Baraksha got a reaction from A wild west steam engine in Zone Idea Station - Share your Sonic Level Ideas Here!
I never really had a dream stage, but I though this could be a fun thread so I decided to think of something and throw an idea. I was thinking of an area that has a whole bunch of stadiums in them and sonic would from time to time go throw one of them and them perform some tricky stuff. This is a small amateur rushed drawing I made of part of the concept. Sonic would come out of the entrance, run up the ramp, then you would have to perform a light speed dash in order to reach the loop, but those are not boost loops so they won't make you fly but they will increase your score. After the light speed dash sonic would almost hit an enemy and fall into the spikes bellow, unless he will perform a homing attack before that, then the homing attack's blast will give you enough high to light speed over the other trail of rings and so on, but at the end before reaching the other ramp you have a chance to hit an enemy with a homing attack, and then the blast would make you go up and hit some boost rings and so sonic would fly outside the stadium like a homerun.
Also I feel like making this joke, he might go through his OWN stadium if you know what i'm saying.

Sonic the Hedgehog Hacking Contest 2016
For the last few years the Hacking Contest has been getting better and better with features such as live streaming from well known names and community voting. We want as many people as possible to get involved so a thread on Sonic Stadium would help a lot. I have been advised by Azoo that just like with SAGE 2016, an admin will be creating a sub-forum to discuss Hacking Contest entries very soon, so let's get things going first with this thread. Please excuse me for any formatting issues, IPB is a pain to use nowadays...
    JUDGES
This year's judges will consist of myself, Ayla, Cinossu, LazloPsylus, Shannon, SuperEgg and SSF1991 (Donnie) along with new judges amphobius (DalekSam) and Clownacy. This judge list is not final and additional judges may be recruited to replace former judges who have left the contest due to retiring or other reasons – do not ask to be a judge as that just rules you out. If we think you're up to the job, we'll talk to you.
This team will be reliable and will be able to deal with contest judging as soon as possible in order for us to progress through the contest and get the results out as soon as possible. Judges will be able to submit their own hacks, but will not be able to judge it themselves, nor will they be able to judge submissions that they have been involved with (such as team hacks).
Please note that the final decisions are subjected to the Judging Team, and may not reflect your own opinion, so if one hack wins a whole load of trophies like last year, well that’s what the judges thought should have won. Judges may change at any time due to unavailability or other reasons.
    TROPHIES
First are the normal trophies. Please note that any level specific trophies are now hack specific meaning they no longer go by individual levels in a hack. Judges will allocate a winner to each trophy and if a particular entry that missed out has enough support as a runner-up an Honourable Mention will be added as well.
    Hidden Palace Trophy
Grand prize / 1st place. This is given to the overall best hack in the contest.
    Wood Zone Trophy
    2nd place.
    Dust Hill Trophy
    3rd place.
    Green Hill Trophy
Hack (or specific level of a hack if non-applicable) that plays most like a Sonic game.

    COMMUNITY TROPHIES
These trophies are trophies that are awarded by the community during the Contest Week. In order to vote you must have an account at either Sonic Retro or Sonic Stuff Research Group (SSRG). If you have accounts at both places, please only use one to do voting - we can check for fraud after all.
    Hidden Palace Community Trophy
    Best hack submitted overall.
    Big Community Trophy
    Worst hack submitted overall.
    Windy Valley Community Trophy
    Best art hack submitted.

