  1. I need some help. I was on my HP laptop and I shut the screen. When I opened the screen the power button was blinking and the screen wasn't turning on so I held it down until it stopped blinking. The screen still won't turn on and when I plug in the charger the light comes on to show it's charging. If someone can, please help.

It doesn't go into the HP logo or anything after a full hard reboot?

I tried but I can't figure out how to do a hard reboot. What exactly does that do?? I wouldn't think it deletes anything or resets it does it??

No.  It just means you hold down the power button until it's off.  If after holding it long enough and it turns off and it goes into the HP logo before permanently going black, you might try booting into safe mode and doing a system restore.

If it doesn't do anything at all, then you might try hard rebooting again. take out the battery, hold down the power button for about 40 seconds, replace the battery, and try again.

If that doesn't work, it sounds like your video driver is corrupted (or your screen is broken, but it sounds like the former to me) and you may have to take it to be repaired.

Ok. Thank you for your help.

I actually have 1 more question. Was there any way to prevent this or is there any explanation for why it happened??

    5. Tara

There's too many factors that could possibly explain it, so it depends on a lot of things.  Ideally, you can prevent it with proper maintenance and not looking at shady porn sites or something, but sometimes computer parts get old or they malfunction just because.  It's hard to say.

      No problem.
