  1. I respect that people are upset at the Sword/Shield Pokedex thing, but I just can’t get my head around why it’s such a deal-breaker for them.

When I leap into the game, I’ll be too busy trying to figure out what new Pokemon I want on my team than worrying about the old ones that didn’t make the cut, not to mention being too focused on the new locales and features.

But now I’m learning that apparently Pokemon backlogging is apparently the “whole reason” people buy Pokemon games to begin with? (unless I’m somehow misinterpreting your comment, @Tornado)

With all do respect, I just don’t understand that reasoning. It’s so...limiting.

I don't do it either. But people play competitively, spend countless hours raising Pokémon with the perfect stats and moves or simply grow incredibly attached to the Pokémon they have. And that's EXACTLY what the games ask of you. After five Generations of being able to bring all your virtual pets on the journey with you, the decision has now been made that many of them will get left behind.

The news doesn't affect me much. I wish more games took the BW approach and focused more on new Pokémon than old ones. But SwSh are going about it horribly.

They can still have their favourite in reserve for when they can finally be put into action in whatever the next game will be. Isn’t that enough?

      That's not the point though.

i can get people being disappointed, but this was bound to happen eventually, they simply can't keep increasing the number of pokemon without limit, so i don't see much use in faulting the devs on this. what matters more than sw/sh not having every 'mon is how they're going to handle the issue on a longer scale.

I always envisioned there would come a day where the series just wiped itself clean in one big swoop. What’s happening here seems to be just that, only at a gradual pace.

I can't wrap my head around their reasoning for excluding Pokemon with how simple the animations are and how much money the IP rakes in per year. They have the resources, but they're more worried about releasing the game on time than with all the features it should have and I can't get with that.

Wouldn't they have to create 3D models for a lot of them? Wouldn't that get really time consuming and difficult? Though I wouldn't know I played some of the sprite games from those days and never cared to press on.

They're reusing the 3D models they already made.

Ah well if they already have the models I can understand the complaints, but I wouldn't if they did have to create like a thousand updated polished models and stuff...Pokemon Politics aren't my thing XP
