  1. Movie Sonic canonically has toes btw

    1. Diogenes
    2. Mil-O-Lantern

haven't seen the movie, so correct me if i'm wrong

i don't think sonic's bare feet are shown in the movie (i think heese half-jokingly admitted this on retro when asked about it), but there are scenes in the trailer where you see sonic's footprints in the ground, which show both the prints of his shoes and his feet

Robotnik examines Sonic’s shoeprints with his computer and they’re able to simulate what Sonic’s footprint looks like on the inside, where we clearly see a full set of toes on the screen.

The closest we get to seeing his bare feet is halfway through where his shoes are taken off and we see holes in socks, that show that he has peach coloured soles.

  2. I keep hearing accounts of people who go to see a movie and being among an audience that audibly reacted or “went wild” over particular scenes, and... I have literally *never* seen/heard audience members do this in my experience.

The most I’ve ever heard from fellow cinema-goers is quiet talking or odd moments of canned laughter when something funny happens.

I’d honestly always assumed it was just a thing that only American film audiences did or something but, no, apparently British audiences acted accordingly when watching the Sonic movie (except for mine).

The only time I’ve seen British moviegoers do something unusual in response to a film was back when I saw the second Harry Potter movie, where the audience randomly clapped when the credits began rolling.

    2. Jack out of the comics!

      Jack out of the comics!

They did in my cinema… and it wasn't the first day in Italy, AND my country really doesn't care about Sonic generally. During the last scene they literally screamed.

People went nuts at my Endgame screening

    4. PaddyFancy

Only when I saw The Simpsons Movie did people go nuts. The two times I saw Endgame was rather reserved, except the second time when one person was shouting quotes out before it was said in the movie, and it was really annoying.

My Sonic movie experience was pretty much silent aside from the occasional laughter.

Didn't help that there were probably only 15 or so there in the theater.

    6. Emperor Spooky

      Emperor Spooky

In my experience, the biggest reactions in theaters were when i saw them during opening weekends.

  3. I’ve heard multiple accounts of audience members behaving like this during film screenings and I always assumed it was just an American thing until this post, because I have NEVER been in a cinema audience like that.
  4. Professor Oak and Mew are now available in-game. They literally just give it to you when you open the game.
  5. Does anybody know if any other UK cinema chains besides Cineworld are doing promotions for the movie?

    1. Stasis

I asked Odeon before release but they had no information at the time. Went there today, just a kids cardboard snack holder/door hanger thing. I got one, it's nice but nothing like the Jumanji cards or Sonic poster at Cineworld.

    2. FaultyWindmill

Just back from Cineworld. What promotions are they doing?

  6. Sonic movie was fun! Would recommend.

  7. So first off, I liked the movie, it was fun. Second, here are all the references/easter eggs I noticed:
  8. It really felt like the writers were simply trying to interpret what was being shown in the games, without being briefed on the context. It’s the only viable reason I can think of for why oddities like there being infinite Chaos Emeralds, or the games zones being interpreted as literal pocket dimensions were a thing. I don’t know how they could’ve got so much wrong, or why Sega didn’t direct them. It’s especially weird considering Fleetway Sonic had no problem getting it right. Hell, maybe the Archie writers outright ignored Sega’s directions on the lore altogether.
  9. I’m just noticing that the render used on a bunch of the official merch still has Sonic wear his old pre-redesign shoes So, what, was there a period toward the end of the new design’s life where they were going to keep the shoes?
  10. So do all of the toys for the movie still use the old design? ‘cos it sure looks like it.

    1. Celestia

I think I've only seen one (maybe two) pieces of merch so far that were changed.

  11. So we got Cristina Vee as Sally for a hypothetical SatAM reboot: who should play the other FF?

    1. Zaysho

This is actually pretty tough since I'm not super familiar with a lot of current anime/game voice actors. I think Ben Diskin might have the comedic chops for Antoine, though I don't know how well he can do the French accent.

I used to imagine Laura Bailey's voice when reading Nicole in the comics, so probably someone in a similar range to her like Erika Harlacher?

I seriously thought this was real at first.

  13. Idea for a Pokemon concept:

One that has differing appearances and typings based on what other Pokemon species it’s bred with. There’s also a rare “pure breed” variant.

  14. Remember when 4kids and/or Miramax commissioned new scenes to be animated for the fourth Pokemon movie because they really, really, really wanted to drive home an insignificant story detail?

    1. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

No. Would you mind giving some specifics because not everyone here is a Pokémon anime expert?

    2. Big Panda

      Big Panda

Sorry, I assumed it was common knowledge.

The dub of the fourth movie went and got a bunch of new scenes animated for it because they desperately wanted the audience to know that Professor Oak and Sammy were the same person. Originally the only hint was in the credits when Tracey finds Sammy’s old sketchbook among Oak’s belongings.

There was also an extra Team Rocket scene. For some reason.

    3. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

That's really daft. Didn't that sketchbook eventually show up in the Let's Go games as an Easter Egg?

    4. Big Panda

      Big Panda

Oh? I don’t recall seeing that.

  15. Think this is the first time I’ve ever heard Sarah talk about Veronica Taylor.

  16. Yeah...I was expecting a big influx of game locations being confirmed. Not two comic-original places with non-descript names.
  17. Ooh. ...care to spoil them for us?
  18. The UK Dragon Ball theme tune was my jam tbh

    1. FReaK

      nothing beats the german version

  19. Big the Cat, of course. I love fat characters, and I have a massive soft spot for the slow or “dimwitted” types. Big is just the sweetest gentle giant who only wants to live his simple life with his best buddy. I find his section of SA1 unironically kind of relaxing to play too, and he has some really nice bits of music associated with him; not just his theme song, but his theme in Emerald Coast. I also want to give a shoutout to his characterisation in the Archie Comics.
  20. There was a Sonic promo thing on ITV just now.

    1. Stasis

Want to see a clean upload

    2. Stasis

Nevermind, found one haha trying to avoid thumbnails

  21. Not sure what this has to do with Archie Sonic specifically, but RIP.