...And there you have it!! The only other incredibly important thing to mention at this point in time would be the rules of this hacking contest. These are generally the same as last year's with a few changes:
    RULES
    1. Your entry must be based on an existing Sonic the Hedgehog ROM or game. No homebrew submissions will be accepted.
    2. No palette hacks - we have moved on from these sorts of hacks and can do far better than that nowadays, plus there is no trophy for palette hacks.
    3. Level layout only hacks can be submitted - if you can't do much with your hack and think it can't be submitted, think again. Ask a judge if you're unsure though.
    4. Joke hacks along the lines of Sonic 1337 will not be accepted. Feel free to make something humourous though!
    5. No Private Hacks. Entries are either Public (Hack can be downloaded) or Partial (media such as screenshots, videos and music only available to the public).
    6. You must include media such as screenshots (absolutely mandatory, must include a title screen image), videos (YouTube links are fine) and music (MP3 and VGM preferred). The judges will no longer waste time making screenshots for you.
    7. E-mailed submissions will not be accepted. All submissions must be through the online script.
    8. All submissions MUST BE PLAYABLE and cannot prevent judges from playing the game. Judges have the right to look at your incomplete work if you submit it, and judges do not allocate trophies based on your incomplete builds, only the last build submitted.
    9. Hacks found with stolen content are not tolerated and anyone caught will be dealt with severely and their entry will be null and void. If anyone suspects an entry to have stolen content, contact a judge IMMEDIATELY.
    10. These rules can change at any time. Check back often (or at least before you submit something) to make sure they haven't.

CONTEST WEEK - Monday 7th to Sunday 13th November
Like the last few years, the public will have a chance to view this year's entries, download the public hacks and vote for Community Trophies. If you’re planning to debut your submission to the public, you can do it then however nobody can be stopped from releasing earlier. If you want to show it off to the biggest audience around, the Contest Week is your best time for it. From Monday, access the Contest Site at http://shc.sonicresearch.org/ and get involved by playing the entries, watching the live streams and much more. Hacks can be downloaded by anyone, and all entries are public this year, but remember if you want to vote you must have an account at either Sonic Retro or Sonic Stuff Research Group (SSRG).
Regular streamers SomecallmeJohnny and MegaGWolf are returning this year, alongside the debut of redhotsonic (who created the official trailer for the Contest Week) and we will have streams from myself (Spanner), Neo Hazard, Bartman3010, Geek Critique and a very special stream on Saturday that we will leave to speculation until that happens. The Sonic Show will also be producing content as well. The results of the Hacking Contest will be announced on Sunday at 8pm GMT / 3pm EST on MegaGWolf's channel. The full schedule of the streams will be released at the weekend.
If you have any questions please let us know, also feel free to follow our newly-revived Twitter account and like our Facebook page. We also have a Discord Server set up for the Contest Week and you can join this as well.

Baraksha got a reaction from Miragnarok in Speak With Your Wallet?
There is something that's been bothering me lately. You know the "Mania will have more rehashes" thing right? Well alot of people seem to be disapointed and even angry at this fact and I totaly understand, I mayself feel kind of sad that we won't have a comepletely new expirience as we though. However that's not nearly enough to make me any less exited for Mania. Anywayd I was thinking, people like to say "speak with your wallet" when it comes to telling the developers what they should do. However Sonic Mania does seem to bring alot of attention to many people and will most likely sell really well. Probably well enough to make SEGA and their developers to think that they are in the right direction and that there is no error that are necesary to fix. While I do think Sonic Mania is awesome and I love it I still wish for better then this. So does that mean I have to skip Mania to show them this is not what we want? Because that might tell them "we hate this idea" rather then "you could do better". I'm just confused on what to do if I want to show that I still like the idea but I wish it was better.

Wow, didn't expected this kind of topic to apear, but since you're asking I did expirienced it many times myself, after the first 5 times it happened I got curious and looked it up, until then I though all those times it happened were just a wierd nightmare and nothing more, until one day it happened right when my mom was waking me up and I got her scared. after I finally looked it up I though that I learn that there is no point in strugling againts it when it happens. But that did not stoped me, you know why? Because the next few times it happened I was aware that I had sleep pyralysis, however I always seem to get bored of waiting after a few minutes and then start thinking just how much I want my control back, I'm starting to go nuts, it's most painful when someone is near you and you want to give them a signeture that something is wrong and that they should try waking you up, that's so annoying.
Me when I get sleep pyralysis and someone is near:
    wake me up!
    WAKE ME UP INSIDE!
    can't wake up!
    WAKE ME UP INSIDE!

