Personally, I just pick and choose the parts I like and ignore the rest. Almost everything since... Generations, I think, has disappointed me story-wise, so I disregard it.

Anyone know if you can play in Japanese with English subtitles for this?

This would be cool, but this is only the second time Classic is showing up, and it doesn't even seem to be the same Classic as the one in Generations, what with that one being from time travel and this one being from another dimension. ...Actually, it'd be kinda cool if this world is a different dimension instead of Classic's, and that's why Eggman was able to take over without Sonic stopping him until now, and why Classic's origins are apparently being retconned. I doubt it, but... Eh. Edit: Wait, shit, I completely misread that. That would actually be a passable excuse for bringing these guys back, but it seems... unlikely. They don't seem very passionate about this, so that sort of twist... I dunno.

Didn't they enjoy Sonic Mania, though?

Sombra looks really good. Wonder what kind of abilities she'll have? She doesn't seem much like a stealth here. Maybe she's a defense hero? inb4countdowns

"I'll be the punniest," Calamity said. "Of course, I'm up against Sonic, so it might be a bit slippery, but I'm sure I can do this!"

Calamity continued to doze. However, a tree branch fell on her. She woke up with a start. "I'm-I'm awake! Yeah! Uh, what were-? Oh. Yeah. Pun battles. May the punniest win?" She shrugged.

"You don't know what whoppers are?" Calamity replied. "Dude, you need to try them. They're these little chocolate sphere things and they're a real ball."

"I was doing villain stuff and Star was probably bird-watching or something." Calamity rubbed the back of her neck, then shuddered slightly. "I'm never gonna get used to that. So, why are people missing again?"

Calamity and Star ran after them. When they caught up, Calamity bent over and rested her hands on her knees, panting. After a moment, she stood up straight. "This is weird. And also, Star wanted to know-" Star elbowed her, "-whether we look like our normal selves here, or like these human forms. What else is different here?"

"I'm not promising anything," Calamity replied. "Now let's go find Meowkie!" She pumped her fist in the air far too dramatically.

Calamity quickly got up, brushing off her shirt. "Uh, yeah, I was busy doing... villain... things. Now someone tell me what the heck we're doing here."

Calamity and Star finally wandered into the village almost immediately after Sayaka and Sonic had jumped in. Calamity scratched the back of her neck. "Hey there, nerds. What's going-?" Star signaled for her to stop talking and pointed at the portal. Calamity's mouth fell open. "Well, that's... Fun. I'm just gonna-" She stepped towards the portal. Star abruptly put her hands up, but Calamity grinned and said, "You worry too much, lookit, I'm fine-" Then she tripped and fell in.

All of the classics. Practically everyone loves them, but I really don't like the 2D gameplay. It's not that I hate 2D, it's that it just seems weird for Sonic. Granted, '06 was my first Sonic game, but still.

"I'm down for this too," Calamity said, pulling out a spray can. "No party is complete without spray cheese." Star gulped.

Calamity sniffed and rubbed her eyes. Star gave her a concerned look, and Calamity shot a glare at Star in return. She growled, "I'm not crying. They're just gonna get in the way,", then stared straight ahead with a stony expression.
