  1. Sent my Switch out for repairs, so hopefully it'll reach Nintendo soon.

  2. Agreed with all three of these! The House of the Dead arcades (usually HoTD 3 or 4) were the one game I always dreaded seeing at the local arcades, mainly thanks to the demos often showing the player getting attacked A LOT. That PS2 Red Screen... *shudders* It still creeps me out to this day. I'd just want to play some Gran Tursimo 4 or mess about with Action Replay, but if that screen popped up then my PS2 was staying off for the rest of the day! And yeah, Spider-Man PS1's final boss also terrified young me. (Heck, the symbiotes in general always scared me as a kid!) I never did beat that final level; partially due to Monster Ock himself, but also due to to the level design. ... Okay, so for something that hasn't been mentioned yet - when I was young, one game I used to play a lot was Soulblade (AKA Souledge, the precursor to SoulCalibur). I wasn't really scared of the game or its characters... for the most part. One day, I finally made it to the end of Arcade mode. I defeated what I thought was the final opponent, and then... ...THAT happened. I'd always hated seeing skeletons moving as a kid, but I think the moaning screams coming from Souledge were what really terrified me back then, especially since it happens right after you've defeated the previous enemy (Cervantes). Seeing this reminded me of one moment in a LEGO game that legitimately got me, despite being far more recent - The Venom level in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Even LEGO managed to make me scared of the symbiotes!
  3. Well, this was a surprise to see! I loved playing Blue Rescue Team waaaay back when it launched, so seeing it getting remade with new features (or at least, the same as Super Mystery Dungeon) has my interest. I'll be trying the demo later today.
  4. It's great to see Game Freak FINALLY moving on from the old "just release a new version with more content" method, but as Blue Blood said, it does make the base game seem that much more rushed. I may have to wait and see what people say about the first expansion before I can decide if this will finally get me to try SwSh properly. Actually, it sounded like you can get both evolutions in both games, but the items required are only available in each DLC pack (the item for Slowbro on the Isle of Armour, and the item for Slowking in the Crown Tundra).
  5. Ugh...

Seems like my new Switch Lite may already have some form of drift; whenever I turn the left control stick to the left, it just resets to a central position, leaving me completely motionless in-game. Naturally, this is causing a lot of games to be almost impossible for me to play.

It’s shocking Nintendo still haven’t bothered to fix this.

Precisely! And now I'm stuck wondering how much I might have to pay just to get it fixed...

This. This is why I have held off on getting a Switch for so long. Most of my controllers die to drift (two GC controllers, Xbox 360 controllers, thankfully only 1 Xbox One controller, and so many PS2 controllers that I've actually lost count), and Joy-Cons from what I've seen are expensive as hell, let alone getting a Switch Lite with the same issue but worse since you can't just replace the cons. From what I've seen from Joy-Con teardown videos, the analog sticks detect movement by rubbing a piece of metal against a conductive surface. So what surface did Nintendo pick for this job? Graphite. You know, the same stuff that's in a number 2 pencil. Needless to say, the drift happens because the graphite wears down, and all I have to say is:

My friend got a Switch a couple of months back and is now experiencing drift... I feel like the only reason I haven’t seen it in mine yet is due to me barely ever using the Joy-cons to begin with nowadays.

Though wow, it being in the Lite is really bad...

  6. Huh. Can't say I was expecting to see a NeiR Automata costume for Kat in Gravity Rush 2. That's pretty cool!

...Aaaand now I'm reminded that I still have yet to actually play Automata, despite how much I really want to.

      play gravity rush 2 first

      :u

  7. Got a couple things this year: A Nintendo Switch Lite (to replace my old Switch, which is now owned by my youngest brother) and Gravity Rush 2 on PS4. Other than that, it's been a pretty normal day so far.
  8. Just got back from watching Rise of Skywalker. It feels pretty rushed in places, but I liked the film overall.

It's probably my... mid-favourite Star Wars film in the entire saga? Not exactly great, but not bad either.

  9. Hmm, I was planning on rewatching Star Wars 7&8 before the weekend, but they don't seem to be available on any UK streaming services.

Guess I'll just have to memorize them instead...

it'll be easy to memorize the force awakens at least

      get it

because it's just a new hope again

  10. Has anyone had any issues with likes/reactions while browsing here on mobile lately?

I've recently noticed that, for some reason, a bunch of random posts and statuses keep getting liked by me, despite me never actually reacting to them. It's bizarre.

It's possible you're tapping them by mistake. The new layout, at least on IPad for me has been somewhat slow to load stuff, and I do remember accidentally hitting reaction on posts before on the mobile version of the site.

