  1. Spiderman Arkham Asylum is looking pretty good.

It's feeling my need of a super hero game since Rocksteady is, again, no where to be seen.

The webslinging looks like a combination of the grappling hook, superjumping out of the Batmobile in Arkham Knight, and gliding right after. All at once.

Jokes aside I think this kind of combat fits someone like Spidey more than Batman anyway.

Arkham combat is kinda badass but I remember Bats practically teleporting across a room to hit the next guy sometimes, lol.

It actually looks a whole lot better. No joke I was honestly pretty meh on this game when I heard it was going to have arkham style combat since, while I like it, it isn't the one thing I wanted for a spider man game. But this actually looks pretty good and now i'm excited for it to come out.

i've read comments at era on people trashing the combat for taking cues from the arkham games. which confuses the hell out of me because IIRC the arkham games are widely well-received (even taking into consideration people's criticisms about origins and knight, people still praise asylum and city) and AFAIK it's not like there are a bunch of (good) arkham clones out there anyways

@Space☆YeowI can't speak for them but for me its mostly just because it felt limiting to what a good combat system would be for spiderman. Like, even though I like arkham combat, its really shallow and lacks a lot of depth compared to more fleshed out combat systems and it feels like missed potential when a game decides to go that route instead of something more interesting.

Of course, looking at it now. It actually looks to be pretty legit and offering its own spin on the formula that make it stand out so i'm interested in it now, but I can see where those guys are coming from especially if they've played the better action brawlers in the genre.

It's also worth noting that the last few Spidey games were already clearly taking notes (to put it nicely) from Arkham, so I think it might not have been so much "wow I can't believe they're doing this" and more "wow they're still doing this."

This time it looks like they're differentiating it a lot more though, so...yeah.

@MegasonicZX What other acclaimed action brawlers are out there aside from the Arkham games? Genuine question. Admittedly I'm not too familiar with the genre but but nothing is really coming to mind outside of maybe games in PlatinumGames' wheelhouse (Bayonetta, Nier Automata, and maybe technically DMC).

@Space☆Yeow Platinum's games like you said as well as their older games that are more obscure like god hand and viewtiful joe (and Wonderful 101 even though that's more recent). Other games like Ninja Gaiden (the xbox and up ones, not the NES ones) are good. Onimusha and Monster Hunter are some other good ones. Honorable mentions go to Vanquish even though its not in the same genre, I get the same vibe from it with how off the wall crazy it is.
