And the super peel out running animation needs to be used more in an official capacity. It looks much cooler than Sonic just running with his arms behind his back.

One thing I thought was cool about early 3D Sonic Games like SA1, SA2 and Heroes, was how they tried to blend the ends of cutscenes into game play; either pausing for a second after a hubworld cutscene and you're back in control of the character again, or at the starts of stages and a second later the level starts. These days there's alot of awkward fade outs with Sonic game cutscenes leading to loading screens for the actual stages, etc.

Overall... I do believe this was a good year for Sonic. Forces might have not lived up to many expectations, but I feel everything else more than made up for the game and keeps this year being a good one.
Sonic Mania released to very good reception and got a sweet collector edition released, SEGA partnered with Jones Soda for limited edition Sonic Mania drinks, Sonic Mania music was released on vinyl with Adventure 1 and 2 music being released on vinyl next month to start 2018 off nice. Sonic Forces soundtrack will be released next week on CD in Japan!
We finally got news on Archie Sonic, which was sad, but then we got news of IDW Sonic which will breath new life into Sonic in the comic book world and fan-favorite writer Ian Flynn is back.
The Sonic 25th Anniversary art book was FINALLY released by Cook & Becker and was worth every penny. It was an giant beast of a book filled with a lot of concept art and promotional game images.
Sonic and Tails got themselves very cute Build-A-Bear plushes that are very soft and cute!
Let's not forget that Yuji Uekawa also made two limited edition prints that fans could get should of through Build-A-Bear and the 25th Anniversary art book.
Sonic Boom season 2 kept running and came to a solid end.
And lastly, just overall how SEGA has done, I feel, a great job of still interacting with their fans and trying to have fun with everyone. From the Twitter memes, Twitter ask events with the Sonic voice actors, having fans have a chance at winning the Sonic Mania manuals from various favorite Sonic fan sites (SonicStadium and SEGABits being two of them, and I won one!), and even offering goodies to fans at different events like Mania posters or a Forces poster along with that holographic concept art print.

It's a lot that happened. I think this was a good year for Sonic and I'm definitely looking forward to the future. The biggest thing to happen was Sonic Mania and showing how that has opened the door to SEGA allowing the fans to work on something special is beautiful and may open the doors to more things. Like, Tyson Hesse is no longer the guy that worked on Sonic fan comics. He moved to working on the official comics, and then outright to working on an official Sonic game. Absolutely amazing.
Here's hoping that 2018 will keep things up and Sonic will keep having good futures. ✌

Especially in Team Rose's cutscenes, if you pay attention to Cheese he has this sort of shaking, liquid like wave effect with his whole body.
This establishes more of a connection between the Chao and Chaos because both have liquid like qualities and Heroes drove that point home.
