  1. Reached the end of Bojack. Spoilers:

To be totally, brutally honest, I found the final episode kind of underwhelming. Sure, it had some nice final moments between the characters, but the way it ended on Bojack and Diane staring at the sky for a full minute or so with the song in the background, when the credits started rolling I was like “...oh”.

That being said, the penultimate episode was fantastic.

  2. I miss when Sonic used to come out with at least two or three games a year.

      Gentle Criminal

I would be fine with it if it meant the yearly title alternating between spinoff>olympic crossover>main game meant we were getting games of higher quality.

It still shocks me to this day that Forces had a four year dev cycle with no games inbetween, other than Runners, and still ended up how it was.

    2. E-van

I would rather them just put all their resources into making one huge game that doesn't feel like a budget title every 2-4 years instead but ya know...

    3. Milo

cutting down on multiple games a year was something the series needed given how sales were on the decline and most of the games weren't good

but apparently for sega/sonic team, that translated strictly into delaying forgettable products for extra shoe polish (supposedly, anyway *looks at TSR's online*), giving them less advertising, and otherwise saving the money they used to spend (or re-funneling it to their other series...which isn't actually an inherent bad thing)...

  3. I totally understand people liking/preferring the dub of the Pokemon anime.

What I can’t get my head around is that there are people in that group who actually HATE the Japanese version. Quite obsessively too.

  4. Back in the 90s I was in a very famous TV show...

  5. I’m haven’t even made it to the halfway point of Bojack season 6 and god damn I’m already feeling emotional.

  6. So you know how in Bojack Horseman, Herb got kicked off of Horsin’ Around because he was gay? Was that really an actual thing that could happen in the 90s?

    1. Gentle Criminal

      Gentle Criminal

I think it might have been possible if there was a massive amount of scandal surrounding it, as that's the case that happens to Herb in Bojack, but it's hard to legitimately tell because Bojack as a show plays these elements up to show off how shitty Hollywood and showbusiness is. I'd like to imagine that things weren't as bad as the 90s that this could happen, but I have no idea.

Season 6 reveals another part of the puzzle in that -

You can hear the studio exec that bluffed Bojack into agreeing to fire Herb confirm she is a lesbian herself, as she mentions having a female partner at one point. So on top of everything else, Herb was basically scapegoated for his sexuality by a scumbag studio exec who herself is apart of the LGBT community.

It's also for that reason why Bojack probably could've helped Herb. Not only because he could've just threatened to walk off the show, but the "scandal" surrounding Herb was something so lightweight as simply his sexuality - which given the timeframe it takes for Hollywoo to forget far more serious things (especially all of Bojack's actions by Episode 16), it would've been a matter of time before the "scandal" subsided and everyone simply forgot about it.

While I can't recall an actual case, I don't doubt that it didn't happen. Entertainment is a dirty fucking business.

  7. Did the American version of the Masked Singer also follow this incredibly boring pattern of everyone guessing the mystery singer to be a super-mega-famous celebrity who realistically would be too good for this kind of show in the first place, only for the singers identity to, indeed, be “literally who”?

    1. KoopaKing85

Didn't come across that way to me, then again that's not what I bother noticing in these kinda shows.

I'm more impressed that people are able to go up live on stage and show their inner furry without any trace of judgement. (For being in a fursuit)

    2. Polkadi~☆

You're saying that isn't just the entire show in all regions?

  8. I really do think the “badness” of the character models in the Mewtwo remake are oversold a bit. I’ve seen people complaining about how “nightmarish” certain characters look while using a static image to show what they mean.

I agree that the characters do look strange at first but, as I watched the Japanese movie, I honestly stopped noticing. The human character models are better viewed in motion than they are in still-images.

  9. I’d be surprised if that unused song didn’t at least show up on the OST.

  10. Lego City commercials have become a meme now, apparently.

    1. Celestia

Best meme this year so far.

      Oh, wait.

  11. I’m only now just diving into Bojack season 6 and, before I reach the end, I wanna put out my own little speculation:

I reckon it will end with Bojack’s death. Ever since I started watching the show a couple of years ago, I always believed the most fitting way for the show to eventually conclude was for Bojack to die.

If you’ve watched the finale, don’t tell me if I’m right or wrong.

    1. Shaddy Zaphod

      Shaddy Zaphod

I always thought absolutist "redeemed or dead" predictions were against the show's overall message.

  13. Should I be at all worried about importing stuff from abroad with this virus thing happening?

    1. PaddyFancy

I'd be more worried if it was Ebola to be honest.

    2. KoopaKing85

People are expressing doubt on that, because they claim most viruses don't survive on surfaces for more than a few hours. But we don't know much on this virus to begin with, so anyone's anxiety on importing is understandable.

If it'll really come to hitting the brakes on production there, it'll most likely be China's call to do that themselves, for their own safety more than anywhere else's.

Now, I don’t want to say Sonic is cursed but

    3. Ferno

is big red button still alive or did sonic end them too

    4. Zaysho

Archie lost Sonic because Sega told them to get fucked after Archie got sued over the same shit again, not because of their financial troubles. Hell, they were trying to keep that book alive when they axed the rest of the Action imprint.

