About the sales, what I could find on Comichron was:
Knuckles The Echidna Archives Vol. 1: 1,900 Knuckles The Echidna Archives Vol. 2: 1,800 Knuckles The Echidna Archives Vol. 3: 1,319 Knuckles The Echidna Archives Vol. 4: 1,080 Remembering that the site only tracks direct sales, but I don't think that other kind of sales were that big. There are no way to know the number of digital sales, but the number of ratings on Comixology should be a reasonable indicative of the order of magnitude. The most popular comics usually have hundreds of ratings, and some even go above a thousand. The Knuckles Archives books only have, each one, from 2 to 4 ratings.

So I was browsing ancient sites about Archie Sonic, and I found an interesting excerpt written by Ken Penders. It is from an online editorial for the Archie website. This part has got my attention (source, my emphasis):

I find it to be particularly ironic, especially considering the events that would unfold years later...

I will be up to it once the forum is closed for new posts, so I will be sure of archiving absolutely everything. Then I will upload the archive somewhere and make it browsable.
I already did some backups of the forum, which are on the Death Throes thread. This time the difference is that I will upload it somewhere and make it browsable, instead of you having to manually download it first. I still have to look into how I am going to accomplish this, though.
Anyways, I guess I am going to talk with Ian first to see what he thinks about it.

Bumbleking may not be my 'main' stomping ground, but it's my oldest consistent one, and it's going to be so weird not having a focused Archie Sonic.
Ah well, I know his Twitter, I've got Facebook, I watch the Bumblekast, I can still stay in the know. The only concern is archiving the referential information on there in time.

I used to really like browsing (and even sometimes posting on) that forum long ago. I feel kind of sad that it's going away It was actually my first Sonic forum, heck, my only Sonic forum other than this one.
There's one post from there, by Kureejii Lea on the topic of EndGame, that absolutely must be preserved for all posterity. It's found here.
"Oh sure Drago baby whatever you say, this is all so very reasonable of course I'll do it for you sugarpuff. I'm so honoured that you would trust me with the task of sneaking into the deadly city on my own despite everyone else needing a plane to get there and back and, despite me not being anyone of note or not one of the very skilled and experienced Freedom Fighters, giving me of all people the task of waiting for the evil Snively to go on an urban rappelling adventure so I can send him plummeting ten stories down. That won't kill him though, right? I certainly wouldn't want to kill anyone. I'm too innocent for such a thing. But with Snively lightly crippled, Robotnik won't nearly be as much of a threat to our good people, so this plan is so worth the risk. No, I won't question why you and not higher authorities like Lupe or Sally are the one assigning this task. Of course I won't mention it to anyone! So, what equipment will I be given for this mission? Any of those rocket launchers the Wolf Pack for some reason has? How about some armour or a vehicle of some kind? ...Oh, a knife? Okay, that's fine, I understand times are tough and you can't lend me anything like a flamethrower despite the Wolf Pack packing those as well. Wait, a Sonic suit? You want me to fully dress up as... Sonic? Isn't that a little odd? Oh no, you're totally right, sweetie, it's not. Saying that making myself look like Sonic for a mission into Robotropolis would be like wearing a giant painted target at a firing range is indeed silly, what was I thinking? Sure, I'm consistently portrayed as taller than him but that's no biggie, it's still a plausible plan. Oh, and of course I'll make sure to never look at any living beings while wearing the suit. I won't even look in the mirror to make sure it's on properly. I'll just close my eyes and trust you to make sure it's all good. I mean, if you say that this is how it's got to be, then who am I to question it? You obviously have a very solid, thoroughly-thought-out plan in place here, something silly little me could never hope to understand. I mean, I almost asked what Sonic is supposed to think when everyone starts praising him for his non-fatal and extremely beneficial attack against Snively that he had nothing to do with, but, tee hee, that would be thinking on my part, and I know you don't like it when I do that! I love you sweetums."

