KoDaiko got a reaction from PC the Hedgehog in Mega Man: Fully Charged
I mean, if she IS Suna=Roll, what was the point in changing her completely? Everyone else is somewhat similar to their original counterpart. Representation? New kids probably won’t care but it bothers me that Dr. Light himself is white-skinned, made a white-skinned son(s, given Namagem is the same), yet made his one daughter black. Unless she’s actually human and mixed. Or she's a robot based on his dead wife. Or just, something.
    -------------------
What makes me be sad is that they said something along the line of “this cartoon is based off Classic”. So, an adaptation of Classic? No. A story based on the universe but different characters like X? No. An AU using Classic characters but with a totally different world and story like BN? No.
The story is basically Classic, the world is silimar to Classic,  the theme is the same as Classic, they even push the nostalgia of Classic via sprite/music, but they redesign/replaced the character/mechanics. If we’re going that far, why not a faithful adaptation? Why treat it a new series??
Why rename Rock to Aki? Is Rock too silly, despite most of the main cast being music-themed?
Why is he a generic “regular schoolboy with a secret hero identity”? Do we really need the robot part?
Why change Roll to a black girl named Suna (not confirmed)? Is Roll’s original design bad?
Why give Rush a “normal” form? Why does he need to transform too?
Why change how Megaman’s copy mechanic works? Why make it more time-consuming?
Why replace Wily with Srt. Night? Why replace the most iconic villain of the series?

Now, when it airs I’m going to try treating it as a totally new series. But I will forever question the decision of the creative staff behind it.

Haven't read the issue yet, but just reading that panel, I interpret it as Sonic being more objective.
"an entire planet" sounds less personal and more...statistical? What's the word??
""You almost detroyed MY/THIS/THAT house" sounds more specific and accusing, while "you almost destroyed A house" sounds like "you are dangerous/capable enough to destroy a single house,"

    ....yeah I dunno.

Sonic, you could've broken the house down!
The Chaotic section reminds me of Japanese manga.
Don't mean to sound weird, but I am happy to see Rouge's boobs. (I may be wrong, but my impression of Archie Rouge is her sexiness toned down). Also happy she's not so much of a "mom".

    True.
Tbh I was hesitant to criticize post-reboot's Rouge because of that. She was way, WAY better compared with pre-boot.

"Sonic is a sociopath/psychopath" What? Wh....what????? I can't believe I'm reading this phrase with my own two eyes...
You know this is a fictional game, a cartoon right?

I'm okay with her being the brain/common sense out of the three, but I felt that became her only defining feature in the Archie run. Especially since she was always a secondary character, and they toned down her body and suggestive personality.
My impression of Archie's Rouge is she was more "normal" and a "mom" than a sly, cunning spy-thief. For example I found it odd she was visibly sweating and nervous toward King Acorn. I expected her to be more calm and even playful, she should've experienced more stressful situations.
Of course I don't remember all the details, and that's what I think she should be. Could be wrong. Maybe wrong. Probably wrong...

    Is TV trope that reliable?
I dunno, I want to believe Ian and SEGA's statement of looser mandates and more creative freedom. It's smarter to say nothing than lie (especially when most people won't believe it anyway), or else they're gonna have to keep building up lies and have bigger backlash later on.
Ian sorta said that (most of) the mandate was to keep conisistency and identity of the Sonic series. Which is reasonable: as long as they don't stray away from what Sonic is supposed to be, there is creative freedom. There is no clear distinction on what can or can't be changed, but for now I'm looking forward to how the series go.
Oh yeah, it was interesting to hear how Ian was sharing and brainstorming ideas together with SEGA.

I'm sure some people said that, just brushed aside. I think there were others discussing whether her reaction to Blaze and Sonic was having hots or just fan-girling.
Yeah, Ian can make small mistakes, but none are enough to send HATE. There are so many people who blame and hate him for petty reasons.
Was that the "Cream can't fight" mandate? It makes me wonder what counts as fighting.

