Jealous?! Oh, I'm not jealous in the slightest. The only gripe I have about Homem's popularity is that it's /undeserved/. I honestly find no astronomical difference in his repertoire of jokes and that joke just now... So because that popular guy's allegedly funny, everyone jumps in on a bandwagon to adore and worship him, while Spin gets flac for a similar act? Really, if you're going to go "what the hell" to a Joe who makes offensive jokes... Please, do the sa...

I think the worst ones I heard of was called the Iron cow method. Basically, you get shoved in an iron cow, and get slow cooked. It burns your skin off completely first, and then graudually cooks you to death. I was taught this in school...
I think getting your head shoved up your mothers vagina is worse tho.

I would definitely get it checked out as soon as possible if you haven’t done so already. Our health is just one of those things you shouldn’t take chances on as it is better to be safe than sorry amid uncertainty. Just too many things can go wrong by one simple thing abnormally happening within our bodies.
Hope it’s nothing serious and you’ll be okay.

Okay I really need to refresh pages before making replies to important statuses like this...In my defense I wanted to express my concern for you right away as the situation seemed urgent enough.
I totally missed the message that you were okay and I was going to send you a PM to see how you were doing. Was checking my email notifications this morning and context-wise learned that you were okay. Glad and relieved to hear that.
You just never know with these things with our health so it’s better to be overly cautious as opposed to nonchalant any day to possibly avoid and prevent serious problems.
-
I appreciate the concern, thanks guys. I honestly wasn't expecting this sort of response when I made the status to begin with.
What happened was I'd been coughing really badly over the last few days, and last night I coughed so hard that I made myself throw up, within which there was an eggcup's worth of a bright red substance that I could only assume was blood (I hadn't eaten anything red that day), after which the back of my head felt sore.
The paramedic confirmed that I had simply burst a minor blood vessel in my throat and there was no cause for alarm.
I've had this cough for quite a while however, so I'm going for a chest x-ray later this week.
-
Glad you're fine at the very least. I've been to too many hospital and clinic visits recently for my liking, so I'm glad things won't come to this for you.
-
Ryannumber1gamer and Big Panda reacted to this
-
What can I say? Issues and rifts aside we’re like family here as we care and make it a point to show concern when the time calls for it often. The majority of the responses here I think really reinforces this.
Glad it was nothing serious. I guess have an automatic paranoia when it comes to blood vessels bursting as I had one and a tumor developed on my right hand as a result last year. Thankfully it was benign but to say I was terrified is a severe understatement.
But you’re okay (with the blood vessel at least. Hope you can get that cough cleared up soon) and that is what is most important here ?
-
Just seeing this now, happy it ended up being nothing in the long run, but still it was good to check and be sure that it was nothing huge.
I do hope that cough leaves soon. Having a violent cough is the worst and if it was enough to cause this in the first place, that can't be very pleasant. Just take good care of yourself and try to relax.

I'm genuinly perplexed over how people are already jumping on the "SINNOH WILL NEVER GET REMAKES AT THIS RATE" bandwagon.
Like...we literally only had ORAS not too long ago. Cool your mammaries.
-
-
-
@Boomer still feels incredibly recent to me
To compare: the gap between FRLG and HGSS was 5 years, and the gap between HGSS and ORAS was 4 years.
-
-
-
-
-
That is a good point, but at this point I wouldn't even be surprised they remake DP anyway for the money
@Dejimon11 Type: Null/Silvally says hi
-
So @TCB you know I said "Blatant" right? Besides the type null stuff I'm sure there was more that I'm forgetting
-
@Celestia 2019 you say?
Between September 24th or November 26th of that year calling it two years from now
I don't think you can't get any more blatant than Type:Null/Silvally as far as Gen 4 references in SuMo goes.
-
@Dejimon11 yes, just like how Diamond and Pearl had a lot of Johto references, but they didn't rush HGSS out.
@Rusty Spy that's a really good point I didn't consider before. For all we know, Nintendo might think, because this generation will most likely continue to be on 3DS, then there's no point in Sinnoh remakes because the original Sinnoh games can still be played on the system.
In which case, we'll be waiting until a generation that's on a new handheld that lacks original DS support.
-
-
-
@TCB yes. But we probably wouldn't get a core series title on the Switch until Gen 8.
-
The same amount of time will have passed between ORAS and this November as the gap between HGSS and ORAS. This could have easily been the year to do it. Also, wasn't that whole Pokemon Bank system made to carry over Pokemon across different versions?
I mean, I'm still not really complaining because now the gen 4 remake has a chance of being anything higher than 240p(ish) but a lot of signs were pointing to it being for this year. This was supposed to be the one Nintendo franchise that we could actually predict releases from guys... DX
-
-
Yeah we could! Black and White 2 were the "third version" of that generation. Then we got a rema- ...well we got a new gen after that but that's one abnormality! Then we had the third version of X&Y being Pokemon z... fuck ive been living a lie of false security.
We're still due for a remake though.
-
@Dejimon11That's because people didn't learn after B2W2 to not expect the same type of third version like Platinum. XY was kind of a fluke since it didn't get ANY re-release, but by the time Sun and Moon rolled around, anyone seriously thinking they'd do something like a Stars version were being willfully naive.
-
-
@CelestiaTimewise yes. And I still do not understand this hesitancy for a Pokemon game on the Switch. A handheld hybrid console should have meant that Game Freak could have had all the utilities of an actual system without breaking their sacred handheld only philosophy... but nah

