  1. This running gag definitely needs to return in Rift Apart.

Curious to see what happens when Emperor Nefarious breaks down.

  2. Wonder if we'll get a "Death to Squishies" remix in Rift Apart.

    1. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

This time it's sung by Nefarious

    2. Jovahexeon The Undyne

A female Nefarious from a different dimension perhaps?

    3. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

      No, its just Nefarious.

Actually,  come to think of it, maybe we'll see a return of Courtney Gears in Rift Apart.

  3. Marvel these days are terribly formulaic in the comics.

    Step 1. Plan event.

Step 2. Announce groundbreaking earth shattering revelation that they insist will be the new canon.

Step 3. Fight with fans on it.

Step 4. Deny any semblance of thought that it's temporary.

Step 5. Undo the revelation either due to massive backlash or because "SHOCK OF ALL SHOCKS", it was never going to be permanent despite their insistence to the contrary.

Sometimes you have to wonder if just making an interesting new book would work better instead. This stupid tactic makes headlines, but I've never seen any of it actually sell.

It feels like they want to go down in history shaking the industry at its core each time.

Problem is that they constantly go about doing so wrong that they see blast for it, and they can't afford a mass exodus of comic book fans as it is.

"these days"? They've been pulling that one for longer than either of us have been alive.

    4. Jovahexeon The Undyne

      Jovahexeon The Undyne

I feel like back in the day, they at least just mainly made good new stories and saw what stuck naturally instead of trying to brute force it like they do nowadays.

  4. HashTAG GADGETTRON

    UGH.

    1. Jingilator

      Jingilator

I got this game for free knowing fully well what I was getting myself into, but I still genuinely cringed when I experienced it for myself for the first time. That's the level of cringy this game's writing is.

Yeah, it's a good thing we have different writers for Rift Apart, one of them wrote for Insomniac's Spider-Man.

  5. Let Iizuka make a new NiGHTS game.

  6. I do pity Iizuka quite a bit. He seems to be in a position where he doesn't get as much say, but still gets made a scapegoat target.

He's certainly not a saint, but he is often the victim of people not doing as much research as they could....or just checking the credits of certain games to see how little pull he had in them.

That does get annoying, especially since he helped Mania be far much more better than it would have originally been.

He still has the passion, but he needs a full-on opportunity to show it.

    1. The Master

      The Master

I had an experience a few years back when I met Mr Iizuka, I had a Chaos 0 Plush on me which him and Yuji Naka both pointed at it, saying Chaos and got really excited. He has so much love for the franchise, it hurts when people blame it all on him.

    2. Rabbitearsblog

      Rabbitearsblog

I never liked it when people blame one person for the mistakes of a franchise when it's a lot more complicated than that.  For all we know, Iizuka might have been taking orders from the higher ups of SEGA and he was just doing what they asked him to do, even if those orders could put the franchise in jeopardy.  It feels like people are blaming him because his name pops up on who's working on the franchise and people are not taking the time to actually examine the inner workings of the company.

      expansivelovestories

Yes; the same thing happens with Pokemon, other game series, as well as most bands/musicians who have followings!!  everyone parrots blaming the frontperson, without ever considering that a constant stream of (to me the concept of perfection is a metaphor) perfect games/albums would bring the creators up an impossibly steep peak.  The sometimes baffling risks and changes are necessary to keep the series' artists on steady footing into the future.

Man, that court case between Epic and Apple have been leaking quite a lot of juicy deets.

  8. Regarding RE8's story, I'll just say this: Called it, called that, called this, called it. Oh boy did I call it.

    Oh and also

    Spoiler

Yeah lol. Nope. Ethan ain't gonna be the one to continue the lineage.

  9.  FOR THOSE who didn't know, Sephiroth's internal development codename was "Edge".

  10. Sora and Kairi are trending? Well that's nice. Good for those lovebirds.

    1. Teoskaven

Poor poor Raiku. The true OTP is a throuple relationship with the three.

I always feel so awkward because I don't ship SoRiku or SoKai. I just sit here in my little RiKai corner hiding from all the chaos.

Sora and Kari are here! So is Mimi!

  11. Sonic Omens was very aptly named given all the crap going down with that mess.

  12. Fascinating. Game Builder Garage will only be $30.

    1. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

Dreams was released cheaper than most PS4 games too.

    2. Teoskaven

      Teoskaven

Considering also the marketing i wager it's not gonna be a heavily pushed title with contents like Mario Maker 2, so it makes sense.

    3. DanJ86

      DanJ86

I watched an Arlo video about it and he said that apparently Labo had a similar function in some way. I just wonder if the Game Builder was taken from Labo and changed to function without it? Hence the cheaper price.

