Eternal EX got a reaction from Dee Dude in My Hero Academia
I've wondered for a while. How is this topic not blown up like the Dragon ball one? This anime is the highlight of the late spring / summer. The hype levels in these fights have people on the edge of their seat. And yes it is another shonen anime, it's done extremely well.

Eternal EX reacted to Ryannumber1gamer in What If There Was a Truly Cruel Sonic Villain?
The thing about making a cruel villain is that...it shouldn't be the sole contribution to making a villain. Making them a complete monster with no other elements doesn't make a good villain.
Take the Joker for example. People see him as one of the all time greats. There's no denying that the Joker, as a character is a monster. He's absolutely cruel, he's done horrible things, and such. But there's more to him than just that. Some of the greatest Joker stories of all time introduce aspects to his character that gives him more depth.
The Killing Joke is one of the all-time best stories, giving Joker a sympathetic backstory and a method behind the madness. When all it takes is one awful, absolutely horrible day to turn a good man into a monster, the only logical thing left is insanity. The story shows Joker at probably one of his most crazed hours, paralyzing Batgirl, kidnapping and stripping Commissioner Gordon down and subjecting him to complete and total torture in an attempt to drive him crazy and prove his point. But if you look past that and go alongside the backstory, you see something else. You see a man, a once good man who was so emotionally destroyed and broken by the world around him lose his mind and give in to the insanity in a desperate attempt to escape. Joker in the core of this story is desperate to prove something to himself more than Batman. That beneath everything, Joker is still a human man. That's how I saw things. He's so desperate to prove that all it takes is "One Bad Day" to corrupt even the most good of people, and it can happen to anyone. Gordon doesn't go insane in the end and Joker's viewpoint is challenged and he becomes angered, obviously because it shows he didn't have to fall into insanity.
It's an interesting viewpoint into Joker's mind, that shows us what he as a character thinks, it shows us that Joker wasn't always some insane monster who killed people, that he was someone who legitimately ended up losing everything and couldn't bare it. Tying him further to the idea of him being the flip-side of Batman's coin. Where Batman lost nearly everything and dedicated himself to stopping crime and making sure no one else never had to become young Bruce Wayne crying over his parent's bodies in some dark ally in Gotham, Joker lost everything and was so ripped apart by the world that the only thing he could do was join in and make others suffer as well.
The best part is at the end, they show Joker does legitimately want to change but as he says to Batman, it's just too little, too late at that point. He's done too much evil and he's too far gone. In his one true moment of sanity, he just admits that he's too far gone from that good man he once was. That's all interesting and gives depth to a character who originally was just a psycho clown.
Compare it to New 52 Joker who is nothing more than an completely psychopathic monster with no other personality or motives other than being some kind of demon who torments Batman, cuts off his own face, turns everyone into Jokerified zombies, and his backstory gets rewritten twice so that the first time he's a eternal monster dedicated to haunt Gotham, and in the second, there's four Jokers and the newest one is a total psychopath. None of that is interesting, it's totally convoluted and not to mention it relegates Joker's role to just total monster who haunts Gotham forever instead of someone who Gotham completely broke and he was too far gone to save. There's a reason people despise New 52 Joker.
A cruel villain isn't what this series needs. A villain who does nothing but be the total definition of evil is boring. There's no interesting complexities behind them, nothing people care about. Look at the other "Cruel" villains from other series. Thanos - He's someone who's in an endless quest for love with the physical embodiment of death itself, someone who cares a lot about honor and being a warrior to the point he raised two daughters to be assassins. Darkseid - One of the New Gods who rules a world and wants to expand his rule and has interesting relationships with the Justice League and Superman. Trigon - who's at constant war with his own daughter. That is all interesting and presents new aspects to these characters beyond "oh well they're cruel".
Eggman already fits the bill as "cruel" and a good villain. He's a bombastic, egotistical person. He can be full of glee and joy at points, he can team up with his enemies at points and he can even show mercy at points, even if it's just to satisfy his own ego and interests (Archie especially runs wild with this, several times he lets the Freedom Fighters go without a fight because he's just suffered enough loss and fighting for a day and just can't deal with anymore).
Then compare that to Mephiles, who most certainly is meant to be a cruel villain. All he does is spout bullshit to all three of the protagonists, literally kills Sonic, and becomes a monster bent on destruction. There's nothing interesting about that, nothing to care about. Infinite was the same, he just cared about destruction and killing because his motivation was "I'M NOT WEAAAAAK". Like what is interesting? Infinite has a weak and shallow ego? So what?
But THEN compare that to Chaos, who is literally meant to be a cruel unending monster that kills and destroys because he's "the God of Destruction". But he's actually interesting so much so that one of the biggest disappointments of Forces is the sheer fact the guy gets so screwed over in it. Chaos has an interesting backstory that shows that he's similar to Knuckles in a lot of ways. He's a protector of the Chao, and built a meaningful friendship with Tikal. He helped the heroes at several points in Archie and other pieces of media when his anger was finally calmed. Even just the aesthetic and idea behind Chaos' design is so cool, a massive monster of destruction created entirely out of water? That's a great idea. Chaos actually has things that make him interesting and people actually care enough about him to see him return in an expanded role. I can't imagine anyone would say the same for the "other totally cruel" villains like Infinite or Mephiles unless both were practically rebooted entirely.