@PaddyFancy Boomer and Depression Kong summed up the brunt of it, but there's also a lot of people like myself who don't like the overuse of the laugh track and find the show's style of humor to be super shallow (both of which would be issues even if we could somehow surgically remove the unfortunate implications of stuff like Sheldon's characterization from the show).
And I mean, I am a neuroatypical mentally ill person, but I don't mind characters with a mental illness or a spectrum disorder getting involved in the comedy. The perfect angel savant depiction is also damaging in its own way by implicitly degrading anybody who isn't like that (which is... basically everybody. Even somebody who is a genius isn't perfect.) and there's way too many ways for the inspirationally disadvantaged depiction to turn from encouraging to condescending, so in some ways I actually prefer shows to get everybody involved in the comedy. That and unfortunately, there are douchebags in real life and some of them happen to have a spectrum disorder or mental illness. The thing that bothers me is that too many shows use these things as a character trait when its more of an attribute-- using autism as a personality trait is like defining a character's personality as "girl" or "black" in that it doesn't make sense at best and is super insulting at worst.
@Ernest-Panda, to answer your question, some people see Sheldon as a character who has autism as a personality trait, which is insulting because he very frequently acts like a pompous jerk with the implication that he can't help it because he's autistic. IRL, as you probably know, autistics can accidentally come off as rude or dismissive because of their bluntness, but that's usually unintentional and agreed not to be an excuse for poor behavior, as all autistics can learn how to recognize when they've accidentally hurt others' feelings and learn how not to in the future. A better way to go about it IMO would be to have Sheldon be a character who is a pompous jerk who also happens to have autism, while making it clear that autism doesn't justify or cause his jerk moments. -
-
-
@Boomer yeeeaaah... no offence, but that’s the kind of scenario that I’ve heard sooooo many BBT haters use as an example of their humour, and I, to this day, do not see where they’re coming from. There is referential humour, yes, but it’s nowhere near as overused as people make it out to be.
-
@Ernest-Panda You'll have heard it so many times as it's what many people take from the show. I used to watch it myself, my dad still does, but it gradually pissed me off over time. Now I can't stand the show.

Sonic SatAM is about child soldiers who have normalized their struggle against tyranny.
Even if they win, they still lose because they never got a proper education as kids, don’t know how to function in a society that isn’t dysfunctional and brutal anymore, possibly have a long list of psychological issues that have been inadequately addressed for a long time, and don’t have a whole lot of family and friends who can help them by providing a roof over their heads and stuff like that. Plus the friends and family they lost are never coming back and they know it.

See that blue-clothed guy in the Wiggles?
He struggled with worsening severe depression that left him sobbing off-stage, feeling utterly worthless, and wanting to kill himself. For a long time performing on stage was the only thing that made him remotely happy, and even then his happiness dissolved the moment his performance was over.
Anybody you know could be facing the same struggles he did. Even the people that seem relentlessly positive and happy. Especially the people that seem relentlessly positive and happy.
Blue Wiggle fortunately got help and spoke out about what happened, but many people with depression don’t and it took him a very long time to get the help he needed. They just suffer in silence for years and/or kill themselves.
So remember kids, your friends and family could be suffering at any moment from something you can’t see or defeat while convincing everybody that they’re very happy, at least up until they can’t take it anymore and suddenly shift their choices. The happiness of people you care about and perceive as successful might be just a saccharine lie. Sweet dreams!

So in Smash Ultimate we have:
-The main protagonist of a game that is filled to the brim with sexism, homophobia and transphobia.

