  1. I hate shipping.

So you can’t get that item you bought online. Boo-freaking-hoo.

  2. I’d thought to myself wouldn’t it be cool if individual pokemon species had different animations based on their natures.

And then I thought to myself this is the Pokemon series we’re talking about.

    1. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

Even if we're going to dunk on Pokémon for being the lazy, stale and unambitious series that it is... That's a huge amount of work that I wouldn't expect no matter who the developer was.

    2. Diogenes

      Diogenes

25 natures times 900+ pokemon times however many animations you'd expect to have variants equals a very large number

  3. If the Japanese have such a low opinion on drug use, why do American stoner movies still get released over there...?

    1. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

Perhaps they give it a more explicit rating there due to the presence of drug abuse?

    2. Teoskaven

      Teoskaven

They apply that concept strictly for themselves, not for foreign stuff. Easy.
Similar to how other countries trade with the Dutch despite Amsterdam being the paradise for drug and sex tourism.

    3. Noodle Panda

      Noodle Panda

@Teoskaven affiliating with countries that have opposing drug laws to you is one thing. Bringing in movies from those countries that actively glamorise drug use, potentially encouraging your citizens to seek out those drugs themselves, is another.

    4. Teoskaven

      Teoskaven

That's the same logic news outlets have used for the recent Joker movie. Just because a media is having drug/sex/violence in it (and even more rarely where it's portraid as a positive thing for bad people) doesn't mean it's designed to brainwash the audience. Nothing that a slogan at the beginning or, you know, simple education, can't fix.
Or are we still stuck in the '50s, where we needed Fred Flintstone to convince us to smoke cygarettes and any russian movie was propagating communism in the world?

“That's the same logic news outlets have used for the recent Joker movie.”

I know. And I’m using that logic against them.

I mean, the fact that Japanese celebs who are caught using end up losing their career, wouldn’t one of those reasons be “because they’re bad role models”?

    6. Polkadi~☆

      Polkadi~☆

Not their country, not their business. While Japan may be against it, I’m sure they know that other countries aren’t, and the movies from those countries reflect that.

    7. Noodle Panda

      Noodle Panda

It’s just so odd that they would still knowingly release movies that have recreational drug use as their main focal point.

    8. Polkadi~☆

      Polkadi~☆

European movies are fine with nude bodies, but America gets all upset at that. Nonetheless, the movies still come in. Same principle, things work differently in other countries, but that doesn’t mean it works in yours.

  4. Do you ever find yourself suddenly feeling really nostalgic for a specific part or area of something from your childhood?

A couple of days ago, I suddenly felt like looking for the old Fox Kids UK idents that I first saw back in early 2001. Now, I’ve been looking for old Nick UK stuff from late 2000.

  5. Am I the only one who thinks Sonic Xtreme looked like it would’ve been crap?

    1. Tarnish

      Tarnish

Nope. Had it came out, critics would have had a field day with it. Looked confusing as all hell.

    2. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

No, you're not. Sonic Xtreme was cancelled in 1997, in a world where Super Mario 64, Tomb Raider 1 and Crash Bandicoot already existed. Furthermore, Sonic Adventure 1 was gearing up to release in 1998. Xtreme looked positively dismal compared to other platforming games of its time. It had spent years in development hell too, going through through several completely different iterations. The project was a mess, and no matter which iteration you're taking about it looked pretty bad. The plug was pulled for a reason.

    3. Tornado

      Tornado

It was a dedicated effort to try to make a game that never looked that amazing even before Sega started sabotaging it internally.

    4. Thigolf

      Thigolf

that fish eye lense choice is still super fascinating

  6. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-50461171

Disney+ continuing to lack the ability to catch a freaking break

    1. Thigolf

      Thigolf

I'm almost glad that Disney has 4 months to iron that shit out once we get to the Europe launch.

  7.

    Huh. Wasn’t expecting that.

    1. AdventChild

      AdventChild

Huh. Wasn't expecting anyone to care.

  8. Seeing Japan’s zero-tolerance policy on drug use, and their treatment of celebrities who are caught using them, makes me wonder how they view western celebrities who have or continue to very openly use them?

Do they see highly loved American artists who have had troubles with drug addiction like Whitney Houston as lesser people? Are Seth Rogen movies released over there? Do any celebrities who are pro-weed get any exposure there?

    1. The Tenth Doctor

      The Tenth Doctor

Well they seem to like Iron Man, which shows they don't mind Robert Downey Jr (former drug user).