I Target Shadow the most because he's literally a clone of sonic (coming from a shadow fan) But let the world go to shit. And don't get me started on Bitch Tails. I would feel terrible and betrayed if I were a Tails fan right about now. And yes I know about 90% of the cast could have saved the world, but the fact they let the world fall, you have the guardian of the master emerald and King of Chaos Control just sit there like...oh well it's not our game so who cares. Then add Day 1 DLC for Shadow? These writers are shit.

I'd support this. I mean Shadow is my favorite character in the series. But the fact that she hasn't seen the light since.....well 06 is something that should be used more. She's not a bad character. Neither is Shadow. They need more games. More character development. And with Omega, you literally have a powerhouse of characters on the sideline. Kinda like how The protector of the Master Emerald is now a joking idiot.

Like mentioned above, Rouge was never a villain. She was working with the government to learn more about the Shadow project in SA2. As for Shadow, after SA2, Heroes and SHTH, he became more of an ally than true hero. Yes he has his moment when he can be considered a HERO. Then he has his moments when he's more neutral. Boom considers him a villain. Honestly why? Why even ask about those 2 when we all know by the next Sonic game, they will be forgotten and not used like everyone else besides crybaby Tails.

Part of me wishes Shadow & Rouge did their own thing separately more ; partially because the former almost always steals the show whenever they're together, so the latter always feels like a tagalong. I like their friendship, so I don't want it to go away, but it'd be nice to see them take action a bit more independently and team up when they need to.

Eternal EX got a reaction from Riseodvi in Which Gameplay style do you think the next 3D Sonic game will have?
I, Like the minority, actually like the Boost games. Colors and Forces were the weakest. Genz and Unleashed were the best. And to an extent, Unleashed was the best. I wouldn't be against another BOOST game as long as it was as good as Unleashed and Genz. But if they wer to finally return to full 3D I'd support it, if it turned out good. Just no more Forces and Colors type levels. As in super short and filler levels.

Eternal EX reacted to Diogenes in What is so bad about Forces gameplay?
Generations managed to open up the levels a bit compared to Unleashed, but it also tried to be more of a platformer, and the boost gameplay really is not suited for actual platforming. Sonic controls poorly at low speeds, most of his abilities are geared towards going fast so the platforming is mostly just normal jumps and homing attacks, and most of the platforming-oriented level design is just jumping from one flat, level surface to another instead of taking advantage of the ways Sonic traditionally interacts with slopes and curves. Unleashed, on the other hand, leans more into chaining actions at high speeds, which is what the boost gameplay is actually good at, which generally makes for a smoother experience. It's debatable which is actually better; personally I think each is flawed enough that I'd rather just dismiss both.

Finally some Super Sonic gameplay, courtesy of someone who diddled with the files on PC a bit. Thus far it's the only version you can unlock him on because you need to mount the DLC or something.
You can transform when you collect 50 rings, as per usual.

Why the hell is Mania/Classic Sonic in this game? His inclusion is absolutely unneeded. We have the Avatar, Shadow and Modern Sonic that's already playable. We don't need 2 Sonics. A huge waste of space. Sorry this is a big issue I'm having with this game. Shadow and Sonic are literally the same character minus a few tiny differences. Shadow's already kicked Infinite's ass before. He's the reason Infinite wants revenge. But he's Day 1 DLC and only in 3 stages (besides a skin for sonic stages). This was a perfect time for a Shadow and Sonic game with the Avatar. But no. Mania sonic cock blocked. And sadly it was not needed. Just someone for Tails to hold hands with during the story.
