Unless someone like Retro Studios handle it, I'd rather it not happen.

Retro Studios would be ideal. A big part of what reignited my interest in a new game was that rumor from a few years ago involving them and Monster Games.

Diddy Kong Racing was a classic that I still say to this day is a better game than Mario Kart 64. Diddy Kong Racing DS was pretty bad and that was done by Rare. Retro Studios have proven themselves to make great games in the past so I'd trust them.

If Playtonic were allowed i'd want them to do it as well.

I don't think there was anything technically wrong with the DS version of DKR except for the fact that it got stripped of most of its character(s) (both literally and figuratively).

Playtonic and Retro could do it now really easily I bet. Yooka-Laylee's basically done so they must be able to work on another game. Playtonic could do design, art, music, etc while Retro provides assistance in coding and whatnot, since Playtonic is only what, 24 people max? They could do it, but I can see it being easier with Retro literally pulling a Mario Kart 7 and using that experience to help them build the game on Switch, but only enough to not slow down work on their main Switch game.
