  1. Sent my Switch out for repairs, so hopefully it'll reach Nintendo soon.

  2. Ugh...

Seems like my new Switch Lite may already have some form of drift; whenever I turn the left control stick to the left, it just resets to a central position, leaving me completely motionless in-game. Naturally, this is causing a lot of games to be almost impossible for me to play.

It’s shocking Nintendo still haven’t bothered to fix this.

    2. NegaMetallix

      NegaMetallix

Precisely! And now I'm stuck wondering how much I might have to pay just to get it fixed...

This. This is why I have held off on getting a Switch for so long. Most of my controllers die to drift (two GC controllers, Xbox 360 controllers, thankfully only 1 Xbox One controller, and so many PS2 controllers that I've actually lost count), and Joy-Cons from what I've seen are expensive as hell, let alone getting a Switch Lite with the same issue but worse since you can't just replace the cons. From what I've seen from Joy-Con teardown videos, the analog sticks detect movement by rubbing a piece of metal against a conductive surface. So what surface did Nintendo pick for this job? Graphite. You know, the same stuff that's in a number 2 pencil. Needless to say, the drift happens because the graphite wears down, and all I have to say is:

      Strickerx5

My friend got a Switch a couple of months back and is now experiencing drift... I feel like the only reason I haven’t seen it in mine yet is due to me barely ever using the Joy-cons to begin with nowadays.

Though wow, it being in the Lite is really bad...

  3. Huh. Can't say I was expecting to see a NeiR Automata costume for Kat in Gravity Rush 2. That's pretty cool!

...Aaaand now I'm reminded that I still have yet to actually play Automata, despite how much I really want to.

    1. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

      play gravity rush 2 first

      :u

  4. Just got back from watching Rise of Skywalker. It feels pretty rushed in places, but I liked the film overall.

It's probably my... mid-favourite Star Wars film in the entire saga? Not exactly great, but not bad either.

  5. Hmm, I was planning on rewatching Star Wars 7&8 before the weekend, but they don't seem to be available on any UK streaming services.

Guess I'll just have to memorize them instead...

      Failinhearts

it'll be easy to memorize the force awakens at least

      get it

because it's just a new hope again

  6. Has anyone had any issues with likes/reactions while browsing here on mobile lately?

I've recently noticed that, for some reason, a bunch of random posts and statuses keep getting liked by me, despite me never actually reacting to them. It's bizarre.

    1. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

It's possible you're tapping them by mistake. The new layout, at least on IPad for me has been somewhat slow to load stuff, and I do remember accidentally hitting reaction on posts before on the mobile version of the site.

    2. NegaMetallix

      NegaMetallix

I doubt it. The posts and statuses in question only showed up as liked long after I'd left each page, and I'm certain that it's not due to accidentally clicking the reaction icon (otherwise I'd see the list of reaction choices pop up, which they don't in these instances).

    3. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

I'm not sure then, it might be best to open a topic in the Bug Report sub-forum and let the admins know.

    4. Failinhearts

      Failinhearts

Hasn't happened to me. Most of my technical issues come from not being able to post statuses at points or liking things... twice.

  7. So, I was tempted to get Jedi: Fallen Order today, but then I spotted a certain cute as heck platformer in the store...

    1. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

I've been meaning to get the Switch version for the DLC chapters, and I'd love this game physically, but £40 is really steep for a physical copy of a near two year old game.

    2. NegaMetallix

      NegaMetallix

Yeah, it is pretty pricey. I mainly went for it since I had a bunch of in-store credit to use, and I've wanted a physical release for so long. (Plus I can just pick up Jedi: Fallen Order elsewhere.)

But yeah, in any other scenario, it's better to go with the digital editions.

    3. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

That's a fair enough point, as I said, I'd love this game physically since it's one of the few collect-a-thon games I loved enough to bother going for 100% in, which the last two games to pull that off is Banjo Kazooie, and Mario Odyssey.

Jedi Fallen Order is pretty good too so far though, although the combat ranges from excellent to bleh. Against Stormtroopers and human enemies, it's fun, but against animals, it kinda sucks.

  8. Went to the cinema for Le Mans '66 (the Ford vs Ferrari film). It's probably one of my favourite films this year, in all honesty.

...Though that may have to do with me being a big fan of the GT40.

