Alright, time for another upd-ATTENTION ALL FIREFIGHTERS: We have the notorious graffiti artist and prolific skater "Fever" operating in disguise within our department. Be on the lookout! DO NOT BE FOOLED! (Time to Heat Things Up!)

    -

    Raggedy Accel
Another piece of Accel as another character after I drew one too many parallel connections. Specifically, it's based on the human exoskin used by Jenny Wakeman/XJ-9 by from My Life as a Teenage Robot (which, at least in its design, was itself inspired by the Raggedy Ann doll/character). Although hopefully, this design here is not as malicious as the former character....

By being so much of a disaster it's hard to look away. But even that seems to be losing its luster by now, at least for me.

Penders' idea to redeem Snively and kill him off and have it be a really emotional moment that has Sonic wracked with grief has always felt super weird to me. Snively has been evil and a sworn enemy of the Freedom Fighters for many, many years. Sure, if he finally sacrificed himself, it would be emotional, but grief seems like it'd be an odd response. I would more expect them to be stunned that he had good in him after all, thankful for his sacrifice, and be more serious and somber for a while in light of it. But would they MISS Snively? Of course not! He's been sidekick to one of the worst villains in Mobius' history since the Freedom Fighters were kids! So why would Sonic be "wracked with grief" as though Snively was one of his friends?? And that's not even getting to the weirdness of why Penders felt the need to redeem him or kill him off in the first place.
Some of the other ideas sound OK, but that doesn't necessarily mean they would be any good in Penders' hands...

Todays pic is a bit of a long story but first the pic

So, over on tumblr and deviant art there is an artist with a really cute style who I wanted to see draw my Rosy so we ended up doing an art trade. This is her character, Coffuu who was really a lot of fun to draw. I should probably do more art trades as it is just to practice drawing different characters, but my time availability frequently sucks and I don't find myself with enough breadth of experience to really go all in on it. But I never know if I don't try I guess.
Anyway, you can check out Coffuu's creator on DeviantArt under the handle cometkittygalaxy or on tumblr under either loafyy or loafytoasty. You can also find her half of the art trade here!
    Hope everyone enjoys 😊

Wait, I think Penders has a point here. After all, "a catastrophic event that forever changes life as they know it" is such an incredibly rare and highly specific plot point. The connection between the Lara-Su Chronicles and coronavirus is undeniable. I mean, how many stories in the history of the world have been written which involved some kind of world-changing catastrophe? Pretty much zero, right?

It really hurts the Echidna's in the end. If they are supposed to be sympathetic why do they feel like a bunch of Karma hudini's? Why do they never grow under his pen? Even with a status quo shake up like giving up technology they still keep the status quo by using technology which makes the exile of the Legion even worse.

Also if his comments on Bob Harris' almost prophetical disapproval for Sonic Live and Penders fighting any and all criticism good strong points or not, make me think he literally can't see things from anyone elses perspective.

Given that even when he seems poised to point out and condemn the flaws of Echidna society in the Knuckles book but then refuses to do so, I wouldn't doubt it. He's a guy who claims that the monarchist government of the Kingdom of Acorn makes him 'uncomfortable', but then has the Brotherhood function AS Royalty and are even called that by Remington, yet insists it's not the same. He tries to justify the pervasive domestic surveillance and spying of the Brotherhood as well as defending their refusal to do anything about Robotnik down on Mobius. Even when their history reveals that they were colonizers and aggressors in Cat Country, the Felidae are still portrayed as unsympathetic savages, and Locke isn't even remotely contrite for the actions of his ancestors. Even the Dark Legion, whom he tried to set up as parallels to Nazis, are let off the hook and insisted upon as being 'morally gray' villains despite some of their more blatantly evil actions.
He just... refuses to really plunge the knife, even when he seems on the verge of doing so, and he gets defensive and irritable when others don't see things the way he does.

I suspect this is because some other works have had a moment in the spotlight for some coincidental plot points and wants a piece of that without actually having the work published prior to current events to actually count.

