  1. Just saw Ready Player One... I really think it might be up there with some of my favorite movies of all time.

Story-wise I'm not sure if EVERY beat flowed perfectly but the Oasis world was so well done and creative with all its little game-y nuances that I really just want to see more of it.

If they do a sequel, I hope they 90s the shit out of it.

Wow. I just went to see it  last night too. My partner and I both thought that it was awful.

I haven't seen it yet. Kinda want to though.

@Blue Blood Huh. What did you find awful about it?

    5. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

Cliché, generic, predictable, plot hole ridden, unbelievable.

      Crap, basically. Utter tosh.

Well, that’s certainly a, uh... strong opinion.

I could see its story and character-related flaws, but I just had so much fun watching it and it resonated with me in such a way that it still ranks pretty high in my book. To each their own, man.

    7. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

Yeah, I mean, fair enough. The film has done fairly well with critics and at the box office. But I honestly just don't have a single positive thing to say about it. It sucked.

  2. Something else I noticed the IDW comic does differently: There are no extra details on the cover promoting the fact that it's the first issue.

If this were Archie, there would definitely be a "1st Issue!" blurb and probably also an enlarged #1 in the corner. They even did that for the first issue in each new story arc during the reboot.

    1. Betz

Also noticed that the BG color for each page is blue instead of white which Archie never did

    2. Big Panda

Because “#1” issues sell, and Archie are desperate.

@Terriful Ooh, good catch. It did seem like most of the pages had a "darker" look to them overall but I could never put my finger on why.

@Ernest-Panda I don't doubt that. I think I remember reading an interview where Ian or one of the editors talked about the psychology of seeing a "#1" on the cover and how it drives sales.

I do like how IDW is able to be more subtle and just have all the info neatly in the corner, giving the artwork more room to shine.

  3. Nintendo Direct with Smash announcement, Jessica Jones season 2 up on Netflix, and a teaser for new Steven Universe episodes.

    Today's been a good day.

  4. The two worlds thing still makes me want to rub my temples. Even though Sonic X did something like that, I never once thought about it with any of the actual games growing up.

Even looking at it as potentially their way of hand-waving their own inconsistency with the games' locales, I still don't see it as something that even needed hand-waving in the first place, and I don't see how all of it would make any less sense as one world in a series like Sonic. I loved that post-reboot Archie treated it that way and I thought Ian did a great job tying everything together. I'm sure he'll do a great job fleshing out the two worlds thing as well, but... eghh.

There's a new Nendoroid BotW Guardian... and it comes with a translucent Game Over screen.

    This is amazing.

Why can't we just have this things as normal toys and not be cursed with such exterme quality and accesories?! Why must they pander only to the wealthy and deticated???

  6. I platinum'd inFamous Second Son a few weeks ago... and just now I platinum'd First Light.

    my longest yeah boy ever.mp4

  7. Me with the new Totaku figures: "I don't need it... I don't need it..."

    1. blueblur98

you can say they're a cash grab, you can say they're an amiibo clone (even though it's not, and amiibo weren't even the first character crossover figure line anyways) but totaku figures look great.

my favorite is the sackboy one:

      he's so detailed!

    2. -Justin-

If there’s a Sly Cooper one in the future, I’ll be like, “I NEEEEED IIIIIIIIIIIIT.”

    3. Metal the Mario

      Metal the Mario

@blueblur98 Totally agreed. I think what really sets them apart is that it's not just Sony characters, but also third-party and now even Xbox-exclusive franchises (as we saw with the Gold Hoarder figure) all in one consistent line. That's a huge amount of potential characters, and the interlocking bases aspect makes collecting and displaying them really appealing to me.

I think my favorites so far (besides Sonic) would be PaRappa and the WipEout ship.

    4. blueblur98

      they have interlocking bases?