It's more like the world isn't homogeneous in its views on homsexuality and Japan is very different to UK and the West in general. Persona speaks of wilful ignorance, and the DQ composer is a hack. You just have to separate the art from the artist. People are always going to disagree and, sad though it is, people are allowed to be homophobic etc.
-
Big Panda and Supah Berry reacted to this
-
Seperating the art from the artist is impossible. It comes down to whether you actually care if you're supporting these people with your dollar or not.
With video games being big collaborative efforts it's essentially impossible to make sure none of your money is going toward a racist, sexist, homophobe etc. Still I won't lie and say learning about key figures behind the art or seeing these ideas in the art in Persona's case doesn't give me pause. I don't really feel comfortable supporting the Persona IP anymore until Atlus has it's act together just because it got kind of overt and gross about it in a way I think is disrespectful.
-
-
Yknow the sad but kinda funny thing? The gay character in Persona 4 dancing, as basic and cliche as you could get for a gay stereotype he was, had some actual charm and personality that made him just feel like a guy that happened to be gay and owned that fabulousness with no shame. Still a stereotype, but at least he was fun. The persona 4 subset is weird cause they get so close to having decent lgbt representation, but then shoot themselves in the foot in one way or another
-
It's a different culture. You can't expect everyone to agree with your views anyway.
If the views of the person affect you that much, don't buy their product.
I also live in a culture similar to Japan when it comes to the views of homosexuality so I suppose I might not understand how you feel in this situation so I apologise if my words were too harsh.
-
Japan has a culture, sure. Persona is a product that is now produced and released within a global market.
-
And then you have Kanji Tatsumi, who really muddles up the Persona 4 situation. From my point of view, he’s very much a bisexual. But it’s all in the eye of the beholder, as questions regarding his sexuality is never answered, and left to interpretation.
Also, I wouldn’t say Persona 5 is filled to the brim with sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and all that... After all, you even meet a drag queen/trans woman (never explained, it just is) owning a bar, who is someone that genuinely cares about your safety for hanging around a red light district, as well as playing emotional support to one of your confidants, and her work pays you better than all other jobs (but that’s rather superficial here).
Finishing off that I believe that statement is a lie, that’s as far as I’ll go talking about that. The two gay sexual predators are unfortunate, but their screentime is thankfully under a minute to the total 100 hours of gameplay. But all this to say Hashino still isn’t a good person, I just don’t think the game ended up too affected by his views.
-
@DiamondX Still find it ridiculous that it has to be considered a “view” or “political” topic, the idea of treating people different from you in who they wanna love with respect vs something to be mocked and joked at, but I digress
@Polkadi~♪ Uhhh, it’s more than once the gay sex predators show up. Not to mention, they still are there. Doesn’t matter that it’s brief. It makes it clear what they find acceptable and “funny”.And then there’s the whole controversy of there not still being male x male romance options in a game series that has romance as a selling point. Also Ryuji’s a creep like all the past protag best friend characters from 3+
-
-
You can't force them, but you sure can call them out for being bigoted
-
A game that does the same lame gay predators joke would be bad enough on it's own, but the game also features relationships between adult women and the high school aged protagonist, framed as romantic and desirable and not "creepy." I can't help but wonder why that is.
That along with the fanservice and queer baiting makes a game about outcasts overturing the status quo of society for the sake of the downtrodden come off as...kinda tone-deaf at the best of times.
I was really disappointed with Persona 5's writing on the whole though so my perspective is a bit different. Even looking past these issues I didn't have a lot of fun with the story/characters so it's hard to "turn my brain off" so to speak.
-
Supah Berry reacted to this
-
@DiamondX No you clearly can’t, but it’s still imo a sentiment we as a society can do without. We’re all humans with differences. Do we really need, for example, some people killing gay people in concentration camps because they don’t understand how falling in love works when it’s the same sex? If you don’t like it fine, but just keep it to yourself? I don’t openly hate on someone for liking a food, or movie, etc. I don’t. It’s elementary school level teachings here. I don’t get how society makes this such a “complicated” issue.
-
-
@Wraith Doesn’t help that 3 & 4 also had these problems(the P3 guys making fun of a trans women, Yosuke’s homophobia and teasing Kanji, etc.) , so just further highlights Atlus’s complacencies and what they think people will be fine with.
-
4 doesn't bother me as much as 5. Even if you dont consider the 9 year gap between games Yosuke's behavior isn't treated as acceptable and Chie/other characters reinforce Kanji being fine the way he is.
Yosuke honestly felt like a realistic portrayal of a boy who's insecure about that kind of thing. Doesn't mean you had to like him, but yeah.
-
The problem with 4 for me is they almost immediately ignore the actual discussion at hand after Kanji’s story segment/level, and even go as far to lay on thick the heteronormative side, with him doubling down at times on him not “being like that” and his continued interest on Naoto. Heck, even the later games that include the 4 gang never bring up that part of his character in any meaningful way.
Regarding Yosuke’s constant bad jokes about the whole deal, eh, that’s a fair consideration, but given the history with how the “humor” in the series on these topics is presented, I don’t feel as if the intention was to make Yosuke come off insecure about anything. The previous game had the boys ridicule a trans person, so I doubt, especially given the era 4 was released in, they grew a sudden conscience and wanted to make a statement with the way Yosuke heckled Kanji. I think they just thought it was funny and gave it the thumbs up.