    2. NegaMetallix

      NegaMetallix

I doubt it. The posts and statuses in question only showed up as liked long after I'd left each page, and I'm certain that it's not due to accidentally clicking the reaction icon (otherwise I'd see the list of reaction choices pop up, which they don't in these instances).

I'm not sure then, it might be best to open a topic in the Bug Report sub-forum and let the admins know.

Hasn't happened to me. Most of my technical issues come from not being able to post statuses at points or liking things... twice.

  11. So, I was tempted to get Jedi: Fallen Order today, but then I spotted a certain cute as heck platformer in the store...

I've been meaning to get the Switch version for the DLC chapters, and I'd love this game physically, but £40 is really steep for a physical copy of a near two year old game.

    2. NegaMetallix

      NegaMetallix

Yeah, it is pretty pricey. I mainly went for it since I had a bunch of in-store credit to use, and I've wanted a physical release for so long. (Plus I can just pick up Jedi: Fallen Order elsewhere.)

But yeah, in any other scenario, it's better to go with the digital editions.

    3. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

That's a fair enough point, as I said, I'd love this game physically since it's one of the few collect-a-thon games I loved enough to bother going for 100% in, which the last two games to pull that off is Banjo Kazooie, and Mario Odyssey.

Jedi Fallen Order is pretty good too so far though, although the combat ranges from excellent to bleh. Against Stormtroopers and human enemies, it's fun, but against animals, it kinda sucks.

  12. Oh... that seems inconvenient. Come to think of it, what with this and the TV issues recently mentioned in the main Sw/Sh thread, it kinda sounds like these games aren't exactly well-optimised for the Switch's docked mode. For the moment, at least.
  13. You probably just have to hold the controller upside down instead. The Joy-Cons and Pro Controller have built-in gyroscopes, which are needed for Inkay's evolution.
  14. Went to the cinema for Le Mans '66 (the Ford vs Ferrari film). It's probably one of my favourite films this year, in all honesty.

...Though that may have to do with me being a big fan of the GT40.

  15. And hellooooo new desktop background!
  16. Ah, so Meltan and Melmetal ARE transferable? That's good to hear. Seems a little odd to me that only the Unova and Alola legendaries are transferable, though. At least my event Lunala isn't solely relagated to the 3DS now...
  17. I must admit, even as someone who's not really interested in the film itself, seeing those entertaining responses on Twitter has put a big, fat smile on my face.
  18. Gonna echo what others have said, that this doesn't look like a total disaster anymore... but it is pretty generic. I'm still not willing to pay money to see this.
  19. That makes sense. I just prefer having that option there instead of having to fly back to a Pokemon Centre just to switch teammates. I wonder if a decent compromise could've been to allow access to the PC almost anywhere, but removing access in particular areas such as caves, thus keeping some element of strategy. Definitely! I hate seeing shiny and/or powerful Pokemon up for grabs online, only for them to have nicknames ranging from "1" to "AAAAAAAAAAAAAA" (and that's just the tame ones...)
  20. Oh cool, Sonic actually looks like Sonic now. ... That's all I got. The rest of that initial trailer did nothing to entice me into seeing this film, so a redesign for Sonic isn't going to change that.
  21. I'm really liking the look of these new features! Being able to access the PC anywhere is brilliant, as are the nature mints and vitamin enhancements. I really hope that these mechanics get carried over to future games too.
  22. Oof. Pretty upset to see a lot of personal faves didn't make the cut. Aerodactyl, Feraligatr, Scizor, Porygon2, Swampert, Metagross, Staraptor, Magnezone, Zoroark, Volcarona, Greninja, Incineroar, Lycanroc... all completely absent. There are a decent amount of selections for Galar that I like, but overall this is leaving me feeling rather disappointed. Heck, even Meltan and Melmetal didn't make the cut! I honestly thought they'd be a shoo-in for Sword/Shield, but guess not.
  23. According to some of the replies in that tweet, the post-game Galar Dex totals at 632 Pokemon (177 less than Ultra Sun & Moon) while the standard Galar Dex has 400 (or 405; presumably some hidden, mythical Pokemon). Eternatus is Pokemon #400 in the image above, so there's a chance it may be encountered sometime before the endgame.
  24. ...Y'know, when they said that the top and bottom halves of fossils could be mixed and matched, I can't say I was expecting the results to look so... oddly disproportioned. I mean, the Arcto combos don't seem too bad (ArctoVish might even be a combination of the same fossil type) but those Draco combos are just bizarre!
  25. Seems like it'll be the same as the previous story events for Blue and Hilda: A couple of side missions involving you, the new character (in this case, Caitlin) and a third member, with a Spotlight Scout for Caitlin running alongside the event.