    2. Noodle Panda

      Noodle Panda

      That’s confusing.

    3. QuantumEdge

      QuantumEdge

Are they cool with him because he's no longer a drug user?

  9. The first episode of the new Pokemon series marked the first time Ash had been voiced in Japanese by someone other than Rica Matsumoto.*

*not counting the times where he was possessed

    1. Zaysho

      Zaysho

Huh, haven't watched those yet. Is it a permanent change or was it part of a flashback or something?

    2. Noodle Panda

      Noodle Panda

Flashback. 6-year-old Ash had a different voice.

  10. It’s never occurred to me before that, indeed, I have yet to see anybody do an in-depth comparison of Archie Sonic issue 50 (original vs director’s cut).

  11. And just like that, McDonalds wins this years best Christmas ad.

    1. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

      Fa-La La La Laaaaaaaaa

  12. *John Lewis Christmas ad comes on*

Mum: “Oh, I was beginning to think they wouldn’t be showing this anymore”.

    Me: “Why?”

Mum: “Because of the upset it’s caused”.

    Me: “Oh?”

Mum: “Apparently some boy got upset because he thought the dragon melted Olaf the snowman”.

  13. My mum has been a Johnny Depp fan since seeing him in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

She’d seen him in films before that, but this was apparently the point where she realised how gorgeous he was.

    I don’t get it either.

  14. Is every season of the Simpsons available on Disney+ or just some?

    1. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

All of them, although Stark Raving Dad is missing due to MJ, and Who Shot Mr. Burns Part 1 was supposedly edited to make it look like Burns shoots first.

    2. Noodle Panda

      Noodle Panda

      >Who Shot Mr Burns edit

      ...why?

    3. Jango

      Jango

Wait a second, I think you got the simpsons mixed with star wars there pal

    4. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

No, I'm nearly sure there was a status from someone else here confirming it.

      Ryannumber1gamer

      @Spin Attaxx

No idea. As I said, I just saw it briefly mentioned in another status a few nights ago, so if that's the source, than yeah, it's fake.

So the only episode missing is the MJ episode.

    8. Noodle Panda

      Noodle Panda

It would’ve made the overall implication a lot worse if it was a real edit lmao

  15. Original Beauty and the Beast is on TV right now.

I’d honestly never realised before how rocky the animation is in a few places. Still good, of course, just more flawed than I remember.

Belle looks really odd in a number of frames, and there are an awful lot of scenes where characters who aren’t the most prominent in the shot just kind of...freeze.

    1. Milo

      Milo

Presumably part of the reason for certain parts of the animation conspicuously lacking was b/c Jeffery Katzenberg revoked vacation time for the animators, a fair amount of people (unsurprisingly) quit as a result. (Who can blame them, based on some of the stories reported by the animators who did stay on the job.) Katzenberg did at least make sure not to try this again once he realized how the staff felt about it.

  16. Trailer for new Pixar movie.

  17. I can’t believe, all this time, Sega was holding out on us with the early CNZ, ICZ, and LBZ tracks.

For the love of god, let Taxman/Stealth use them!

    1. Your Vest Friend

      Your Vest Friend

      They won't.

Knowing who's involved, there's probably something in the clauses that means they can't work around that (that wasn't as enforced back in 1996).

    2. Miragnarok

      Miragnarok

Though Mania 2 having them in is a nice compromise idea, right?

  18. I wanna listen to those Sonic 3 beta tracks! Please somebody link me?

  19. Mum and I have been kinda sorta keeping up with Celebrity X Factor (having never watched regular X Factor).

I’m thoroughly convinced by this point that the whole thing is a fucking joke.

  20. Remember X and Y’s sky battles?

What a pointless piece of crap that was.

    1. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

Honestly? No. I had to look them up. Wow...

    2. Miragnarok

      Miragnarok

      Remember the Inverse Battle?

    3. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

Yeah that was actually fun and underused

  21. Shield arrived this morning. They sent me the standard version even though I preordered the steel book -_____-

  22. https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokémon_world_in_relation_to_the_real_world#Galar

Galar’s major towns and cities alongside their real world counterparts (spoilers, obviously).

    1. Noodle Panda

      Noodle Panda

This basically confirms that Galar’s basis is the UK map turned upside down.

    2. Noodle Panda

      Noodle Panda

Anything below the London area can just go fuck itself I guess.

  23. Guess I won’t be getting Shield until tomorrow.

For the best, really. I’m not in a very good frame of mind today.
