  1. Alex Jones being banned is wholesome and hilarious

      I disagree, and as much as I dislike Alex Jones I fail to find it hilarious.

      It's nice to see a man who has caused so much harm to people's lives starting to get his comeuppance.

      I guess he lost the info wars.

      Who? And banned from what?

      The other day I actually saw someone driving around with an Info Wars bumper sticker and lost yet more faith in humanity. This has helped me regain it just a little.

      Again, why? Why does a bunch of corporations colluding to simultaneously ban someone on almost every single platform seem like a good thing?

      Is it because you don't like Alex Jones? Because I don't like Alex Jones. And I still find that to be a scary precedent, because who's next after Alex Jones? Is it gun channels? Because Youtube has been making life hell for gun channels for ages now. Is it someone else who has the wrong opinion?

    10. Teoskaven

      ...why would you want to make a gun channel on Youtube in the first place?

      Well... If I had to guess... just a guess.

      It's probably something to do with the fact he uploads videos of himself harassing the parents of children who were murdered in school shootings.

      Why wouldn't you? The whole point of social media platforms like Youtube is to be a place of self express.

      I'm not sure what rock you've been under, but gun channels have been popular on Youtube for almost a decade.

      @Mayor D

      Citation needed please.Because as far as I'm aware, that was Alex Jones' fans. Not Alex Jones himself. And I'm sorry, but Alex Jones is not responsible for what his viewership does.

      And even then, that reason was not what was sited by these companies. The reason why these companies sited to remove Infowars was because of "Hate speech".

      Nevermind that you're still ignoring that all these companies decided to ban his accounts all at once.

      No, i mean, what kind of audience goes on Youtube to watch videos about guns? If you're into that in the first place it's most likely you already know places like /k/ wich are more informative and have better images/videos. It's like if someone wanted to go on Youtube to go search for PG13 sex scenes, i just don't see the point of their existance. And considering the potential for abuse, similar to the cases of people making those horrible Spider-Man Elsa videos, i don't see what the loss would be if they were not present.

      The harassment of people whose kids have been killed isn't hate speech?

      Look mate, I can see where this is going and frankly I've got much better things to do than back this up when a Google search can bring up tons of examples.

      To that I say... so what? It's their platforms they can ban whoever they like if someone breaches their TOS.

      @Teoskaven

      I don't know I think you're kind of underestimating Youtube's value as an information repository. Like if I really want to get into the historical details of firearms that aren't commonly available, channels like Forgotten Weapons and C&Rsenal are really, really hard to beat.

      Boards like /k/ are great and all, but sometimes finding something specific can be a little difficult due to it not being organized all that well. I also disagree that the video or pictures are even all that good, not in my experience anyway.

      Anyway, there are limitations when it comes to Youtube, which is why I still go to specific boards like arfcom or something like that, but I still generally prefer Youtube.

      @Mayor D

      Don't worry, I have exceedingly little interest in arguing with you either. Don't change, Hogfather.

      I find very few people do want to argue with me when I'm right so no loss there.

      Just go ahead and Google Alex Jones and YouTube harassment. Bonus results awarded if you include Sandy hook in that.

      You'll find tons of examples of his harassment.
