Ah crap, nothing here appeals to me.

There’s not even a Doctor Who one this time.

  2. New dfs ad with Wallace and Gromit!

    1. Ryannumber1gamer

It's interesting to me how Lady Tottington is always used for these ads.

She is? I remember seeing her in one ad back around the time Wererabbit came out, but I don’t recall seeing her in anything else.

    3. Ryannumber1gamer

Idk, I'm nearly sure there's been at least a few others with her.

    4. DanJ86

It's a little bittersweet for me to hear Wallace while knowing that Peter Sallis has passed. But Ben Whitehead sounds so identical to him with his performance that it's a shock to the system. I didn't even notice that Ben took over when Peter retired, his first performance being Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

    5. Ryannumber1gamer

I don't think Ben's first appearance was Curse, Peter played Wallace right up to World of Inventions. Ben mainly played Wallace in stuff like Grand Adventures, and advertisements. He could've voiced him in the Wererabbit tie-in game as well, although I'm not sure if he did or not.

That said, he's a fantastic soundalike for Wallace.

He is. I never even noticed when the switch happened.

  3. David Walliams liked Rowling’s tweet and I want to fucking die.

Watching and enjoying “The Tiger Who Came to Tea” on Christmas Eve is going to be one hell of an exercise.

I think you need to step away from this stuff, you're really stressing yourself out.

True. I’m not even ON Twitter, so I dunno why the fuck I’m so attached to it.

  4. Known about that one since the issue was solicited.
  5. “Mum, by any chance, have you got me any Harry Potter stuff for Christmas?”

*knowingly* “You’ll have to wait and see”

*with a slight air of unenthusiasm* “yaaaaaaay”

(I really, really want to keep enjoying Harry Potter but, I’m just not feeling it right now, and I’m not sure if I ever will)

Honestly, it can be hard, but sometimes you really have to separate a work from it's creator in order to enjoy it. I haven't gone too deep into Harry Potter myself, but from what I've heard the books/movies/etc. really don't reflect Rowling's more, shall we say, "problematic" views.

    3. GentlemanX

My fianceė was super into HP growing up too, but has waned for the same reasons. She still likes the old stuff and the world fine, but has no interest in say new material from Rowling like the Fantastic Beasts series.

    4. Failinhearts

@buranflakes has a strong point. I have learned to do this after the John Lasseter debacle long ago. Pixar and his works continue to inspire me, and his movies continue to be important, impactful and brilliant. He as a person, is not. The same can happen with Harry Potter.

    5. SenEDDtor Missile

      SenEDDtor Missile

@Failinhearts Separating a person from their work is a really odd thing. I think a good part of what makes it easier to do for some compared to others depends on how much you associate that one person with that work, how long ago was the work, and how much the person fucked up.

In the case of Pixar, I tend to not really associate any Pixar work with Lasseter because ultimately it's the work of an entire team of people, so it's easier to disconnect him because he's ultimately only one part of it, not all of it.

But then you have JK Rowling, or even further back, JonTron. They're the sole people who more or less create all of their work with little input from others. This of course means that their work is heavily reflective of their biases and views, even if subconsciously, so it's much hard to disconnect them from their work and thus makes the pain in supporting a work you see as good, but tied to a despicable person who made said work much stronger and more difficult to ignore.

Plus, both Rowling and JonTron's fuckups are pretty fresh and recent, which only further increases the immediate connection.

      Big Panda

@Failinhearts Lasseter is a different case, though.

Lasseter is no longer associated with Disney or Pixar, so he’s not getting our money anymore.

Rowling is still very much the head honcho of HP, and any money given to the franchise would be going to her.

    7. Failinhearts

I suppose that's fair. Just trying to look on the bright side. But yeah, I wouldn't financially support Rowling either.

    8. buranflakes

@SenEDDtor Missile oh Jontron is is a great example, and one I can really relate to because I used to really like his videos. Despite what I said about separating a creator from their works, I’ve actually found it kind of hard to watch his videos since I’ve learned of his “problematic” views.

  6. You wanna know the kicker? That medal is never brought up again. It’s never explained where it came from or how it got there. The only follow up we ever get is in a response to a fan letter issues later, where it’s said to be the work of Robo-Robotnik/Eggman.
  7. I’m glad to see Tracey again. I thought he was taking a break, last I heard?
  8. Who’s got LGBT (especially T) Harry Potter headcanons?

    1. Rabid-Coot

I have no head canons but now you mention it (especially T) there must be something in a setting that has the identity theft potion and you can be an animal for a while abilities.

A compelling argument, but it is worth noting that both Nadia and Atlantis were inspired by the same source material, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea; Nadia even keeps the ship's name the Nautilus. Other differences include the Grandis mentioned is more Jessie from Team Rocket than Helga from Atlantis, and is not the first officer shown in the comparison picture. Nadia and Kida are probably the most similar elements between the two works, especially with the imagery related to the crystal. Still, there's a lot about Nadia's plot and characters that are significantly different from Atlantis, so I don't think this is on the same level as the Lion King/Kimba comparisons.