Technically Knuckles and Espio were correct- who is elected IS meaningless given that ultimately, Echidnapolis isn't really a democracy at all, but a THEOCRACY led by a Mitre. Who went completely and utterly unmentioned in a storyline about Echidna politics, or any other story for that matter, until the time of his reveal. So yeah. They were correct by accident, because Penders definitely did not take that into account at the time he wrote that damn story.
Getting back to the Legion's inadequacies- let's look at them on paper. They started out as a band of dissident terrorists who nearly started a civil war, and were then banished to the Twilight Zone (*coughPhantomZonecough*). Now at the time they were banished, all that we see that goes with them is their weapons and a few piece of high tech equipment. Yet somehow, in this Twlight Zone where we never see how they actually live, they have acquired the resources to build tanks and hover machines and weapons and so forth, to say nothing of cybernetics, and with this they have repeatedly invaded Angel Island, only to be thwarted by the Guardians each and every time. In 200 years of their time, they have made no real progress in furthering their goals, and even Moritori Rex's actions don't amount to much in the grand scheme of things despite God knows how long he spent among the Guardians.
In all that time, they have not managed to overtake Angel Island, the Guardians or Echidnapolis, despite the technological disparity given that Echidnapolis 'gave up' their more advanced tech. Beyond that, it seems they never thought to deceive or assasinate any of the Guardians-in-Training who underwent that stupid, stupid isolation training that left them convinced they were the last of their kind, given that if Locke is anything to go by the Dark Legion is NOT something Guardians are taught about despite the personal history and the very real, present danger they present.
In short? They are a terrorist army that has never captured any territory on Echidna Island. They're certainly dangerous (in concept), but their track record does not leave a lot of confidence that they could honestly take on Robotnik/Eggman on any kind of even footing given his not only ceaseless robotic armies, but also the territories and factories and supplies he controls down on Mobius proper.
The only person who legitimately thinks they could be a threat to Eggman is Ken himself, by deign of authorial fiat and favoritism alone. Everyone else, Bollers and Flynn, knows a lot better than he does.

I think it was just a commentary on Comics making silly characters darker and edgier. Gallagher loves poking fun at trends in comics.
Also I probably shouldn't spoil this but I kinda want to mention it because it's a good example of how differently Ken and Karl write Sonic. You know that part where Sonic says they won't tell Antoine about his dad? Yeah Karl ignores it and has Sonic break the news to him. Because Karl actually realized that being a smart ass=/=being a complete and total dick.

Knuckles the Echidna - Issue #12: The Forgotten Tribe, Part 3 of 3: Journey’s End

This is probably the best cover of the three Knuckles issues, though, it’s not as cool as the one from Issue 58 of the main book. I do like the connecting covers here, showing the group walking into danger, in the thick of horrible trouble, then walking out. The only off-putting thing here is Mr. Sourface at the back of the line and his weird, gross looking feet. And Hands. And shirt. And face.
So the question of where these echidnas were going has been answered. I feel like the comic could have done a much better job at communicating that they were looking for a specific place instead of just having them wander about for centuries. It seemed to me that they just kind of got tossed into a situation that they weren’t prepared for and then the Ancient Walkers just told them, “Nah fam. Keep going. We won’t tell you anything specific but be sure to keep walking.”
I hate the Ancient Walkers. The comic shows them and Athair hovering over Knuckles in the night sky as if they’re his protecting overseers but it just comes off more like they’re guiding him back to the bullshit.
The history of these echidnas continues to be the most unnecessarily convoluted nonsense to ever be put to print as far as Sonic the Hedgehog is concerned. I don’t know what the point of extending their history even further back is aside from desperately trying to make them seem more important by virtue of being so incredibly ancient. Also, the gross implications behind them being so advanced, even during the time of cave people, and having them walk on water to reach a Sanctuary is terrible.
This Jesus allegory stuff isn’t a making of my own doing. I feel like it’s almost deliberate now. I don’t even know if Ken really even cares about Sonic anymore. That might just be me, drowning is so much echidna crap that I need some time to breathe though. Also, the structure of this story, again, doesn’t work as being sold as a three issue tale. At the very least, the comic could have made the Rob thing a solo-adventure but it’s integral to the plot here. You have to swap disks to get the full story and it’s really not cool.
    Sigh. Let’s move on then.

Archie Sonic the Hedgehog - Issue #59: Opposites Detract

Holy, Sega Saturn, it’s Horizont-Al and Verti-Cal. They do shit that messes things up and then they get dicked over by Scourge in prison. Are they like the Mr. Myxlplyxs of the Sonic world? I dunno. Maybe. Anyway, neat cover. I like how zany it is as well as how Tails continues to be a brighter yellow-orange.
I enjoyed the first story for being a nice, weird duo adventure with just Sonic and Tails facing some strange and random encounter. It was a nice change of pace. Yeah, it sounds weird to say but Sonic and Tails going on some whacky, misadventure together was actually a change of pace for the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book. Go figure.
That second story wasn’t even a story. I don’t even know what that was to be honest. Might as well have left a post-it note that said “Your story is in another issue”. It wasn’t enough to sour me on the experience but it’s astonishing how obvious it is that they had nothing to tell there. I mean, for as enjoyable as the first story was to me, nothing of any real consequence happened. We just found out the current state of two obscure characters who haven’t been seen or heard from since the second issue of the book for seemingly no reason.
I’m almost compelled to call this filler but the idea that this is filler and the Knuckles shit isn’t fills me with dread. There is no filler in this book, only the good, the bad, and the farcical.