  9. Oh, Spidey's staying in the MCU after all?

    Neat.

  10. So it finally happened, huh...

  11. Ugh, think I might really need to switch internet providers soon. A lot of the household phones take ages to recognise the wi-fi, and the PS4's connection speed recently has just been... hoo boy...

  12. It took a while (mostly thanks to procrastination) but I'm finally done with the first palace in Persona 5.

Now to prepare for the exams...

  13. Pay day's arrived for me, so time to get some Smash DLC!

  14. DAMN, that was a good watch! Doom 64? SNES games finally arriving? A remastered Xenoblade Chronicles? Banjo & Kazooie releasing TONIGHT?! (Plus some Mii costumes I've been waiting a long time for.)

    ...Yep, I'm satisfied.

    1. Nina Cortex Jovahexeon

      Nina Cortex Jovahexeon

Actually, it's a remake that Xenoblade Chronicles is getting.

    2. NegaMetallix

      NegaMetallix

Ah, gotcha. I wasn't sure which one it falls under at that moment, I just know those graphics aren't Wii/3DS quality anymore.

Either way, I'm looking forward to it.

  15. Huh, I forgot there was a Nintendo Direct tonight.

Guess I'll go watch it now.

  16. Why is it that whenever I finally start to catch up with one show/game/whatever, another two or three manage to show up on my radar? At this rate, I'll never catch up with everything I want to.

Can life just... I dunno, slow down a bit?

  17. Guess Spidey really IS far from home now...

  18. I'm almost finished with the first palace in P5. But, er... I'm cutting it close to the deadline.

Is that gonna be bad in the long run?

    1. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

Yes, you always want to aim to finish palaces as early as possible, as you're then allowed to use the following free days to build your stats and confidants. You want to aim to finish the palace in about 1-2 trips, 3 max, at least for the early palaces.

    2. NegaMetallix

      NegaMetallix

Crap. Guess I'd better restart then.

    3. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

      @NegaMetallix

I wouldn't now. If you're almost done, just keep going and finish it. It isn't a massive deal on the first palace, but you definitely want to do it on Palace 2 and 3 as they have bigger deadlines but still are relatively simple to finish in a few trips.

    4. NegaMetallix

      NegaMetallix

I dunno. I feel like I've made little-to-no progress on anything outside of the palace, not helped by the fact that I'm literally on the very last possible days before the deadline.

Even if I finish the palace and beat the boss, I'm gonna be left with the smallest possible free time available until the second palace appears.

    5. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

*shrug* Up to you I guess.

    6. NegaMetallix

      NegaMetallix

I'll give it some thought at least. I'm likely underestimating the sheer length of the game in total, so it's possible that there's nothing for me to worry about in the long run, so long as I don't screw up with the other palaces.

(...And there's New Game + too, so...)

Please never forget that you don’t have to play the game in a specific way. I played Persona 5 blind, and it made my experience feel all the more personal.

  19. Gonna start playing Persona 5 today. Anyone got some helpful tips I should know about before I begin?

    1. DiamondX

      DiamondX

During the game you can spend time with "Confidants". However, what the game doesn't warn you about (IIRC) is that for some you will need to increase your stats.

There are 5 stats for the main character:

-Guts (increases when you take on the Big Bang Challenge or by studying in the library)

-Knowledge (increases when studying or correctly answering questions in class)

-Kindness (increases when buying nutrients for your plant)

-Proficiency (increases at the Batting Cages or when you craft items in your room)

-Charm (increases from going to the Bathhouse)

These can also prove to be beneficial outside of Confidants (Knowledge allows you to try answering again during an exam, Proficiency allows you to craft more items).

Something more important is learning how to handle your free time as most missions have a deadline. After doing an activity outside of shopping evening will start where you are no longer able to progress with your mission. Make sure to get to the final part of a mission at worst 3 days before the deadline since 2 extra days are required to finish it.

There is more but these are the most important thing in my opinion. Have fun with the game.

      Polkadi~☆

Feed your plant as often as you can to level up your Kindness social stat faster.

    3. DiamondX

      DiamondX

@Polkadi~☆ I literally keep forgetting to do it and I'm almost done with the game and all my stats are maxed or almost maxed while my Kindness is barely at 2 or 3.

