce Willis and Debi Moore playing the main antagonists, and Cloris Leachman playing an old lady that the duo run into a few times during the movie. One of my favorite bits from the movie is when Beavis mishears the lady talking about "doin' the slots" at Vegas as "sluts", which excites both of them. Her difficulty hearing means that their vulgarity goes right over her head as well. It's a bit different from the usual Beavis and Butt-Head episodes, what with there being no music videos for them to watch, but people who enjoyed King of the Hill will probably enjoy the movie as well.
  23. This is a bit of a random subject, but I was recently talking to a friend about the Genesis games and collecting in-box copies of the Sonic games. Somehow our conversation led to Mean Bean Machine and whether the game was a success or not. I didn't have any luck finding sales data anywhere online, or even a brief mention of it doing well in some interview. We know Spinball was a success, thanks to the hype and thirst for new Sonic games at the time, but what about Mean Bean? It's not like it's an obscure game, it's pretty well known these days, but that might be more because of the numerous compilations it's been included in.
  24. I think it's a save icon for one of the Sonic games on PS2. Can't remember which it was, but I know Mega Collection and one other game had a classic-style Sonic model for their save icons.