    4. Iko

      Iko

I consumed my DS Lite with Wario Ware DIY so for that price I might consider doing the same to my Switch Lite with this new "game" as well 😁

  13. I'm not alone in thinking it should've been called Balan Wonderland instead of Wonderworld, am I?

    1. Dejimon11

      Dejimon11

      Is this a rhetorical question?

    2. pppp

      pppp

Jova, literally everyone has said that.

    3. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

Me, an intlectual new that the real title should've been

      Balan WonderG A L A X Y

    4. HPX

      HPX

      Balan Wake

    5. Rabid-Coot

      Rabid-Coot

      We're used to hearing wonderland

Its close to rhyming if it is that way

There's a thing where you can have all the middle letters of a word jumbled and still read it normally if the first and last are normal and wonderworld is most of wonderland.

    6. TheOcelot

      TheOcelot

      More like Balan Blonderworld

    7. Ferno

      Ferno

      Balorld Wonderworld

  14. The Mia section both slaps and hurts at the same time.

    1. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

It was the Apollo section that gging me. His stories in DD and SoJ were so shit, and his original story has been completely forgotten about.

    2. JosepHenry

      JosepHenry

      Edgeworth one

What. Who says that and what Edgeworth fan would be against it lol

At least he is not straight, that's basically facts lol

Also people who said AA4 was bad and they missed Phoenix honestly ruined Apollo to me because of the 100 backstories he got, I loved Apollo as simple as he was and what was going on in AA4 and then turned into a mess.

    3. Nix

      Nix

Apollo's 100 backstories would probably work if they spent some time developing him instead of sidelining him for his entire career. Shit just flies at you too damn fast.

    4. Jovahexeon The Undyne

      Jovahexeon The Undyne

AA4 was definitely bad, but I do agree with the sentiment that perhaps a little too much was thrown away that had to do with it. And Apollo's backstory while technically "stronger" is a bit of a mess now with how much they lumped onto it.

  15. The train station bits killed me.

  16. The Activision prophecy has made this video relevant again I see.

    1. Dejimon11

      Dejimon11

I’m not going to hear the end of this for a while aren’t I?

    2. Jovahexeon The Undyne

      Jovahexeon The Undyne

Hm? What is this in reference to?

    3. Jovahexeon The Undyne

      Jovahexeon The Undyne

Is this about me calling that Activision would eventually screw the series and its devs over for some?

  17. Imagine this. Activision license out Crash and Spyro. But that just ends up with mediocre WoC-tier games.

Suddenly Activision will scream that they're "justified" in putting them back in the icebox when they sell even less.

Oh boy. That would be WFC series ten times over.

  18. Call of Duty literally has nine studios all dedicated to it. Yet, from what I've heard the upcoming game is apparently the next garbage fire this side of Anthem, Avengers and Cyberpunk.

    1. DanJ86

      DanJ86

I think I only played a CoD game, once. Or...was it Medal of Honour? Is their a difference?

Either way, shooters aren't my genre. I'd only pick one up if it did something different, visually or gameplay wise.

    2. Sega DogTagz

      Sega DogTagz

CoD comes out annually tho, so while all these devs may have a hand of the franchise, there are also often 2 or 3 games in development simultaneously.

    3. Strickerx5

      Strickerx5

They've literally already hitting the brink of fucking wartime scenarios to begin with... unless they keep remaking the same ones which, ya know what, I'm just going to stop myself there because that's exactly what they're going to do.

    4. Jovahexeon The Undyne

      Jovahexeon The Undyne

@Strickerx5I heard this new upcoming game is apparently supposed to be a What If WW2 Lasted Into the 50's scenario.

So yeah, they're pretty much doing that.

    5. Dejimon11

      Dejimon11

They put out a statement but I don't believe them

    6. Jovahexeon The Undyne

      Jovahexeon The Undyne

Oh yeah, I've seen that statement. That likely just means that those employees left instead of getting fired.

Which has tons of nuance obviously not explored in that statement so yeah, dubious at best.

The mentioning of those openings is more suspicious than anything.

    7. jungle_penguins

      jungle_penguins

High Moon still on that? I'm dead.

They really gotta stop with the annual releases

  19. Amazing

Just what will the internet think of next?

    1. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

They wouldn't be nearly as lucky if they tried to play Sunshine Airport or Super Bell Subway

  20. Imagine that Activision put King in the driver's seat for Crash from now on.

He'll be alive....just in mobile games.

    1. Dejimon11

      Dejimon11

So it’s Rayman all over again

  21. Ah yes. It's always a good sign for a floundering game when its director jumps ship without any fucks to give.
