  1. Sonic 2's ending theme is such a beautiful piece of music, possibly one of the best in the franchise. It was a perfectly serviceable melody for a love song, sure, but it's use in Sonic 2 was sublime. It makes you feel hope, desperation, happiness...all kinds of emotion. Man, I'd love to have Masato Nakamura come back to the franchise, even for just one or two new pieces.

Instead Sega brings him back in 06 to produce the single worst vocal song in Sonic game history

That'll be DREAMS COME TRUE, and especially Masato Nakamura, for you.

That 06 remix can really get stuffed, though.

If anyone was/would be seeking for it.

It was more nostalgic than it should be 😌.

I wonder if they just never asked him to return after Sonic 2 or they did but he declined.

@Tarnish I'm not sure if it's official or just a rumor/theory, but on the Sonic 3 days, Nakamura was considered for composing the soundtrack but as Sonic got more popular than he expected, he wanted a better payment. SEGA, disagreeing, disregarded him and went in search for some other, which also explains why Sonic 3 & Knuckles has so many composer as well and most noticeable all the Michael Jackson thing (Specially looking MJ already worked with SEGA for his own Moonwalker game, Sonic was heavily inspired in him, both had a good relation and were popular at the time (All this just a bit before the polemics involving him)).

Later on, I don't know, but I think on the Early 2010's, he was considered, if not hired, for all that 20 years anniversary, as he published all his demos from Sonic 1 & 2, and (I'm not sure if he made something), Sonic 4 and specially Sonic Generations. Prior to that, just the Sonic '06 ending theme involvement.

@Solister Too bad because (controversial opinion), I liked his songs better than the Sonic 3 & Knuckles songs. There are a some songs I like in those too, but overal I prefer Nakamura's compositions.
