  1. “What sort of crossovers do you think IDW would have done if they had it earlier?” *weeps for that Doctor Who crossover that could have happened* Anyway, assuming Sega even made a second attempt in this supposed alternate reality where the Archie series collapsed in its earlier days, I feel they likely would have looked for another smaller company to do it.
  2. Oh, of course! It’s Kenders “best-seller” after all. All one issues of it.
  3. I like how Dreamworks Animation have recently been following the Disney trend of numbering their animated films with their DVD releases.

The only downside to that plan is being reminded that freaking ANTZ is basically their Snow White.

  4. EDIT: turns out I was misinformed on something. Original post in spoiler.
  5. Chris Pratt is still a prick but God damn is he good at playing loveable characters.

      Why’s he a prick?

  7. I wonder what specific standards a Fox show has to adhere to so they can be streamed on Disney+?

The Simpsons is getting full streaming there, even though it really only barely falls under the “family-friendly” scope. Going by that as an example, I don’t see what’s stopping them from streaming stuff like Bob’s Burgers or Futurama.

Well Futurama isn't owned by Fox any more right? Thought it was Comedy Central now.

Also, is the Michael Jackson episode of the Simpons on there? I did like 'Stark Raving Dad' back then.

That's just the network rights to show the...well, show.

      It's still made from Fox.

@The Tenth Doctor Stark Raving Dad is unfortunately banned from everything ever

Bob's Burgers and Futurama I figure they could get away with. But maybe Futurama's TV-14 rating is just too far above their family friendly PG-13 threshold

I am kind of curious to find out if the UK version will still be streaming those few episodes that British broadcasters consider “too hot for (pre-watershed) TV”.

  8. That’s the difference between Gemerl and Omega, though. If Omega was any other Eggman robot, like Gemerl, he would’ve actively sought out Eggman upon his reactivation, because most robots would act on programming alone. Omega, being a unique case, actively went against his programming to rebel. That sounds a lot like he had a choice to me. And even if rejoining Eggman was firmly out of the question, he still chose to fight on the side of good rather than, say, becoming a solo baddie (which could easily have been a possibility since I’m sure he’d still have at least some of that “kill Sonic” instinct in there).

Yet they make a witch the main villian.

Practically not appropriate in any era.

I think its dumb how they say they are aiming for realism, which is why they have cut Mushu. Immediatly after telling us this they show us that they have introduced a witch character who can turn into a phoenix or something.

      Ew, a BBC article. I ain't touching that. :P

Thankfully, based on the replies, I know what this is about. It sounds like this live action Mulan is being made specifically to cater to the Chinese audience. Hence all the changes that seem to be pushing away fans of the original. The original that China didn't really like so much.

In the end, this movie might not be seen by anyone. The Corona Virus has pretty much screwed over Disney.

Please stay healthy out there, friends.

  9. Are they actually stage plays, or just events at which people in official mascot costumes are present?
  10. I’m confused. The Udon SF comic was running around the same time the crossover was happening wasn’t it?
  11. It’s not. IDW does it too. I still have full access to some of their Doctor Who comics via the same actions.
  12. Not only do I still have access to all the issues I bought, but I can even still buy issues I don’t have through an incredibly simple series of actions, provided they’re from the same individual series.
  13. The fact these same voice clips were used for a talking plush that was released as far back as 2005 (I know because I’ve owned it since then) should be enough to tell you that is Jason in both clips. EDIT: in fact I can now tell you exactly which Sonic X episode the “last chance” line is from; episode 50.
  14. Prototype cover art for the canned Knuckles #33. It’s been floating around online for years now, but I just felt like bringing it up again. It clues us in on how the Sonic Adventure arc was originally going to be distributed (four Sonic issues, two Knuckles’, and a Super Special). I get the impression Big’s introductory backup story was originally going to be in here too (made even more evident by how Penders wrote said story). The cover was, of course, reworked to become the cover of Sonic #80.
  15. Remember when Archie got so paranoid over Penders kicking off again that they gave him top billing on this graphic novel in which his only contribution was the lettering of a single backup story?

    1. Ryannumber1gamer

This wasn't the only book, there was a ton he didn't work on at all that he got top billing on.

  16. Random thought:

Just like the games, Archie Sonic could also be seen as being split into three different eras; Classic (StH#1-#159), Pre-SGW Flynn (StH#160-#247), and Post-SGW Flynn (StH#252-#290).

    The graphic novel releases even kind of unintentionally enforced this idea;

    1. Soniman

Personally I see the classic era as 1-50, everything after that but before Flynn as the Dark Age where all the memes and bad word of mouth for the comic mainly comes from (not everything was bad but it had the highest concentration of crap). The Flynn Era, and finally the SGW Era

  17. “Why does Ken Penders write all of our dialogue like this, Sonic the Hedgehog?”

“Now that’s not very fair, Princess Sally! You know as well as I do that Karl Bollars also writes our dialogue in a similar vein!”

“But only Penders likes to finish most of our sentences with exclamation points! He’s also prolific when it comes to putting emphasis on random words!”

“That is true, Miles “Tails” Prower!”

I was always amused how, as his run went on, Penders would gradually use more! and more!! exclamation points!!!!!!!

Don't forget his habit of always saying the names of franchises like SONIC in all caps.

      PC the Hedgehog

@Ryannumber1gamer To be fair, that was something the comic did from the very first issue. I wouldn't say that's something Ken could be blamed for.

    6. Monkey Destruction Switch

      Monkey Destruction Switch

@PC the Hedgehog Yes, and in that context it's fine, but Ken does it in other contexts such as tweets. It always looks ridiculous to me.

      PC the Hedgehog

@Monkey Destruction Switch Oh, really? Never noticed. Yeah, that's weird.

  18. She was friends with Sally in pre-SGW Archie Sonic too. They even explained in one issue why Amy was okay with Sonic dating Sally:
  19. I did rather appreciate this one back when I first read. When I starting picking up back issues, I was relying on those old “collectors sets” that Archie used to sell, which meant I could only go so far back (as far back as issue 30, to be precise). To make matters worse, being in the UK meant I couldn’t order any of the one-shot specials, since they could only be obtained via the in-book order forms that only served America and Canada, and not the online shop, making for a lot of story gaps. For me, this story helped to not only fill me in on those earlier stories, but also filled in the gaps caused by the lack of one-shots.
  20. Yes. But if the Kickstarter went ahead, it probably wouldn’t have been at the cost of Sonic Boom and Mega Man. This explains it better.
  21. Back when Archie were beginning their “New Riverdale” line, they set up a kickstarter campaign to help fund it. It lasted for a whole five seconds before comic book retailers lost their shit, leading Archie to cancel it.
  22. I guess...it would help to differentiate it from potential Fleetway reprints...?
  23. MSBE’s English dub is pretty alright. A few questionable voice directions here and there, and I still hate Misty’s new voice, but still an admirable effort.