-
What franchises/characters do you think would be better off being taken away from their creators?
-
None. I could probably count more characters that were previously taken away from their OG creators and placed within the hands of a new set of owners who didn't know how to handle the product greatly because they lack the correct mindset of the real original creator. Unless proper successors are carefully chosen, otherwise I feel most characters/series should be left alone to the past instead of being dragged around by new owners most of which likely don't have the best intentions for it.
-
The most obvious answer to me is Ken Penders' cast of characters.
-
-
adding onto what i was saying before. i think it can be quite disturbing when outsiders think they have more of a right to something then the creators themselves do. Never put it pass certain "fans" to feel entitled to other people's stuff.
-
Supah Berry reacted to this
-
There's creators out there that have a good conceptual idea, but does not know how to bring out the potential, either through lack of ability, or skill.
This is exactly why I mentioned Ken Penders as my key example. On a conceptual level, quite a few of his characters are alright. However, Penders does not have even remotely the writing chops to make them work, and will often lead into godawful writing tropes that make characters look atrociously bad.
Under Penders' writing, not only was his cast either unlikable, Mary-Sues, or somewhere in between, but he affected the SEGA cast heavily to push them, even to this day, where he keeps pulling sly references to them to prop his cast up (The most infamous of which being when he claimed that Geoffrey St. John took Sally Acorn's virginity - I.E - an adult sleeping with an underage character).
Fans aren't entitled to a creation, but they are entitled to an opinion in regards to that creation, and it can be often times infuriating to see your favourite creations ruined and destroyed by a writer who doesn't understand the appeal to them - which yes - this can happen to the creator of said characters. Fans are entitled to judge, criticise, and discuss writing and characters, and being the creator of said writing/character doesn't automatically mean it can be shut down with "I made them!!".
Ian Flynn took these characters and made them likeable, gave them flaws, and wasn't afraid to call out their questionable actions. Locke went from a scumbag who never got called out for his shitty actions to a deeply flawed man who gave up his own life to save his son and make up for his past sins, for just one key example.
Hell, in Penders' own "masterpiece" - M25YL - even he destroyed his own characters that he originally created. Julie-Su - as much as a mary-sue as she was - was originally written as a tomboy action girl who didn't take shit from people, a very proactive character.
In M25YL, she underwent serious chickification (as TVTropes would put it) - she began wearing more girly outfits, underwent a redesign to make her more feminine in general, had little to no agency as a character (Letting Knuckles/Lara go at it in arguments while just making a few comments, forgiving a sister who mentally abused her for years - and who didn't show any signs of redemption), and lost all character traits that essentially made her Julie-Su. Of course fans have a right to call this type of shit out, that's essentially killing a character by making them into something totally different.
So yeah, I have no issues whatsoever saying Penders shouldn't have his cast of characters. He can't write them well at all, usually ends up making them look awful as characters, and makes them frustrating to watch.

F Zero. Give it to SEGA since it was one of their (defunt) teams who made the best and last game in the series. If it came to Sonic becoming Nintendo property, they should trade F Zero for him.
All Rare IPs. Less about the series getting taken away by their creators and more about the creators getting out of Microsoft and bringing them back to the rest of the old staff at Playtonic.
I'm giving Namco another chance if the remaster thing comes to be, but till then, Klonoa.
-
@Ryannumber1gamer Other higher skilled creators who can make better use of other folks stuff isn't justification for thinking stuff should be stolen away and be given to somebody else just because fans like them more. It is a different story when a franchise was made for a company, because those are group effort projects to start with and not really owned by any single person. I may not think folk like Ken Penders is a good creator either, but i wouldn't support having his ideas getting took away. however his stuff is heavily based on other people stuff AKA Sonic so how much he owns his ideas is fairly gray and could be up for debate.
But point is as a creator myself I try to see this from a creator's point of view, and when i imagine the mere idea of somebody suggesting higher skilled creators should be given my characters... oh THAT makes my blood boil.

