  1. Every time I watch a movie where a nuclear explosion occurs, I end picking apart the whole thing due to my creepy factual knowledge of what happens during an atomic explosion.

Care to explain? You interest me.

We had to write a project in 12th grade on an aspect of the Cold War, and I was allowed to research what precisely occurs during the process of a nuclear explosion and how that affected society. In short, the flash of the explosion (depending on your range, of course), should be enough to kill or stun most people. From there, good luck surviving the shockwave, and of course, the radioactive fallout THAT LASTS LONGER THAN YOU DO.

There were reports of eyes MELTING from the flash alone. So naturally, I get a little peeved when people miraculously survive an atomic explosion in movies (I'm looking at you, The Wolverine/Kingdom of the Crystal Skull).

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheDeadliestMushroom TV Tropes has the best explanation of this event and it's process. It's the source I ended up using the most for the project, surprisingly enough.
