  1. /vp/ got eyes of steel. Glad to finally get some information though. I love what I see so far.
  2. Saw the movie this week and overall had a pleasant time. I'm not really a movie buff and the only times I've ever gone to movies was if I was either dragged there or if it was to spend time with friends and family. So this being the first movie I just took the time to see by myself was a pretty cool experience. While the moral was nice, what really made me love this movie was the characters themselves and the degree of depth some of them had like Chief Bogo and Bellweather. The dynamic between Judy and Nick was cool as their interactions didn't fall into some very predictable tropes you usually find with Boy-Girl duos. I appreciated that it didn't really talk down to the audience. Good movie.
  3. So pokemon twitter posted this today. That island in the background is Rabbit Island, Oahu. Not explicitly Sun/Moon but it does feel related to these tropical undertones they've given us in the concept art.
  4. Thanks, yeah. It was still a bit annoying though. ORAS was probably the worst offender in terms of raw power it gave you with not just beldum but also Latias/Latios very early on. With Sun/Moon I'd want them to be a little more conservative with the free powerful pokemon. Especially before the halfway point of the game.
  5. I just hope they don't dump a whole lot of free pokemon on us at the beginning like they did in X/Y and to some extent ORAS. Before you even got your first badge you were given not only your Gen 6 starter but also a Gen 1 starter and the free Torchic with blazikenite I think if you got pokemon bank. By the time you reached the 3rd gym the game has already given you 5 pokemon with Lucario and Lapras rounding it out. I don't mind free pokemon but I don't want practically a full team of powerful pokemon given to me so early on.
  6. My initial guess as to what irl local they'll base it on was SE Asia or something around the area. A lot of tropical vibes.
  7. Just woke and the first thing I see is a new pokemon game. Wish there was more to go off of but still pretty excited!
  8. Not all surprised really. Disappointed, but not surprised. I just hope it's nothing too dire.
  9. Sounds like the question I asked was better meant for the Mega Man books. I kind of figured the 4 issue rule wasn't some arbitrary limitation for the sake of itself, but it still can be just that, a limitation, be it Sonic or Mega Man. I agree that a story should be the length it needs to be without wearing out it's welcome and not happening too quickly. Unless the story is perfectly fitted for four issues (which most Sonic ones are), it makes shorter compact stories too long and long stories too short.
  10. I'm not really suggesting it for the sake of difference though. Not even every arc, really. Just arcs that could benefit with an extra comic or two if necessary to help with pacing. The recent Silver Age story for example I felt could have been a bit longer with regards to the Council and the monster's rampage. Perhaps it's a personal gripe but the whole arc felt a bit rushed.
  11. Do you think the comics should stick to a four issue arc format or expand to possibly five or six? Or do you think it's fine as is? Perhaps maybe dependent on the arc itself? Because personally I feel four just isn't enough in some cases where there is a lot of plot going on and the whole thing has to finish in that confined amount of time. I'm not talking about sagas though, I think those don't really need a necessary issue limit as it's a much broader story and serves as a background.
  12. So how would one get the digital copies? My sub for the physical comics is coming to an end and I might jump over to the digital version. Tired of the missing issues and late delivery.
  13. Love it! So cute, the both of them!
  14. Methinks I might have a new wallpaper soon.
  15. Look, OP. This a pretty big powder keg of an issue and there is a ton of frustration when the general attitude towards your favorite characters is that they are easily expendable/unneeded and a large portion of the fanbase hammers it home for almost a decade that these characters you like are the problem, and it's not so much how they are incorporated but how it has molded over time to be their mere existence as the problem. That's what gets to me when the notion of getting rid of these characters is mentioned. Reading what you wrote, it's mostly a game play issue you have with these characters which I'd concede. I like Big but many many people didn't find his fishing gimmick enjoyable and I'd agree. I just think it's more productive to go over how to improve them rather than rid them from games.
  16. Doesn't Archie want the shattered world to fixed? Why do they stop the good guys? ;_;
  17. Damn that quote makes me cringe. Anyway, I don't think there is much that can be done with people that far down the Sonic only way of thinking with helping them see Sonic's friends in a better light. It's hard to change someone's mind when there is a strong conviction behind those feelings. However, the best thing Sonic Team and third party developers can do for fans in general with regards to the other characters is to make them fun and especially when playable, functional. When the hate Sonic's friends bandwagon started rolling around in '06, most problems people had with all these characters was that they didn't play well. Knuckles glide was nerfed badly and both him and Rouge had a chance to get stuck on walls. People were annoyed that Silver was so slow and the hub worlds made it much more worse in context. Especially the jungle one. Shadow's vehicle sections were a buggy mess with terrible controls. Things like that. No one was complaining about playing as Knuckles or Tails in S3&K. People weren't complaining about characters in the Advance trilogy and the general vibe is that Blaze is a great inclusion. The only time people have ever made a fuss over Sonic's friends was when they were poorly implemented or did jack all in the games plot. Simply put, just do a good job incorporating the characters into the game should they be in the game. Sonic's solo games haven't been without issues either so his friends being the bane of his success flies out the window.
  18. Just upgraded a graphics card and a power supply for the first time and it went well without a hitch.  Mildly surprised ^_^

Now to download those textures and ENB's for Skyrim...

  19. I actually did like some of their stuff like the Don't Hug me I'm Scared stuff and the Shrek greentext story. As for the people who are guests/regulars on the show, I haven't heard or seen anyone mention them in their rants. It's just been towards the bros.
  20. Here's a live stream of their sub count going down.
  21. Even though I think the continuity would be safer with Archie, it might have a chance to survive a buyout simply on its legacy alone. Sonic the Hedgehog holds the record for the longest running licensed comic book, beating out giants like Conan the Barbarian. I'd assume that whoever gets the chance to write for the series would want to keep that record going. Though this entire conversation is speculation and a lot of the time things are unpredictable.
  22. As much as I detest the frequent delays with Archie, I'd much rather have them as the publisher if it meant the best possible chance the current cast of characters and plots remains intact. Edit: Meant as a reply to Barry the Nomad
  23. So far I've only seen Archie. But I'd love Sonic Twitter to give the other sonic venues like the comics some more TLC.
  24. I like it. It's a nice mixture of Edge(tm) and fun winter merriment . Why, if I squint hard enough, I can see a twinkle in Shadow's eye.
  25. When I was talking about porn being inherent, I'm mainly focusing on the scope of it in general. Though, argument-wise, it could be a whole lot of factors why sonic has a lot of this kind of art; cute/attractive characters, easy to emulate character design, the audience age range, fetishes. Looking at the r34 booru tag count (for research purposes), Sonic stands at roughly 20,000+ images. However, it is dwarfed in comparison to MLP with a whopping 77,992 images. Some of the things I listed above could also be checked off like cute characters and a simple character design that has many many templates to create artworks. It's a fandom with a rather large young adult audience even if it wasn't intended (I'm included in here too). Maybe it isn't best to compare the similarities of a fanbase this way but there are some similarities in both having mountains of adult content.