    2. Big Panda

      Big Panda

The character designs are pretty uncanny though.

The similarities between Vinny and the doctor and their Nadia counterparts is way too coincidental.

  9. Considering Lamar’s last cover also featured appearances from zombots who looked suspiciously similar to old Archie characters, I wouldn’t put it past him.

EDIT: false alarm. It was a misunderstanding.

non-optional always visible likes really are the bane of twitter tbh

So many drowsy nights worried that you'll accidentally "like" something offensive that you don't agree with while scrolling and then your entire online experience is shattered

    3. DanJ86

I read her tweet. I don't get it...

      That is a fucking relief.

    5. DanJ86

2016? I thought her tweet was new. Is that about a different tweet?

      Damn, I'm so confused.

    6. Big Panda

      Big Panda

He’s saying Hamill previously DM’d him back in 2016 (on a completely unrelated matter), and the only reason he was able to get in touch with him again was because the DM thread was still there in his inbox.

  12. I really don’t need this J.K. Rowling bullshit right now.

I really want this to just turn out to be a misunderstanding, but... the fact there have been so many other telltale hints in the past that she has never owned up to...

    1. DanJ86

I don't fully know or understand what's going on. I've only seen bits of random info (And petty insults.) spitted out through Twitter. Those people are always quick to react and I would recommend waiting for more information before getting stressed or depressed about anything.

Even then. Multiple websites have taken to writing pure fiction, masquerading as news so you'd need to check multiple sources before finally coming to a decision on how to react.

    2. Your Vest Friend

      Your Vest Friend

JK Rowling never struck me as being that Liberal so this doesn't surprise me.

And yes, I looked up what JK Rowling said, and it was pretty shitty in context. I mean, her tweet is right there

    3. Big Panda

      Big Panda

@Your Vest Friend I dunno about that. She is mostly left-leaning on a lot of issues (Labour voter, believes in abortion rights, a remainer, etc.)

      She's a spineless centrist Blairite.

      >Corbyn. Is. Not. Dumbledore.

  13. Random take: Snow White is among the Disney movies planned to get a live-action remake.

Honestly, if they absolutely had to remake Snow White, I’d rather they pulled a 22nd Pokemon movie and do it in CGI, and release it for a landmark anniversary year (the 90th or 100th anniversary), the basic idea being “Snow White marked the birth of feature-length animation. Look how far the medium has come all these years later”.

    1. Thigolf

All that would do would make me think "Wow, the water color hand drawn art is still much more beautiful than the run-of-the-mill CGI art I see monthly from every single studio"

    2. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

Weren't there, like, two remakes from the other companes that popped up the at the same time? One of which had a sequel with a Snow Queen crossover???

And while were at it, doesn't Once Upon A Time count as a live action adaptation of Snow White already? Or better yet, all of their cartoons????? The names and designs are taken after the Disney version, y'know...

    3. Big Panda

      Big Panda

@Thigolf they were able to make Tangled look like a 3D oil painting, so I don’t see why they can’t incorporate a watercolour look in CGI.

    4. Thigolf

As someone who's seen oil paintings, Tangled doesn't look like one at all.

For a second there, I thought 1 Republican had the balls to actually be bipartisan for once, but NOPE, that one vote was reversed. Also, which two congresspeople that voted AGAINST impeachment?

    2. Milo

The House can vote to impeach, but it's up to the Senate to vote to actually remove him from office. Republicans hold the majority and so far they've shown zero interest in kicking him out. Unless an absolute miracle happens, they'll likely have more than enough votes to acquit him instead.

That said, being impeached does put a black stain on his presidency at least, and that could play a big role in the 2020 elections for both the presidency and the Senate.

Hopefully Brazil's Bolsonaro will follow Trump's steps since he loves him so much.

  16. It’s kind of amazing how much the Disney company has changed in the last decade.

This time 10 years ago, we were in the death throes of the “Disney Channel era”.

I put on my old Meet the Robinsons DVD a couple of years ago. I watched the “sneak peeks” out of curiosity, and it was like opening up a time capsule, being greeted by an orgy of Camp Rock and High School Musical.

these mfs hadn't even bought marvel yet

      what a time

  17. I watched Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too for the first time in years yesterday. I’d completely forgotten how much this scene hit me. That soundtrack, that animation, and Jim Cummings’ heart-wrenching delivery (“Please come back! I’m supposed to take you to Santa!”) They truly don’t make ‘em like this anymore.

  20. I just watched this episode for the first time. The Marilyn Monroe bit fucking killed me.

Also the very first bit is a direct reference to “Boating School”. Awesome.
