  1. Just saw this week's episode. Have to say it's one of my faves so far -- very funny writing! Incidentally, I did notice the CWC resemblance, but I doubt the writers know/care who he is; the more likely scenario is that whoever did the fanbase research came across him (and others) which influenced their description of the underside of the fandom. Hoping for more eps this great!
  2. Given I'm in the PAL region, can anyone explain to me how I own a NTSC-J version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour '11 for 360? I don't even like Golf!

    1. SurrealBrain

      SurrealBrain

Did someone get it for you? Did you buy your 360 used? Let anyone else use it?

  3. Which states surprised you the most?

For me: NV, MI, WI, PA.

      CrownSlayer’s Shadow

Fucking PA. Like I SERIOUSLY did not see that coming. But in hindsight, it makes sense.

    2. Strickerx5

      Strickerx5

By one god damn percent: PA.

Honestly, I blame all the third party voters here...

    3. ImPantsAtThis

      ImPantsAtThis

That's the thing. I thought Trump's message was aimed almost directly for PA, and yet they never broke for him in the polls. I assumed it was unwinnable.

Out of everyone I spoke with about the election, the only one who believed in a red PA was some Portugese guy who did a county-by-county break down of of votes and turnout levels. And even then I didn't believe in it. Real surprise

That was @Conquering Storm's Servant btw

@Strickerx5 I heard some stuff about Harambe siphoning enough HRC votes to give Trump the state. Do you know if that's true?

  4. If you want someone to blame... xpKOUn2.jpg

    (Real tweet I swear.)

  5. There were literally Brexit odds on this before the results started coming in. Weird, huh?

  7. Out of concern, I've notified my MP of the petition (and several aspects against its credibility) in case parliament takes it seriously, and this was a point I brought up. So at least one MP knows this -- then again, they're pretty much a 'who?' in the party, so who knows if it'll have any influence. Edit: Since posting this, the json has updated and there are ~2.4m signatures listed from the UK. So that point is now moot, but you still have the issue of >1000% of Vatican City signing it.
  8. It's 1971, a Swedish man crashes into a tree. What causes the accident? (It's nothing medical, nothing wrong with the car.)

Ooh, I know this one! It's a moose!

  9. You didn't need Generations to prove that: "Games chosen to be Platinum Hits must have been on the market for at least nine months and sold well. Microsoft works closely with its partners to decide which eligible titles should become Platinum Hits." - http://uk.ign.com/articles/2004/06/22/top-10-xbox-platinum-hits
  10. I like him more than most do, but honestly I don't tend to associate voice actors with Classic Sonic -- I think of him more in terms of facial expressions, if that makes any sense.

@TailsTellsTales Yeah, they're a shitty break. That's why I'm not a big fan of my Sets, Sequences and Series module (the one that spawned this beauty of a .tex file).

  12. I'm guessing this is a joke. It is, right? If so, you might want to make it a little more obvious. If not, well...
  13. Eggmanland, Sonic Unleashed (2008): (spoilered for size) This is what Eggman was making during the game. Looks pretty metal and belonging to him in my eyes. Also, keep in mind this is from Unleashed, the game where Eggman split the earth into fragments (that fits F everything, doesn't it?) and released an evil god (not careful or conscious, really) from its core to terrorise the planet. I don't think the distinction that you think is there is there. The only thing that's changed is that he has a voice as Eggman.
  14. What worries me is the potential for current events to colour the debate around the issue. A decision on the EU is about immigration, true, but more important aspects of the topic are how the decision will affect the UK's relationship with international businesses in London and our trade with EU member states, as well as diminishing/maintaining our usefulness in the eyes of the US (along with other issues, like autonomy from the European Courts and such). Unfortunately, I have a feeling that the refugee crisis will do nothing but shore up the anti-immigration crowd to blame everything on the EU "forcing us to take in refugees who are living off benefits over here"*, blinding people to the more significant impacts the vote will have. *That's obviously not a real quote, but I guarantee someone will try to spin the whole thing that way.
  15. Just in case you didn't know, a bunch of SEGA games are free on Steam until the 20th, including Jet Set Radio and Golden Axe. More may be released free too. Find out more here:

      ImPantsAtThis

For me, it'd have to be Chris Roberts' Freelancer (PC). It's a great little space combat sim-thing.

@Mikyeong Just googled it -- looks interesting. You had it since release, or did you discover it later on?

      Sonic the Hedgehog.

      Probably.

