Because Konami just have to Konami it seems.

I'm gonna blame more the people behind the series, all Konami had to do was approving or not what was proposed to them, and bad decisions at their root overtake negligence to me. They already had approved weird stuff that happened in season 3 and 4, this feels like small potato in comparison.

      It's most likely a mistake.

It says he's the "son" of them, living in 1792. The original series takes place in like 14-something? 15-something?

So they either got the date wrong (unlikely since they specifically mention the french revolution, so the date is pretty much locked), they accidentally used "son" instead of "ancestor" ooor Trevor is a couple of 100 years old in the series.

    6. Teoskaven

      Teoskaven

It might be the latter, it would made more sense. It's still a bit weird that they want to skip the events of not just I and II but also Curse of Darkness in favor of jumping already to Rondo of Blood (most likely just to set up the scene for a Symphony of the Night adaptation).

I don’t think it’s “Konami bad” in this regard and more “this what the creative staff wanted to do for some reason”. To my knowledge Konami is letting them do whenever they want.

it was a goof. He's not their son.

@Thigolf Even if that is the case, that doesn't erase the main problem stated.

Where’s the confirmation they’re completely skipping him? The announcement explicitly says this is an all new series, meaning the main anime is still ongoing, isn’t it?

Even so, it doesn't exclude automatically. By that logic we shouldn't expect potential adaptations of Lament of Innocence because the main series starts with III.

It's an out there move to skip Simon for the time being. Even if they do get to him eventually,  fans have a right to call that move out, since it looks they're doing this just to rush to the obvious Symphony of the Night adaptation.

    14. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

It really isn't, Rondo and Symphony of the Night are the two fan-favourite games in the series, it makes more than enough sense they'd want to go ahead and adapt those, especially since Symphony has the CV III characters appear as zombies, and it focuses heavily on Alucard as is.

      Jovahexeon Jax Joranvexeon

Well, no duh they're popular, but to many, it doesn't really facilitate skipping factors like Curse of Darkness or Simon flipping Belmont for the time being. It can come off as annoying.

    16. Dejimon11

      Dejimon11

Yeah I know those are the fan favorites along with Aria of Sorrow but it does suck that they’re pretty much skipping over the most iconic Belmont. I was hoping it would be like Jojo where they would cover all the games and change the protagonist every season.

    17. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

But they aren't skipping anything? It's a spinoff show that's running co-currently with the anime. That'd be like getting angry with a My Hero Academia: Vigilantes anime because it means we have to wait longer to get to the War arc in the anime.

It'd be one thing if this was taking place in the main show and they confirmed they were outright skipping the games you mention, but it's a spinoff show that takes place further into the future, spinning off one of the main characters currently in the anime, and adapting a fan-favourite series of games. That's hardly the same thing as what you're implying.

Pretty much what @Dejimon11. Even if they do eventually get to Simon, it sucks that they just wanna skip ahead to the apparent "more popular" things.

      1. It’s not an anime it’s an American made property lol

      2. They confirmed months ago that season 4 is the final season but we’re in talks to continue the universe in a new series and this what we’re getting

The way I see it, Simon is THE Castlevania protag, so it feels wrong to straight up skip him. Unless they're REALLY building up to Simon's arc being the hype conclusion. Which MIGHT work but we'll see.

      @Dejimon11

Saying the main show is cancelled and this is a continuation show is different to this is a spin-off. That completely changes things.

      @PublicEnemy1

True,  if we're also going to argue popularity, Simon is THE defacto face of Castlevania. His name is the protagonist name that comes up first when people think of the franchise. So, not skipping over his time frame feels very weird.

Building up to it is one thing, but unless they're planning to have it set in the future, it feels weird to be building up to something in the middle of the timeline with such a foregone closure.

Eh, look on the bright side. At least Simon had the privilege to be put in an animated series before this one.

      Sequels exist
      Prequels exist
      Midquels exist

I don't think this has to matter in the long run.

Man, Captain N really was one hell of a trip.....that's not even getting Alucard, Ridley or Kraid's designs.
