  1. I agree with a lot of what Jared says, but these are my biggest gripes with the review: "Overall, this game is not good, in fact it's awful." "If the whole game was just Sonic, and not his stupid friends, the game would be a lot better." Yeah, Sonic Adventure 2 hasn't aged well, but awful? Really? I mean, I not too fond of the mech and treasure hunting stages either, but I wouldn't call the majority of them "bad". I for one can tolerate them. Sonic's friends also aren't the problem. The problem is the use of gameplay styles that stray from the high-speed platforming this franchise is known for. Sonic's friends CAN adhere to the high speed platforming. *cough* Sonic 3 and Knuckles *cough*.

Age: 21 Favorite Sonic Game(s): Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Generations Least Favorite Sonic Game(s): Sonic Boom: RoL, Sonic the Hedgehog(2006), and Shadow the Hedgehog Favorite Elements from the Classic Era Spin Dash: I enjoy the short boosts of speed this ability provides without being totally game breaking like the boost from the modern era. Momentum-based Physics: I think it's pretty obvious why this is a necessity. Super Sonic: It's the ultimate reward for people willing to invest the time to attain all 7 Chaos Emeralds. The enhanced speed and enhanced jump height, as well as the invincibility, are fun to mess around with. I also like this concept because of it's tie to Super Saiyajin from Dragon Ball Z. Multiple Playable characters that play like Sonic, but vary slightly: I like this because it at least provides some variety, without detracting from the overall speed of the game. Beyond that, this franchise has a plethora of interesting characters. Favorite Elements from the post Classic Era Homing Attack: I like this element because it works perfectly with the momentum based physics. It keeps things moving. Plus, it helps defeat enemies in a 3D environment. 3D: 3D essentially eliminates the problem of running into things you can't see. Hub Worlds: Hub worlds are generally immersive, and they're great for world building. Parkour: This enhances the level design greatly by allowing Sonic to run on across and up walls. Furthermore, it just makes Sonic look cool.
  3. Really? I always thought Stephanie Nadolny sounded far too gruff and raspy for the characters she voiced in Funimation's dubs of Dragon Ball, DBZ, and DBGT. I can't imagine her voice would fit Tails either. To each their own though, I guess.
  4. -Playing the Sonic Adventure 2 demo for Dreamcast, which was my first experience with Sonic. -When I was little I was quite interested in natural disasters, so I thought it was really cool when I was sucked into a tornado in Windy Valley XD. -I loved Dragon Ball Z as a child, and still do, so when I saw Sonic go Super for the first time in Sonic Adventure, it was amazing. -Beating the Last story section in Sonic Adventure 2 for the first time!

  6. I liked the music, the visuals, and the portrayal of Sonic. Honestly, Sonic and the Secret Rings is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me as I do like playing it. Also, these are probably my favorite tracks:

  8. I think we stick around because we know Sonic is capable of so much more, and all it would take is a few adjustments to unleash that potential.
  9. I frankly doubt that Sonic will ever be consistently good again, unfortunately. Lost World is proof that Sonic can dip in the middle of a franchise high. Hopefully I'm wrong about Sonic's future, but y'know.
  10. What? Does Stephen even understand that Co-op cannot work without sacrificing the main draw to this franchise, speed? The momentum based gameplay just doesn't work with co-op because the other player(s) won't necessarily be able to keep up. As a result, the lead player has to slow down, or the other players will simply be dragged, and as a result it won't be fun to play.
  11. She exists because people find paranoia humorous...? I don't know. I personally think Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles create a perfectly reasonable dynamic. Sticks is just sorta... there, as far as I'm concerned.