I feel like Astro Boy improved outside of Tezuka's penmanship. I dislike the original manga. Though obviously that actually happened so I have retrospect.
I feel weird about wishing anything be displaced from it's current writers. I find that incredibly hard to judge. They could probably retool their own work and are more likely to do so while remaining "faithful".

A mild mannered doctor creates a young robot as his new son but sadly couldn't obey so he set him out to be adopted by a better family.
Unfortunetly, a bunch of sick anthros physically abuse the robot and train him to fight and kill opponents eventually turning on its creator.

Noticing Sonic's rejection of Amy, the doctor feels bad for her and builds a robot that looks just like Sonic, BUT, will give her the time of day, his first action even being hugging her.
Sonic destroys the robot, kidnaps Amy and kicks Eggman's ass for all his troubles.

I don't really know how to help out with this kind of stuff, but if it was painful you guys I'm sure the survivors would have told about the experience from their first-hand experience. From what it sounds like it's just... a state of being.
If it's about the implications, though, I dunno how to help out there...
-
what does that even mean? if you're conscious, that sounds like you're still dying, not dead. what's "dead" even mean if you can be conscious during it?
-
AWild No.1 washed up gamer reacted to this
-
@Diogenes: Clinical Death is when the heart stops beating and your body stops breathing. The actual death of the brain happens 20 to 30 seconds afterwards.
The article is about consciousness remaining and remembering events around it up to 3 minutes after death, according to the tests and studies, with no signs of traceable brain activity for the entire duration. So technically, they are as "dead" as we can define it so far. Just because consciousness remains doesn't mean that definition is bucked, really...

Is 6am seriously considered a standard waking up time by most people in the US?
What the hell is wrong with you people?

Well I normally wake up at around 10am, and sometimes up to 12pm if I oversleep. Then again, I'm no working man.

6am is a perfectly reasonable time to get up. Assuming your work/school day starts at 8 or 9am, getting up at 6am gives you ample time to do things before you go out.

You American's may be jealous of the UK Cartoon Network and its more diverse schedules, but you still have the superior Boomerang...
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
If you looked at our Boomerang without any prior context as to what the channel is or was in other parts of the world, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was just another kids channel with no connection whatsoever to CN.
Also our Boomerang doesn't even have Boom anymore. It made its UK debut on the channel, aired on it for a few months and then disappeared completely, all before your Boom airings moved to the channel at all.
As of now, Boom doesn't air on UK TV at all.
-

We did have the entire series air I think. I remember recording them on Sky as they came out.
Hasn't aired here yet, but it did take til June for Season 1 to air.
-
-
-
-
A loooooooong time ago, UK Boomerang was a good companion to Cartoon Network as in that it played the older cartoons (usually from the HB library) while CN played the newer Cartoon Cartoons. It even had Danger Mouse. Now its the same stuff on a loop [some Mr Bean cartoon even though they did put the live action version, Tom & Jerry, Scooby Doo, some secondary cartoons] and no way of knowing what episode you are watched on the rare time they put something new, not as extreme as Teen Titans Go on a loop though. Similar thing to Cartoon Network actually and why I haven't watched them for years (excluding the brief time regarding Wabbit). Oh and their on demand service is very half hearted (when Sky had their free box sets offer, they only had the 1st 20 episodes of Batman: Brave and the Bold and a very few shows).
It also has some poor marketing for shows that aren't Adventure Time or Regular Show. Like I watched the first 20 episodes of Wabbit and enjoyed but then it repeated the series on a loop and logically stopped watching, didn't know a Season 2 came out since I thought they only aired the first 20 instead of 52 of the first season and whatsever for Season 2. I didn't know Boom and Justice League Action aired on those channels, especially the latter as I would have watched it.

What subjects would Sonic characters teach if they were school teachers?

Knuckles has to be the Gym teacher. Tails could be engineering or wood work, maybe just regular science. Dr. Eggman has to teach world domination.

I seriously doubt any of these characters would be asked to be teachers. It’s all hypothetical based on skills and personality. I think that’s the only relevance I think that matters here.
That said and unrealism aside, I’m going to have some fun with this. Almost all that I thought about has been brought up. If I was to add something I could see Cream and Amy being art teachers or even guidance counselors.
I could see Sonic being a gym teacher too and definitely being both the gymnastics and track coach ?