Baraksha reacted to Apollo Chungus in Was Sonic Ever Good? - A discussion of the popular narrative
I've been thinking for a while about doing a video about this whole idea running around at the moment that Sonic as a series was never good. That somehow, we were all duped and allowed a pile of filth to become so popular. That the series has such a bad reputation these days that the idea of it having simply fallen from grace seems unfathomable; no, it had to have been terrible from the start. However, every time I think about it, I can't form my thoughts into a coherent manner and I end up scribbling gibberish. So I thought I'd ask y'all to chime in on the topic, and possibly help me out.
For what it's worth, I think Sonic earned (and continues to earn) its fame. It's not flawless, no; it's had problems maintaining consistent gameplay direction and quality. But the series has had good games for most of its run, and at its worst is simply really divisive. I get that it's not for some people (which is absolutely fine, speaking as someone who's never enjoyed Mario), but it's the whole trying to impose a subjective opinion as objective fact that really pisses me off.
I may be cynical enough to believe that something crap can be successful if it has a popular name attached to it. But I'm not cynical enough to believe that something crap can become really popular without any prior fame. To become one of the most widely recognized names in gaming, Sonic had to have been good at some point. By that logic, the first few seasons of The Simpsons is total crap because most people don't like most of the seasons that came afterward.
Also, if Sonic was never good, why are we still talking about it? Why does this forum, along with many others and fansites, exist? Why do people make fanart, fanfiction, fan music or stuff inspired by this series? Why are games, comics, TV shows, merchandise and loads of other things still being made? We could be talking about literally anything else, but it's this series we choose to discuss. It must have struck something enough to remain in the public consciousness, instead of being forgotten long after the fact. Just a thought.
One more thing: if you try to shame people who enjoy the series in any way (yes, even sexually), you are a complete wanker.
    Let the topic begin!

Baraksha got a reaction from FFWF in No more yearly releases
Oh yeah, I play those two. You know what? On second though there is to many stuff to occupy me, I think that this year I was just very tense and exited because I was woried about sonic's future after sonic boom. I mean everyone was on the edge of leaving the series and I had to know if whatever they had next could save them or they would lose everyone's interest. But I feel more calm now that I finally know what the future for sonic is.

...oh come on, don't give me that look. You know rolling around all those lumps would be a real riot.

In all seriousness though, I do like it when stage tropes are mixed together into unlikely combinations, even moreso when they're actually done convincingly. Like a desert with lots of water features, Or a mechanical level overrun by nature. Or the obligatory grassy level as the penultimate stage in the game as opposed to the starting one. Hell, put all the special stages together and make an actual stage out of it, I'd like that.

Baraksha got a reaction from JezMM in Why was the Dreamcast version of SA never ported?
I admit that it would be better to just report the dreamcast version, but I personally first played the game through the DX port and honestly, I don't find reason to "HATE" it, sure it's more glitchy and doesn't have better lighting, but to say that who ever plays it over the dreamcast one  "haven't truly played Sonic Adventure" I think that's kind of an exaggeration. I mean it's still pretty much the same game with the same gameplay and the same story  and the difference doesn't really affect to much on the experience

Got an interview here with... little to no detail, but still. There's no relation to PT, Del Toro and Ludens, the company mascot. The explanation of the title seems to nod towards a strong Sci-FI/Supernatural element, which after the MGS V opening I am ridiculously ready for.

    Super Sonic!

This thread is dedicated to the Sonic games in X minutes series made by this forum's very own @Roger_van_der_weide~! This series is actually popular which is why I am making a thread on it, aside from being my favorite. It makes parodies of games..... well actually it summarizes a game whiten a very short amount of time. He draws out everything and I guess animates them to, all the while providing a very humorous take on the Sonic games. Let me show you some videos from the series:
^^^ this one is the more recent one haha
^ this one is just too funny
^ this one is awesome to
oooh and for one I REALLY like:
I really love this one since I can relate this when I played the game and I loved his Eggman.
Anyway, discuss? What is your favorites of this series? Do you like this series? Which games do you want to see next?

I relised something, the sonic 2 disassambly is using .bin files for the mappings, unlike sonic 1 who uses .asm files. also sonic 1 allowed me to still change the Graphics and pallate  which are .bin files. so my theory is this, SonicMapEd has a goo .bin exporting system, but has a problem when it comes to .asm
