  1. A lot of characters who exist for a long time change into practically different people over the years. For example, Superman's personality has varied WAAAAYYYYYY more than any Sonic character's

It's funny how we came to Boy Scout Superman, considering in his original earliest versions, Superman was kind of a massive dick.

Obviously, the boy scout version is the best, but it's just funny to think about that, then we get to the DCEU where Superman gets stripped into a brooding dark angst-hero who's told he doesn't owe the world anything, only to go back to normal when DC realised how kind of awful that was.

@Ryannumber1gamer Meh, I like the Golden Age Superman and I'm not the only one. He's still fighting for justice even though he sometimes used bizarre and questionable tactics to do so, and he can definitely be pretty entertaining. Though if Superman existed in real life, him being his GA self might be a bit scary, I will admit.

My ideal Superman is somewhere in-between the Golden Age Superman and the "Boy Scout" version (which I think is pretty much what's portrayed in the first 2 seasons of the Adventures of Superman). I don't like DCEU version much, though.

That's simply the result of characters being around for long enough to have a multitude of different people writing for them (with different demographics and worlds to cater too as far as DC and Marvel super heroes are concerned). Hell, the only series I can think of atm that hasn't suffered from this is Mario honestly.

Though that probably just speaks to a number of issuesthings that I won't go into here lol.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying GA Supes was bad. I just love in contrast, he was still a really questionable person back then at times, compared to nowadays. It's the same way Batman was still a hero and a detective, but he was also running around using guns and weapons, and killing criminals outright.

In terms of Supermen I like though, I think the one from Superman Returns who came back to play Kingdom Come Superman in Crisis was fantastic. The Supergirl Supes is really good too.

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND MAN, THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD. WHICH MEANS EVERYTHING ABOUT IT WAS PERFECT AND ANYTHING DIFFERENT IS WRONG. HOW COULD THEY RUIN MUH CHILDHOOD.

@Strickerx5 Nintendo intentionally keeps Mario as bland and vanilla as possible so they don't have to go through this. His entire appearance is meant to be an Everyman so that he can remain timeless. Obviously that's not going to appeal to everyone, but you sure as hell never hear people complaining about Mario characters the way you hear about Sonic characters.
