  1. revisiting an old game idea. a platformer where you can't jump, but you do have an extending spear

Would you be able to vault with the spear?

There's a Nitrome game where you pole vault instead of jumping to get across gaps. Have you played Vault?

I figure this would be like that but not an endless runner.

Would she have a sort of pogo stick like move similar to Shovel Knight?

Image result for shovel knight pogo jump

And I figured out a cool name idea: Gesa (https://www.thenamemeaning.com/gesa/)  which literally means "Spear Maiden"

If you actually make this a game let me know... It already sounds interesting with the limited information (Just make it appear on 3DS or Switch)

@Kaze no Klonoa hm, sort of? the main idea is that attacking into a soft surface (dirt, wood, etc) would work like in the gif while hitting a hard surface (stone, metal, etc) would work more like a jump. whether that counts as vaulting is up to interpretation i guess.

@LongcrierCat nah, haven't played/seen that before. my idea's less physics-y and more about thrusting than spinning, but that's something i'll keep in mind.

@tailsBOOM! yeah I was thinking about some kind of pogo ability (though maybe more ducktales than shovel knight). and that's definitely a fitting name but I'm not sure I like the sound of it. i was already considering calling her Mint since she's got green hair, a kinda leaf-shaped ponytail, and a spear, but i'm not entirely committed to it yet.