I am happy how he handled the last question. I liked how he pointed out some fans tend to focus only on the character's sexuality even in their first appearance. Especially when the question said "A lot of people read her reaction to Blaze as so" and Ian replied "And many interpreted her and Sonic's reaction as so too".
It was funny he said he'll get hate for anything he does. Poor guy.

Darn you're right. I was tired of seeing shipper debate around me, it was a big relief how he handled it. The other questions was interesting too, just not important enough to talk about (for me).
That reminds me, I was happy about how he answered the mandate thing too. I was annoyed by how people exaggerated it to demonize SEGA, so another huge relief.

I don't understand why Shadow should be treated differently right from the beginning. Sure, he's popular among many edgy teens. But as others say, he's also hated or mocked by another bunch of people. Shadow was a heavily plot-and-story-oriented character. In the past. His introduction and development arc was sorta done in game. Now SEGA intends him to be one of the support characters. He may be a tier different than the rest, sure, but he's still low compared with the main protagonist and antagonist. Also, Shadow has a different tone and character than the rest of the Sonic series, so they need to be careful in handling him.
Even if some may think Shadow is the most popular and  should have special treatment, I think the IDW comic exists (and Archie existed) to give equal opportunity to the charcters, not just pandering to the vocal part of the fandom. It's going to make you like character you weren't fond of likable, or give those character you felt were neglected a chance to shine. I'm sure they're trying to make you enjoy Sonic as a series, not just specific characters.
Shadow having a story arc later on? Sure. But this is an introduction. It's supposed to be light and simple. It's supposed to equally show off the characters in game. After the intro they can do whatever they want. Also, even if one think it's a well known fact and IDW is an idiot for not investing now, IDW needs to see numbers and sales on their own to back that claim. Maybe later IDW will  say, "Hmm, the issue with Shadow sold well, let's have an issue focusing on Shadow as the main character later"  but even then they won't say "Shadow is the most popular so we're gonna give him 6 issues everytime. The other guys? Eeh, the regular 4 is fine."

We have to remember that SEGA always had trouble portraying characters like they intended to. I mean, we've been complaining how Tails/Amy/Knuckles/anyone's portrayal was one-dimentional and useless in recent games. Do they lack potential? What if Infinite was also the same victim?
While many may consider Infinite as "bland" and "lame" in game, in concept he is SUPPOSED to (I think??) be this sadistic & elitist, but sorta complex villain character. He even has a backstory and all that. So if you didn't feel that in game, the comic can fix that. Just like the comic brought back Tails and Amy's intended character. They can flesh out his personality more, and even build off from there. Given people praised Archie for making certain character likable and enjoyable, I'm sure IDW can do the same.
That is, as I said earlier, if he isn't dead. If he's dead, then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ or maybe SEGA has a different plan? who knows....
Infinite being Shadow's edgier fancharacter was sort of a joke. He reminded me of how certain people portray shadow in their fanfic or treat it as canon.

Infinite can work in the comic, given he is not confirmed dead. His cruelty, ego and inferiority complex has some potential if done right. In description he sounds more like a villain from the comics anyway. tbh I see him as an edgier fanfic-version of Shadow.
What...is the difference between city and village (and town)?  I never really thought about it....

I personally think loot boxes are fine as long as it's not a requirement to play the game (some games intentionally make it difficult to play without "upgrading" something), or it gives an unfair advantage over other players (common in one of those Japanese Gacha games). Tbh I was annoyed more at free & optional gambling elements in game considered more dangerous than lootboxes. RIP Pokemon slot machines...
The 48 hour thing is ridiculous, but for the most part harmless. It will be shitty if there is no free demo though.

I agree with that. Some of the background characters (like that white dog with blue dot on her forehead) had a reccurring-level design. They're too detailed compared with the other randomly generated looking ones.
I wonder if some of the background characters are the actually artist's personal OCs. That would explain. Or they're planned to be recurring in the future.
