  1. I’d have thought Leon would have started going by Squall again in the KH universe by now.

  2. I believe that Gen 8 will be when we finally get the Sinnoh remake. It’s been an appropriate amount of time since ORAS came out, and the series has graphically advanced enough.

  3. I’m honestly not sure which conference was worse, the Indigo league or the Unova league.

For the Indigo league, Ash very unrealistically got himself a victory in a three-on-three round using only one Pokemon that he had literally never used up to that point, and got massively screwed over in the fifth round by ridiculous league rules.

In Unova, he knocked his main, series-long rival out in the first round via a one-on-one battle, and was ultimately knocked out himself by a trainer who is even more incompetent than he is.

  4. It’s funny how the Pokemon games ditched the asshole rival trope after Gen II, but the anime kept on with it up to Gen V.

Barry was a decent rival. Friendly, but there was competition there. May/Brendan never felt like a rival, Cheren and Bianca felt like very forced personalities, Hugh felt needlessly edgy, the XY squad are literally the worst characters ever, Hau is a waste of screentime. I prefer to pretend that Trace doesn't exist...

Friendly rivals are only part of the problem. I prefer that they're antagonistic towards the player, but as long as there's a sense of actual rivalry then I'm happy.

What do people generally think of Paul and Trip? From what I've seen, they're a bit OTT and lacking depth. Antagonistic for the sake of it, with no real connection to the other characters.

What makes Paul interesting is his gradual development throughout the course of the series. He starts off thinking Ash is a weak trainer before eventually starting to see him in a different light due to their shared experiences (their full six-on-six battle at Lake Acuity being a notable turning point).

Trip is just an obnoxious newbie trainer who got deservedly knocked down a peg when he lost to Ash in the first round of the Unova league.

Trip was a wanna-be Paul who felt incredibly un-earned.

  6. While I prefer SA1 in most ways, I do believe SA2 had the better final act.

SA2’s ending still manages to give me chills.

  7. I think the next Pokemon movie has a much better likelihood of being set in-canon this time, now that the new series will be taking us literally everywhere.

Its like "finally I get to see a SM-esque Ash with movie/XY-level shading"

  9. Some release date changes: Tangle & Whisper 4 has been pushed back to 4 December, and Sonic 24 has been pushed back to...Christmas Day. Dunno how that’s gonna work. EDIT: and the Tangle & Whisper box set has vanished.
  10. Oh wow, that’s a lot of promotion. Is every episode gonna get one of these?

  12. I also keep photographs in my fridge.

  13. Sega is never going to do it in a million trillion years but I would throw so much money at an 06 remaster.

Hell, hire the guys doing the P-06 thing. I want to spend money on it.

I'm okay with playing P-06 for free

  14. Princess Son of a Bitch Acorn has a surprisingly nice ring to it.

  15. Art Mawhinney worked as a storyboard artist for Rugrats IIRC. Probably why. FUNNY YOU SHOULD SAY THAT BECAUSE
  16. What is it about Sonic that’s makes him less appealing to Japanese audiences?

Seriously, I’ve never understood this. I know he was created with American audiences in mind, but still. Even times where he’s specifically geared to Japanese audiences (the cutesy classic artwork) he never seems to get as much success over there.

    It’s baffling.

It may be more on the attitude side. Obnoxious, rebelious behavior is often frowned upon there, especally when a "hero" brings those traits to the forefront.

Hence the attempts to dial back the rudeness with the 3D titles; 06 was likely made specifically with the Japanese audience in mind. Yet none of them seem to have stuck regardless.

Maybe Japan just wasn't ready for a Mario like platform that had a heavier tone to it. They might've caught wind on how America marketed him as "Lol, Nintendo sux, gnarly" and that was it.

IMO, the franchise still has a very dedicated fanbase there (I see many japanese Sonic artists and Sega fans on twitter), but isn't very popular with the general audience thanks to two things that happened in the past:

      - In Japan, the Mega Drive was the "underdog", selling much less than the Super Famicom and even NEC's PC-Engine/Turbografx-16. That territory doesn't have a big nostalgia for Sonic like the western countries have.

      - Nintendo and Sony consoles had more impact and influence in Japan than Sega's. Sega's most popular machines there were the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast, but both were engulfed by the Playstation 1 and 2.

    4. PublicEnemy1

@Supah Berry There's also the fact that Japan doesn't really like most platformers anyways.

  17. I had one of those dreams this morning where I realised I was dreaming and tried to wake myself up.

    It was weird.

  18. Happy Birthday mate! Hope it’s a great one ^^

Thanks, Panda! I'm hoping it's fairly quiet myself. 😆

  19. A little something I’ve been working on: The Kanto Region according to the anime
  20. Gym leaders may also be a deciding factor over which version of the Galar games I get...

      Blue Blood

Knowing only about the Fighting and Ghost type gyms, I'm edging towards Shield. Not a big deciding factor for me though.

  21. I think you should be allowed at least one nickname change for traded Pokemon that already has one. For the ones you get that have unflattering nicknames.
  22. Have you ever felt like you needed to get rid of something because you feel it’s “tainted”, but you also really don’t want to because letting go of said thing would be self-destructive?

    1. tailsBOOM!

... I don't comprehend what you mean exactly

That....kinda accurately describes my feelings towards SSMB sometimes.

It feels tainted because it's not as warm of a place that I remember it being years ago and letting go of it feels self-destructive because some of the people here are what I'd consider my closest friends. Leaving them would just result in my own and potentially their own suffering.

      If that makes sense.