    5. Celestia

@Ferno They're still around and making...VR games apparently?!

    6. Big Panda

      Big Panda

@Zaysho I just said they went into money troubles when they had Sonic in their lineup, not that it was the reason they lost it.

    10. Celestia

I'm curious, did it break again when it returned in the 2010s(?)

    11. Ferno

I don't think it did, but when he returned to the parade I think they had Splash Hill Zone from Sonic 4 playing so it was breaking in spirit

  18. How come whenever LEGO picks up the licenses to franchises that I would genuinely, avidly collect LEGO sets of, they only use it for a one-off thing and never touch it again?

    1. Your Vest Friend

      Your Vest Friend

It's usually based on what the licence holder wants. A big chunk of the non Marvel/DC/Star Wars sets are only done through LEGO Ideas, and LEGO Dimensions was a whole different beast.

  19. Is movie!Robotnik still called Robotnik in the Japanese version?

  20. Youtube has made it so COPPA’d videos cannot be added to playlists...

    1. Solister

Still impressed there's no video service up to face YT as a such weak platform. Come on, any video player on web with a few more features is better than YT in every way.

    2. Milo

@Solister The general argument that's usually given is that it would cost way too much infrastructure to get a video-sharing site on the same level of YouTube up and running; and even if someone pulled it off, they would be subject to the same restrictions/subjugations YouTube is already under, COPPA included.

The closest competitors (DailyMotion, Vimeo) dwarf YouTube in size and popularity and usually don't have all of the features YouTube has (i.e. Vimeo having storage limits for free accounts, and only having expanded/unlimited storage with paid accounts). Some aren't even able to last long and get shuttered a few years later (such as Vid.Me); even if they are trying to do a different concept (Vine, although it was technically succeeded by tiktok and the creator of vine has been talking about getting a sequel site up and running).

  22. I am now 99% certain Ash is going to go into episode 12 not knowing who the hell Lance is.

    1. Grim & Gritty CC14

      Grim & Gritty CC14

Probably means we can also pour one out for Lance's brief career as a Pokemon G-Man. (Speaking of, MAN did the supposed government DROP THE BALL and not give a SINGLE damn post-Hoenn. 😆)

  23. I checked the Kingdom Hearts subreddit per reommendation and I now absolutely understand why Disney characters were left out of Data Greeting mode...

  24. Apparently Ash acts as if he’s never met a Dragonite before in the new episode ಠ_ಠ

    1. Teoskaven

Nothing new, he had this behavior since the Black/White seasons if not even earlier.

    2. Ferno

I mean, they can't expect kids to watch 1000 episodes so

    3. Big Panda

      Big Panda

@Ferno what does that have to do with anything?

    4. Ferno

He met Dragonite(s) in the early seasons right? Like around Indigo League/ Orange Islands? That was way back is all I'm saying so it would kinda make sense to reintroduce it as if it were new for new viewers

    5. Big Panda

      Big Panda

@Ferno why though? The younger crowd go into the show knowing full well that Ash has travelled a lot (the second episode of this series makes that apparent enough) making it logical to assume he would’ve seen a Dragonite at least once during that time. And even if it hadn’t, why would a kid even think to question it? Ash has recognised just about every other pre-Gen VIII Pokemon in this series so far with no problems.

The anime writers had absolutely nothing to gain from doing this.

    6. Ferno

      That's fair yeah

    7. Teoskaven

@Ferno Narrative 101: that's what flashbacks are for, it literally could have take the span of 10-20 seconds by having a small clip of an episode where Ash had met a Dragonite and then back to the present with him saying "yeah, i remember seeing them in the past", even without having to be specific about it.

If they wanted to have a case of having each new season being a fresh start they should have done like the games and have different protagonists for each with their own set of supporting characters; making your recurring protagonist dumb and ignoring continuity for the sake of not alienating newcomers (on top of the other problems the show has been suffering for a while now) is a hard thing for me to justify.

    8. Big Panda

      Big Panda

Or they could’ve just removed the implication altogther. The line in question is “Dragonite, huh? I’d like to meet one!”

They could’ve just had him say the first half and leave it there, not explicitely indicating one way or the other if he’s ever seen one before.

The rules of regeneration have been rewritten again as far as I can see.

    2. Joy

Very hype episode but there's definitely a lot of setting up for later here which might affect how people look back on it in retrospect once we have the pay-offs. I did like the initial small scale idea of the Judoon surrounding the flat and the Doctor having to talk with two equally believably innocent people to solve a mystery before the Judoon kills both. Would've been cool to have an entire episode of that.

I'm curious to see where they go with this Ruth-Doctor revelation. I'm personally thinking the alternate-universe Master theory is true and this Doctor is from there as well.

I'd rather she's not retroactively revealed to be pre-Hartnell or anything. They managed the secret incarnation once with John Hurt but I think it's gonna feel really forced if they try it again.

    3. Big Panda

      Big Panda

      I never heard this theory.

    4. Joy

      @Big Panda

From what I understand. The light creatures from Spyfall come from another universe, and because the Master is directly tied with them there's speculation he used them to get to this universe (reasons unknown).