      NegaMetallix

      Thanks for the advice!

You won’t be able to get all your confidants at the start because of stat requirements, and this will be dealt with in NG+ as stats carry.

That said you want to focus on the following in the first run -

-Sojiro - has one of the best storylines, and doing his quests allow you to create coffees and curry to take into dungeons to refresh your SP for Persona specials. It’s one of the most effective ways to restore it outside of leaving, so absolutely worth it.

-Tae - Tae is the local doctor in the free clinic near Le Blanc and is where Joker will be buying healing items. Doing her confidant gives you bigger discounts and adds more potent items for buying, helping in the long run.

-Futaba - Not only does she also have a great storyline, but she’s different from the other thieves as she acts as your navigator after the fourth palace. You want her skills ASAP as she’s able to upgrade and buff your party mid game, automatically reveal the randomised map in Momentos, and other useful things.

-Kawakami - She’s one of the best bar none, not only due to her storyline, but her abilities is damn near essential. She will be able to excuse you from class on random days, allowing you to take the time to stat build, and more importantly - she can give Joker a massage later in her confidant quests that allows him to perform two tasks at night, as opposed to one, meaning you can use it for more confidants or stat building. She can also make Sojiro’s coffee for you if you’ve finished his quests, and wash items found in palaces. She’s basically a massive time saver.

-Chihaya - She’s one of the late confidants But one of the best, I made the mistake of not finishing her quests, but I’ve read if you finish her quests up, she’ll allow you to get temporary boosts to your gains, including finishing other confidants quicker.

-You generally want to get some levels with all of your Phanton Thieves crew. The reason being is doing so will get you some random bonuses, such as them randomly doing an extra turn and stunning an enemy, being able to Baton Pass to other allies when an enemy is stunned and more.

      Adamabba

Whenever you hang out with a confidant, try to have a persona of the same arcana as them in your inventory as often as possible in order to rank them up quicker

Remember: whenever you see UP!!! next to a confidant that means they will rank up when you see them

Use the thieves alliance during class when getting asked a question so you can always answer correctly and increase knowledge (or don't if you think its cheating)

turn on english subs in the menu, even if you're playing with english audio

  20. So I got some new games today; traded in CTR and a couple others for Pokémon Emerald and Persona 5. Should keep me busy for a while.

      Ryannumber1gamer

Now you too can be introduced to best Persona 5 girl

      NegaMetallix

Ah yes. I can finally get myself aquatinted with... that one.

  21. It's nice to see that they're not only continuing to introduce regional forms, but also expand on the concept with exclusive evolutions for those forms.

The only issue I had with Alolan forms was that, even with the new types/abilities/etc. not all of them were useful later on in the game. With new evolutions like Obstagoon, though, hopefully that won't be the case this time.

  22. *sigh*

Seems like whenever something good happens in our home, things always find a way to ruin that good mood almost immediately. I'm absolutely sick of it...

      Yikes, that really sucks.

      Hope whatever happens resolves itself.

Thanks. I just wish these issues could stay resolved for more than a day, for once.

      Hope your situation improves man.

  23. Just had an all-you-can-eat meal with the family to celebrate my brother's birthday a couple days ago.

    I'm soooooo stuffed...

  24. Man, I hate losing GSP in Smash sometimes. It's like it just says "Hey, this character you think you're good as? You SUCK as them!"

    1. tailsBOOM!

      tailsBOOM!

It was a stupid inclusion, because people act like you're only good if you have a good GSP yet people cheese their way into Elite Smash

    2. NegaMetallix

      NegaMetallix

I've still yet to see Elite Smash pop up. Any time I'm even remotely close to reaching the requirements, I lose one match and BOOM! There goes nearly half of that character's GSP!

I miss the Smash 4 options...

    3. tailsBOOM!

      tailsBOOM!

@NegaMetallix Me too.  That's why I don't do Quickplay anymore.  The last time I remember doing it was when I was trying to beat the Challenges.

    4. NegaMetallix

      NegaMetallix

Funny you mention that, as I've literally just finished the last challenge on the online board.

I should probably use battle arenas more often.

  25. Just finished watching Hobbs & Shaw.

I'd say the film's definitely stupid, but in a good way. A fun popcorn flick from start to finish.