Sonic wouldn't be a teacher and if he was, he'll be that cool geography teacher who goes on field trips. Since Sonic is an environmentalist, at least in his early days and travels the world. Tails would be a science and a IT teacher with Eggman being the other science teacher and is the strict one. Amy is easily fashion. Oddly I see Knuckles being more of a gardener rather than a gym/PE teacher (unless it is Boom Knuckles). Sure he's strong but he also does digging and a lot of looking after things. Vector is a music teacher but more of a college/university type rather than the traditional one. Shadow and Infinite are drama teachers.
Silver would be a physics teacher considering his ability but for some reason he doesn't fit in despite his knowledge.

To be fair, there isn't really a way to make it sound good. Although I suppose in America, it will sound sillier - like "Doopidder" - than the way we would pronounce it ("Joopidder").

@Ernest-Panda A remaster that not only added the remaining bells and whistles that didn't make it in but also added some other necessary tweaks here and there would likely make an awesome game (eg. fix the physics, reanimate the cutscenes with the less narmy Japanese script, add the unused levels and use them to balance out the campaign modes).
Of course SEGA doesn't seem to be other groups correcting, er, tampering with their old games too much.

Massive open world game. Perfect direction and agency for the player to the point players can't feel a difference between it and a linear Sonic game. Engaging and flowing level design. Emergent gameplay ala classic Sonic physics and mechanics. Dozens of zones squeezed together side-by-side to form the world. Beautiful art style. Insane speeds to reach. Hidden secrets on the side to discover.
Oh, "probably". My bad. Mark that down as a definitely.

You know what, this is a genuine curiosity I now have: why didn't Archie put the amount of effort they're currently putting into Riverdale into other TV shows they've had over the years?
Ever since the Sonic comics began we've had the "Return to Riverdale" and Sabrina TV movies, the Sabrina sitcom, Archie's Weird Mysteries, Sabrina the Animated Series, Sabrina's Secret Life and Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch.
Why did none of them get this much attention?
-
-
*Sabrina the sitcom didn't get that much attention*
you're kidding me right
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-

Funny story: my mum was familiar with the Sugar Sugar video from when she was growing up, and yet when I started watching Archie's Weird Mysteries she didn't recognise the characters. A little while later she was watching a show about old music where they played a part of the video, and that was when it finally occurred to her who the characters were.
-
Probably because CW is comic show central and they tend to promote all their franchises. Also the other Archie shows were likely less accessible to different audiences, while this may seem more mainstream and inclusive to multiple groups
@Kintor Making progressive and inclusive stories is foolish?
-
@KHCast What!? Where did you get that from?
I'm saying that Archie is foolish for risking everything on the gamble that they can update Archie for modern audiences. As an IP Archie has always existed in this weird limbo 40s/50s universe, like that movie Pleasantville except without the pointed social commentary. Changing that formula alienates diehard Archie fans and may catch-on with new audiences.
-
-
@KHCast What are you assuming the worst for? Archie's "modernization" has to do with a lot more than simply their efforts to be inclusive.
-
It's like FFXV going action RPG, yeah it upsets die hands, but it still retained some fans and gained a sizable new group of people since it was more accessible
Modernization usually is done to grab outside core fanbases, and appeal to social changes within media. Being inclusive while not the only factor, is a factor in many instances.
Clearly they felt something in the past efforts wasn't hitting a chord with outside audiences, so they're trying something new, which personally I don't see problematic(tho I don't read the comics)
-
Riverdale might pay off though. I've gotten a few people at my work interested in it. Everyone I've told about who have watched it, have really enjoyed each episode.
But man, as like 1 of the 15 (exaggerated [maybe]) UK hardcore Archie fans, I look like a right loony trying to explain the connections between Archie, Josie and the Pussycats and Sabrina

I really do resent how hellbent Sega are on burying every past iteration of Sonic.
What the hell would be so bad about ever using characters and concepts from SatAM, Sonic X, or Sonic Boom again?
-
Gotta throw everything out with the kitchen sink don'tcha know
Sega's troubleshooting is surface level at best. People don't like the horribly coded amigo sections of 06? Just don't use those characters at all again. People don't like RoL? Purge the entire thing. Even the show and characters that were good like Sticks.
The only instance of them actually moving forward somewhat correctly was with Colors from Unleashed and even then, to say they still took wider swings then they should've would be a huge understatement.