It is currently March of 2020, and since maybe october of 2019, i have been obsessed with Sonic. i'm sure saying that has ticked off a ton of you hard core fans. i've driven everyone around me into insanity with my fandom, friends and family. i get teased quite a bit for it. but, no one has asked me how exactly i came to be a sonic fan in the first place. you people probably don't care, but here's my story.
Around october, it was a friday. and i was having a really Sh*tty day. School sucked royally, and coming home wasn't better. i came home, and my mom and younger sister were at each other's throats. my sister had put an essay she needed to type for karate off hold, and it was now due the next day. my mom begurdingly drove her to the library so she could type it, and we drove around in the mean time. we parked in the lot to Best Buy, and she checked her phone. she started crying, and refused to tell me what was going on. we started driving again, and a bad driver nearly missed us, and crashed into another car. after that brush with death, we parked again and she cried again. now i was worried out of my skull, and she wouldn't tell me because "It's adult stuff."
i decided to distract myself, so i pulled out my phone and checked youtube. "4th wall breaks in cartoons compilation." Perfect. i idly began watching, needing the distraction from this horrible day. Steven Universe, Gumball, Wait... Was that Sonic the hedgehog? i paused the video. yup, that's sonic alright. Now, i knew who Sonic was, but i'd never really gotten into it. the most i knew were Sonic and Tails. when she was in maybe 4th grade, my sister wore a Sonic Tee Shirt all the time, but it had since dissapeared. in may of 2019, the HORRIBLE first trailer for the movie had come out. my dad and i had both agreed that it sucked, and the movie looked disapointing.
i scrolled through the comments. several were talking about how meta "Sonic Boom" is. Hmm. we pick up my sister, and go home. my mom and dad start arguing about something, and then they go upstairs to their bedroom. my sister was really angry about something, and secluded herself in the kitchen. that left me. i flopped on the couch and pulled up YouTube again, and decided to search Sonic boom. first thing that came up was the episode "Anything you can do, I can do Worse-er." i decided to watch it, and i loved it. it was really funny, and i loved watching their antics. for the first time that day, i was kinda happy. by the time my parents came down and we went to get food, i'd gone through three more episodes. "I can Sea Sonic's fear from here", and  "Eggman the Video Game 1&2". And in the two part special, a certain angry black and red Hedgehog made an appearence. As we went for pizza, (parents pretending nothing had happened) I brought up my newest intrgue. my dad then asked, "Isn't Shadow a clone of sonic?"
As i knew zip about sonic, i did the only logical thing. i read the entire wiki article on Shadow.
the next day entailed a trip to the Comic shop with my dad. he went to do his thing, i got comftorble on the floor and started reading stuff from the kid's section. same routine as usual. on the way out, the guy at the counter pointed out a stack of freebies. One of which being issue 1 of IDW Sonic. Yoink!
several cartoons, lets play marathons, Fanarts, comics, cutscene compilations, and theories later, I am obsessed. enter november, when the first redesign traler entered the picture. I loved it! I began really hyping the movie, much to the annoyance of friends and family.
Enter my least favorite day of the year: Valentines Day. the day of broken hearts and emotional torture. but this year, it had ONE redeeming Quality. The release of the Sonic Movie. School was a h*ll hole. my "Friend" mocked me for being single, my enemy mocked me for being single, and one of my closest friends completley stabbed me in the back and Spoiled the movie's post credit scene. i came home and exhaustedly collaped on the couch. few hours later, mom and dad give my sister and i a massive suprise.
We were going to see the sonic movie!!!
I was hours from being totally spoiler free, so i'm still salty towards mason for it. whatever.
the movie was incredible. and when the post credit scene played, the entire theater cheered!! Let's go, Sequel!!!!
so where does that leave me? I'm a dork obsessed with sonic, and sharing my story with people who probably didn't know i existed. Why am I sharing this? Because at the end of the day, there's more to someone than their fandom.
