Cortez got a reaction from azoo in Cortez’s Art Thread
I haven't made a thread here in years... scared...
A lot of you may remember me as 'Professor J', I've had that username since like 2005 (before that it was SonicBlitz *cringe*) and I've hated it pretty much ever since so as sad as I am to see it go its time for a change. So please allow me to reintroduce myself, I've been drawing Sonic fan art since basically forever. I've drawn loads of artwork for the Sonic Show over the years, I used to get commissioned by AAUK (former SEGA community manager) to draw for Sonic Wrecks and I used to help run the Sonic Showcase Network (hence my staff member tag WHICH YOU BETTER NEVER EVER TAKE AWAY FROM ME ;_;)
Let's cut straight to it anyway, here is some of the more recent artwork I've drawn-

I drew this for the tenth anniversary of the Sonic Show (I drew the logo too some many years ago btw fun fact). It's actually a remake of another piece of artwork I drew for the show over a decade ago... that is depressing! (you can see the original artwork here btw -> https://professor-j.deviantart.com/art/Concept-TSS-Sonic-2-70626146) I wanted to keep the edgy look of the original art style (aka i dont know how to use photoshop) but bring it into a sleeker modern style.

I wanted to do a whole Classic Sonic project for the 25th anniversary... I didn't lol... and I ended up just drawing Sonic and Amy but I really liked how this turned out. I changed the colouring style on this like 3 times before just settling on flat colours, I kinda wish I had shaded it like the classic artwork though tbh.

Here was Amy from the same project, I'm not overly keen on this one to be honest, something feels really off about it and I don't like the higher Chao's hand on it's face, i cba to go back and change it now though hahah

This is my most recent artwork, Jay the owner of the Sonic Show asked me to design a tattoo for him and we settled on a recreation of the iconic SA2B intro scene. The actual tattoo obviously isn't coloured in SA style but I liked the artwork so much that I wanted to create a finished version of it. I'm so used to colouring in this style in the more modern Sonic Channel way so it was difficult to get all the little nuances right in this older version of the style.

This fucking thing. I drew this in 2008, since then I have seen it spread across the internet, mostly with my signature cropped out (ew why did i sign sonic fan art that was a remake of official art) and on countless YouTube videos. Truth is, I hate it, I think it's awful, it looks so flat and lifeless and off model but I wanted to show it here anyway since it's like a proper legacy piece for me hahahah. AAUK once told me that some staff members at SEGA had it as their backgrounds because they thought it was official LOL. I'd love to do a modern version tbh, I might see if I can get it done for halloween this year...

This was my winning entry for the Sonic & All Stars Transformed graffiti contest back in the day, you can actually see this artwork on the Graffiti City track. That hand couldn't physically look more rigid in retrospect and I forgot some arrows on the halfpipe (which I noticed long after I submitted and wanted to die) but overall I think its a really cool design and obviously I'm super happy I won.

edit: on mobile and no idea why my text has got black highlights but it looks good so slay I guess

Anybody remember Flint The Time Detective? I know I used to love it as a kid but I can't remember much about it, I know Petra was fucking awesome though and the concept of cute little creatures turning evil when stamped with a 'P' was like woah when I was child.

Can't remember much else about Monster Rancher either but I used to love that too.

You don’t *need* permission since it’s technically fan art but out of respect for the artist you should ask. I’d be pretty pissed off if someone tattooed my fan art without asking to be honest.
To the point though, it’s a really nice design that would look good as a tattoo.

Isn't that the Sonic 2 HD logo? You should probably ask for permission from the guy who created it before getting it done.

    --- BONUS OLD ARTWORK ---