Sunwalker reacted to Monkey Destruction Switch in Is there any merit to a "mature" Sonic story?
In theory, I think mature stories can be written about virtually anything if done right. In practice...ehh. I guess I've personally given up on the idea of Sonic telling "mature" stories - in the games, at least. I agree that the comics (as they are now, anyway) have done a pretty good job at being serious when they have to be. I'm not saying I don't want conflict or I only want constant jokes, but when it comes to being serious, mature, deep, etc...well, I just plain don't believe in the Sonic series' ability to tell such stories, considering how problematic-at-best and embarrassing-at-worst their past attempts have been.
If it were able to tell stories like that while feeling faithful to its own basic premise, I think it could work. Maybe that's why Sonic Adventure's story felt so good to me. A lot of the game felt so consistent with what had come before - a mystical monster connected with the mystical emeralds present from the very first game, all the characters, themes, and settings being pretty faithful to what they'd always done, even if they "took it up a notch" in some ways, etc. While I certainly don't hate Sonic Adventure 2's story, it definitely doesn't resonate with me in the same way.
If you can tell a mature story that doesn't conflict with the basic ideas and feel of Sonic, fantastic. Go for it. Personally, I honestly don't trust Sega or Sonic Team to do that.

According to some e-mails I had with Ken, he was approached by Bioware during the development of Chronicles, in 2006 in fact. They wanted him to be a consult or something, it didn't happen and he lost track of that.
I won't quote the whole explanation for obvious reasons, but there might be some truth in what he says... or not.

Sunwalker reacted to Ryannumber1gamer in The Curious Case of the Archie Graphic Novel and Reprint Delays and other GN Hyjinks (Sonic/Mega Man GN and Reprint Release Guide inside)
Alright, before anyone jumps on my back and starts asking why this isn't in the Archie Sonic thread, I honestly felt it's enough to warrant it's own thread, especially since it's effecting both Sonic and Mega Man at this point, so in general, I feel this thread is good to discuss those GN delays, as well as hopefully provide a guide on which GNs are still to come, and which series aren't.
    So first off, a guide.
SONIC/MEGA MAN GRAPHIC NOVEL RELEASE GUIDE
    Sonic Archives: Status: Hiatus/Cancelled(?)

    Sonic Legacy: Current Status: Hiatus/Cancelled

Sonic Universe Graphic Novels: Status: Hiatus/Cancelled(?)

Sonic Universe Sagas (Post Worlds Collide Stories): Status: Upcoming

    Sonic Genesis: Status (Complete)

    Sonic Select: Status: Hiatus/Cancelled

    Sonic Saga Series: Status: Cancelled(?)

Sonic the Hedgehog Post 252 GNs: Status: Ongoing

Best of Sonic the Hedgehog: Status: Cancelled

    Sonic Boom GNs: Status: Complete

    Knuckles Archives: Status: Cancelled

    Sonic Super Digest: Uncertain

Sonic Super Special Magazine: Status: Ongoing

    Sonic Comic Spectacular: Status: Ongoing

Sonic/Mega Man Worlds Collide: Status: Complete

Sonic/Mega Man: Worlds Unite: Status: Upcoming/Ongoing

    Mega Man: Status: Hiatus/Cancelled(?)/Short Demand

So ultimately, why do I believe this warrants a thread of it's own? Well, quite honestly, my above guide should be easily able to explain that. Look at the amount of delays and cancellations that's been going on with the GNs for the past year. Not only does it affect Sonic, but it also affects Mega Man as well. There hasn't been a GN release in at least 6 months, and there's got to be something wrong at this point to justify the constant delays for all of these GNs. It also doesn't help that Archie recently decreased the quality of Graphic Novels, and the paper is now much lower quality.
Many speculate that it's due to the infamous Archie Kickstarter disaster from a few months ago, which has also lead to the cancellation of Sonic Boom, and the hiatus of Mega Man. If that is indeed the reason for so many delays, and a good three or four cancelled Graphic Novel series, then I think it's time Archie got their fucking minds together, considering that every issue of Sonic and Mega Man is still getting variant covers every issue, and the first issue of the Archie reboot got well over 20 variant covers, so if they have the money for so many different variant covers, exactly why the fuck are we still waiting on so many graphic novels?

Changing art styles and character designs from one page to another...yeah, I'm sure that's not confusing at all.