    5. Metal the Mario

      Metal the Mario

I wanna say Graffiti Kingdom on PS2. That's probably the most obscure one I can think of.

    6. Semi-colon e

      Semi-colon e

Within A Deep Forest, an obscure indie game from 2005 where you play as a bouncing ball.

    7. WhoWhatMan

I wouldn't say it's my favorite game but I really enjoy Elebits DS

      JezMM

They're very low-tier obscure, but both Glover and Mischief Makers are among my favourite games of all time that are steadily becoming lost relics due to lack of re-releases on any hardware beyond their original time.

    15. Folded King CC14

      Folded King CC14

Nicktoons Unite for the Gamecube. Basically X-Men Legends with Spongebob, Timmy Turner, Jimmy Neutron, and Danny Phantom. Had quite a bit of fun multiplayering it up with my sis and cousin.

    16. Dr. Crusher

      Dr. Crusher

The only one that comes to mind is 40 Winks on the PS1.

There's nothing especially unique or super-brilliant-amazing about it, but I have a soft spot for it nonetheless, even when putting the fact of it being a childhood game of mine aside.

Metal arms: glitch in the system.  A fun game with shooting that holds up to this day and a all star voice cast.  Best ten bucks I ever spent.

      Dee Dude

Ape Escape 3. One of my favorite games for my PS2.

  17. Been tooling around with layer masks in GIMP for the last few days, and came up with this:Uivgf7e.jpg

What do you think? Not too spectacular, I know, but I'd say it's pretty good for a beginner.

Thanks, Rosa. It ended up being a simple idea, but it took me a while to think of.

Doesn't look anything like beginners' work...great job! :)

  18. I'd like the games to start getting their own vocal themes again. They really help capture the spirit and tone of the game, and they're generally good music regardless. With a lot of Sonic games, even if you don't like the writing, you can usually listen to the vocal theme and get an idea of what they were going for, and that's something I can appreciate.
  19. Fair enough. Still a pretty hefty sum to lose. As tragic as this is, it's quite fitting for EA's track record.
  20. Is this a typo? I know EA's a corporate giant, but $100,000M = $100B, and I don't think even they have that kind of cash to lose, not even in opportunity costs. Did you mean $100M?
  21. Looks like George Weidman is gearing up for a Sonic video. It'll be interesting to see the conclusions he comes to, that's for sure.

  22. Last week I went back to SA1 to try my hand at the fishing. I am a lot worse at it than I remember. Any tips for reeling in, other than hoping for the best?

    1. TheOcelot

      TheOcelot

When you get hold Froogy you need to press down on the analogue stick to ensure a "hit".

      *hold of

    2. ImPantsAtThis

      ImPantsAtThis

Didn't know that, thanks. That said, hooking the fish/Froggy isn't the hard part for me -- i can't win the tug-of-war tensions balancing when reeling. I'll make really good progress, then have to let go of the button as Froggy swims 15m away.

    3. TheOcelot

      TheOcelot

With the tug of war just don't go too high or too low. Make sure Big is in the open and not at a corner/or area where's difficult get a clear line to catch Frog.

    4. ImPantsAtThis

      ImPantsAtThis

      Noted. Thank ya kindly.

    5. Spееdy

      Spееdy

      Alright, the tips:
There are 2 modes of pulling a fishing rod: slowly and fast. Jump button makes it fast but your break meter will increase quickly then and you may break your fishing rod. Action button makes it slowly with less tension, but there is a possibility that a fish is stronger than this slow pulling. So you should alternate between those 2 mods.

To catch attention of a fish, you should just tap the jump or action button near the fish until it will notice your lure. You can hold down on the analog stick to keep the lure on a certain water level and prevent it from falling down to the bottom.

When a fish is approaching your lure, make sure it catches the lure first and then press left or right on analog stick to make a 100% "hit".

Hope this helps. Keep trying if something went wrong. This gameplay requires a lot of patience.

Thanks for the help, Speedy. The first two I already knew -- I must just not be that good at it.

  23. I was going back through Generations a few days ago, and although a lot of things grated on me more than they used to (Modern Sonic's low-speed handling and Planet Wisp Act 2, among other aspects of the game), that playthrough really reinforced my affinity for Rooftop Run Act 2. From the level design and set-pieces to the music, from the background art to the surprisingly fun challenge missions, everything about it is exactly as good as I remembered. Not all of Generations holds up to my memory, but RR Act 2 certainly still shines through.
