  1. Sadly no. I beat the main story mode last night or did enough to unlock solo mode so might as well post my thoughts here.

Let's stat with the presentation, it looks absolutely beautiful and the music is nice but that's par for the course when it comes to this series. I've only played it in hand held mode so I can't confirm if the game runs at 60 i'll have to look into that. Special mention to the UI being clean AF! Gameplay wise it pretty much plays like every Kirby game since RTDL on the Wii. So if you've played that you'll feel right at home just don't expect this to be as technical as smash bros but more how you fight bosses in kirby games.

I'm disappointed that only a select handful of the dream friends are playable who are Waddle Dee, Gooey, Magalor, King DeDeDe and Meta Knight. Some of the others are just stage hazards even Dedede is one in his wrestling ring stage. They have all the models from Star Allies and i wouldn't mind if they swapped out some kirby's for the others. Like with replan paint Kirby with Adelenie w/Ribbon etc

The story mode is pretty much a gantlet of battles but you'll get the chance to increase your states after reach round. It's also split into 5 chapters being a select number of floors. First 1 is 5 and the final chapter is 50 battles. I'm not too sure but i believe you you need to beat chapters 4(30 rounds) and 5 in order to unlock Meta knight and Dedede respectively.

I wish there was some more stuff added like a multi man smash, break the targets or maybe took some of the mini games that were in Kirby Battle royal cause just doing fights is a bit monotonous especially for story mode. Doesn't help that the game is very grind heavy for you to unlock stuff.

Played a few matches online and it worked pretty well although this is also lacking in variety. When playing with friends you have the options to do a free for all or with teams and from what i can tell you can turn off stage hazards and items. But playing with randoms it's always 2v2 and every time a match ends you're placed with a different group of people. I think that aspect can use some improvement on like 1v1, a tournament mode, playing against randoms with your online friends but we'll see,

As it stands the game is pretty much alright and looks to be a game I'll play every once in a while with friends. Unless you're a die hard Kirby fan maybe just wait a little bit for it or use all your eshop coins to get it at a discount. If this was a typical Nintendo game being sold at $60 i would of been pissed.

Honestly I wish they'd just give us a Sonic style Hyrule Hystoria. Ian's dropped all these little tidbits and I believe has mentioned seeing the timeline of the games so all this info is there I just wish they'd actually put it out for everyone.

I'm telling you right now that it's not going to work out in the way you're asking. Given how Zelda fans are still arguing about the Zelda timeline and how what was established in the Hystoria contradicted itself maybe it's not the best idea.

Toys 4 Bob weren’t in charge of the original remakes for Crash right? They did Spyro Reignited. So that’s interesting that’s who they’re going with

Well they did handle the Switch port of the N.Sane Trilogy. And Vicarious Visions is busy with the Tony Hawk Pro Skater remakes

Yea, I feel like Tails is more of the problem in Lost World than Sonic himself; Sonic knows he screwed up, but his first course of action, instead of trusting his closest companion, is to go to his arch enemy. It makes sense on paper, but it does demonstrate a lack of faith in his partner.

Lost World's biggest issue though is never giving Sonic a chance to redeem himself and reestablish his strengths; the game was good at exposing his weaknesses, but after you break something down, you need to build it back up.

If the game was more about Tails` POV instead of Sonic's, I don't think it would have come off as bad,

I don't think that he lacked any faith in Tails. It's just that Eggman was the one who built it and that they're both screwed if they don't shut the machine off and take care of the Deadly Six plus Sonic wasn't keen on working with him either. It's also weird when you remember that they've worked together several times on different occasions.

  5. It's been a while since I started a thread here huh?

I saw this video a few days ago and I figured it could warrant a fun discussion. While I don't agree with everything he says like the no weapons for Sonic and in terms of switching characters would be like switching styles from DMC3 in a Sonic Heroes way(God no). Plus people here like @Wraith and @Kuzu have pointed out that Sonic and DMC have parallels so why not the extra mile.

  6. So since Colors is a hot topic I went back to replay it and I can safely say it's just an ok game. I don't know what it is about the platforming but it's just too stiff for my liking, the drift is pretty bad and the other 3D sections feel a bit lacking for my taste.

However I will say that the Wisp themselves are pretty well executed since the game was actually built around them. While they are mostly optional you're basically getting the best experience when you use them and the game encourages replayability once you unlock more of them so that's neat. It makes me wonder why the hell did they get it right the first time but every other time when the wisp are there they suck especially with SEGA insisting that they're series staples now.

And since everybody is talking about the story yeah it's shit. I'm fine with a light hearted approach but man this game tries too hard to be funny even when there's a serious moment it doesn't feel earned or sincere I just feel indifferent.

If I'm being perfectly honest; Colors` story is so inconsequential to me that it's not even worth getting upset over. I understand WHY others don't like it, but I really can't bring myself to care myself and think its mostly just fluff.

I just hate how the story impacted the direction of the series more than anything.

  7. So I won't lie the trailer did a better job at presenting itself compared to the first one. Visually Sonic looks great and it's amazing how much of a 180 they did with his design. The action scenes also look like they're gonna be a treat so the film has that going for it.

However the story itself still looks bad so I'm most likely gonna skip it and wait for it to pop on Netflix or something.

...How fucking scrub was the Alola League that he was able to win without a full team?

    Spoiler

Simple because everybody else didn't have a full team either. Hell some of the guys entering this thing only had 1. Helps that he was the person to actually get all the Z crystals so in a way he was the only one to have actually earned it.

Is it though? In all the mainline games it's been in like 3 since the original.

I know this is an old comparison but Mario always has more or less the same level structure of starting in Grass and ending in Lava but nobody complains about that.

Clearly you haven’t been paying attention to the constant complaint about how stagnated the series was since NSMBW pre Odyssey.

Was Heroes the only game you played in the 2000's or what?

I'm not going to say that Sonic was the most interesting character back then, but that's blatantly false and more conjecture of how people meme'd him back then,

So I’ve been recording footage for Heroes and Sonic is still cocky as ever in that game. He only has a few corny teamwork lines and that’s like at the end of the game. People need to stop over exaggerating when they come across their points.

Also I don't really get the complaints that cartoons are too short nowadays. Theatrical cartoons were 7 minutes long, most "30 minute" cartoons were really 2 11 minute segments with occasional full half hour episodes. It hasn't really changed that much. It's just now they air the segments apart from each other.

I'm only speaking for myself here: Whenever I say that it's either because I was enjoying it and I wanted to see more of it or in the case of Steven Universe it feels like nothing happens until the last 4 mins and when things are starting to get good the episode ends.