    5. Metal the Mario

      Metal the Mario

There aren't any parts that do that or anything; just that the shape of the bases allows them to fit together:

  8. Man, people weren't kidding when they said Fetch's neon powers in First Light were more enjoyable than Delsin's. Almost all of her abilities feel so speedy and satisfying. Dashing through a neon cloud damn near feels like boosting in a modern Sonic game.

  9. Was waiting for inFamous: First Light to go on sale after I beat Second Son a week ago. Suddenly there's a PSN flash sale and it's only $5.99. Aw yiss.

  10. Now that the Sonic Battle Racers game is introducing more characters, I kinda hope there's a way you can just buy the figurines separately. I'd buy a complete set if it meant finally getting an Omega figure.

  11. Just realized it's been over two years since the first episode of the SMBZ reboot. Whatever DID happen to that? Did the creator ever explain why it stalled?

    1. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

He advertise the series on his Patreon, but Nintendo had just started their anti-fanfic/fangames wraith, and he was among the victims. He has since turned to focusing on furry art.

    2. Dee Dude

      Dee Dude

Nintendo took down the patreon for copyright because they’re asses so Alvin pretty much gave up leaving SMBZ dead in the water for good.

    3. Metal the Mario

      Metal the Mario

Damn. :/ I think I remember hearing about that, but I wasn't sure if he was still going to work on it regardless. I didn't think it would lead to him abandoning it altogether, but it's understandable given the amount of effort that went into each episode.

  12. Finally platinum'd inFamous Second Son. Even though I've effectively done everything there is to do, I've grown so attached to the story and characters that I'm kind of not ready to move on from the series yet. Guess I really need to get First Light at some point.

  13. Been replaying inFamous 1 and 2. Even though I really like Cole MacGrath in both games, I still can't shake the feeling that the changes they made to him (voice, appearance, etc.) in 2 make him feel like a different character.

Don't get me wrong, they're good changes, but I just have a hard time picturing inFamous 1's Cole in 2's story and vice versa.

    1. MegasonicZX

Yeah, the voice change especially kinda threw me for a loop when I first started it, he almost feels like a completely different character (and considering that he was going to look like Nathan drake before, I guess that makes sense).

    2. Patticus

Changes that big warrant a full update of the original, in my view.

    3. RedFox99

Zeke also really changed given how he feels more fleshed out.

    4. Metal the Mario

      Metal the Mario

@MegasonicZX Yeah, the fact that he was even more drastically different before they toned him down shows how much they wanted to go in a different direction with the character.

@Patticus I'd actually love a remake of inFamous 1 in the style of 2 with updated voices and mo-cap cutscenes.

@RedFox99 Very true. For some reason Zeke's change was never as much of an issue to me, but that might just be because he still has the same voice actor. And that unlike Cole (where I like both iterations), I liked Zeke much more in the sequel.

    5. RedFox99

Honestly, I liked 2's story and writing more. Helps that we got a more likable companion. That scene where Cole apologizes to Zeke wanted my heart.

  14. Just finished the Paper Trail missions from inFamous Second Son. I thought the interactivity across different media was a really cool concept and some of the online "puzzles" were surprisingly deep. Kinda wish the ending was a little more satisfying and that you got an actual paper power upon completing it, but I enjoyed it all the same.

I need to play First Light sometime...

  15. Around early 2016, my brother surprised me with the Wii U + Wii version of this game since he'd remembered me mentioning it. I forgot where he got it (either Target or Best Buy) but it was on clearance for $10. I ended up playing through the Wii U and Wii versions back to back and you can definitely appreciate the quality and vision of the latter. The Wii U version felt like a clunky platformer by comparison, with washed-out colors, more empty terrain that served no purpose, and a bizarre limit on flying that wasn't in the original. It's a pipe dream at this point with Yuji Naka moving to Square Enix, but the more I think about it, I'd love to see a remaster of the Wii version on the Switch. It'd be a great opportunity to give it second chance in the spotlight, especially on a more successful console.
