  1. Here a million-dollor question,  Would you say Forces had a better story than LW?

As a person who made a 20 minute video ripping Lost World's story a new one...

Forces has a better everything than Lost World, though that's not saying much.

Yes, including soundtrack. I hate LW's soundtrack.

I’ll watch the LW story and let you know. :)

I would, but that doesn't say much.

It has more characters, some who actually do something for once, the edge lord villian is better than Six Single-Trait Squad, higher stakes and fewer kiddy jokes, but the other problems of LW's plot and beyond still lingers here. The Pontaff writing is still around, now mutated with the JP writer's power of friendship anime goop. Tails is demoted from one evil (asshole) to another (coward in distress). Once again, the villians don't get any proper sendoff and just disappear after their boss fight (if you don't the population gag, even Eggman himself)

And so much stuff about Forces seems to've been made to put your Suspension of Disbelief to the test. You're made to assume that Eggman has gone and taken over the entire world, and with Sonic gone everyone is helpless and he's nigh unstoppable. Yet:

      - The stage designs barely scream world domination

      - There's no sign of any of the 99% of the population in alligance with Eggman

      - Virtually no one seemed to have made a remotely real attempt to fight back, despite many characters have previously been able to fight back without Sonic

On top of whenever somebody tells us that something dramatic is happening, often it "happens" offscreen. Telling over showing at it's finest.

Lost World is still a blank slate in comparasion, but at least a blank slate can't get as many plotholes. A take over the world plot makes for an instant improvement of a concept, but the execution has told me that just meant the writers have offically ran out of ideas.

I don't really think one is better than the other but I just don't like either of their stories, honestly. Lost World at least feels more consistent with itself even if the story is boring and the characters are annoying. Forces has an interesting setup that it squanders from the start.

I hate both of them... a lot, but at least there was an attempt to make Infinite and the rest of Force's narrative interesting on paper. Unlike the D6 and the Lost Hex as a whole which were just prime "people still joke about Shadow and 06 so Sonic stories and characters can't be anything" trash. Seriously, fucking Little Planet got more explanation in CD than the Lost Hex did.

Force's easily wins this gd tank bowl of a showdown.

Eggman was a much more dynamic character in Lost World.

The moment where he threw himself in front of the rogue Cubot to save Tails's life without even hesitating shows a heroic side to his character that I really like to see. (And while less "heroic," seeing him punch down a wall is pretty badass.)

Forces Eggman just feels disorganized and flat in comparison. He took over the world and then barely seems to do anything with his empire. It should've been his finest hour, but it comes off as one of the character's weakest and least interesting appearances of the decade.

By less egg-related metrics, I also think Lost World's smaller core cast let it do more with the characters it chose to focus on. Not all of it good, to be fair, as I thought Tails was pretty bad in LW. Sonic was fine though. And Orbot and Cubot getting more than a couple of brief cameo-worthy lines (as they did in Forces) is a plus as well.

Neither game has a "good" story but for my money, Lost World has the more enjoyable one.

      No. Absolutely not.

Lost World actually made an attempt at interesting character writing with how the dynamic between Sonic, Tails, and Eggman is portrayed. We can bitch about Tails being "out of character" in LW, but at least he had some fucking agency in that game rather than just being Classic Sonic's mouthpiece.

Forces is boilerplate as it gets. A giant void of actual nothing with some cheap fan service sprinkled about.

I'd say "no" but on the basis that they're equal in quality rather than Lost World being better.

In both cases, I want to like what they were going for but the execution falls flat.

They have a lot in common, but Forces manages to carry it's pretty basic theme of friendship and through to the end, which is something Lost World fails to do with whatever it was getting at. The characters are a little more bearable with the decreased emphasis on bad jokes and childish infighting. Newcomer Infinite inspires just a bit more intrigue than The Deadly Six. I've decided it's better even if it isn't by much.

    12. Milo

Yes, but only because we got edgy Sonic back from it. Infinite alone wipes his ass with all of the Zeti in entertainment factor.

      now give me my money
