I...... don't know how to say this, and I think you guys'll think I've gone crazy.... if fact, I myself fear I'm going crazy.

As each day passes I feel a stronger and deeper connection to Sonic... I.. don't know how to explain it. I... I just can't get away from him, no matter what! (Not... that I don't enjoy it.)

I just... I'm drawn to Him. His world. Everything.

This doesn't even feel like obsession (I think this is though).... trust me, I've been through it with Pokemon. This is NOT the same as last time!

(At one point I think I compared the two to the whole Shoulder Angel VS Shoulder Devil thing... if you know me personally, you can figure out what that means.)

EDIT: for some reason it's even stronger past midnight... (I wish I could remember my dreams, but it's been hard to do that lately since I keep getting WOKEN UP by someone/something)

EDIT AGAIN: By day, I'm just a normal fangirl... but come midnight... things get weird for about an hour, it's like I'm BECOMING Him! ... and it feels so... RIGHT. and after the hour so so has past, I'm left in a state of confusion and awe. for some reason I mumble "Sonic..." just as I'm falling asleep...

And No. I'm not some friendless otaku. Not anymore. Not like when I........ (blah, I'm goin to bed now)

BakingBluePotatoe reacted to Vertekins in Sonic Character Design Definition Topic
It depends on the species and environmental origin of said species.

Zeti, Black Arms and Wisps have understandably distinct designs because they're not native to Sonic's world and are not anthropomorphic animals. Whether or not they actually 'gel' with the designs of the humans/anthropes is another thing but they don't have to mimic body shape and anatomical aspects down to the wire due to their foreignness.

    Anthropes of Sonic's kind definitely have established rules for design aspects in SEGASonic with very few exceptions;

    - Eyes are generally large. They seem conjoined in Hedgehog's and separate for other species. Some anthropes such as Big and Storm have considerably smaller, very round eyes (The black on Storm's eyes is not sclera)

    - They generally come in highly varied often vivid colours. Some species have colours atypical of their real world species i.e Tails being golden orange as a Fox, Marine having browns evocative of certain breeds of Raccoon, Koala's in the Coconut Crew being grey.

    - With extremely few exceptions, no anthrope has toes on their feet defined as digits. Chip and the Koala's are the exception. This is a likely incorporation to design in order to not make the characters look too humanoid. This is why Tikal's feet look fairly horrid here compared to the rest of her in Archie when the artist ignored this facet of her design;

    - With the exception of Sonic's Werehog form, no anthrope has fingernails. In extreme likelihood, Sonic's claw-like nails in Werehog form are to get-across his feral look as well as facilitate his hook and slash-type attacks in his moveset. Darkspine, who isn't really any different to normal form size and proportions wise has no fingernails, pretty much confirming that they grew on Sonic due to the nature of the transformation.

    - Hair is never ever human-esque i.e Anthropes never look as if they've scalped a human female and are wearing her barnet on top of her head. Hair styles are stylized extensions of the fur itself or markings on it such as Rouge's tufts on the bottom of the back of her head, Marine's pigtails and Vanilla's marking on top of her head getting bushy clearly with age. Like the toelessness, this is such a distinct trait of SEGASonic design that you can easily see an artist who has no grasp of the SEGASonic design standard when they incorporate human-esque hair on an anthrope.

    - Many anthropes wear gloves and shoes. Dressed males seem to be the exception rather than the rule. Females are always dressed at least modestly i.e Covering their chests and lower regions.

    - Height and weight can be variable. Naturally small animals are rarely above 4 feet tall in adolescence and uncommonly over 3 feet tall in childhood. However, compact characters such as Sonic are deceptively heavy for their size. Large animals such as Crocodiles, Polar Bears and Ungulates are typically taller, over 5 or even 6 feet and are correspondingly heavy.

    - There is distinct sexual dimorphism between individuals of the same species. Male Echidna's have defined cheeks on their muzzles seemingly lacking in females as well as spike-like claws on their knuckles, also lacking in females. Male Hedgehog's have long noses compared to female's button noses. Females are noticeably more voluptuous and 'shapely' in adolescence, males lack this.

    - Limbs are typically quite thin. Hands/feet are broad. Heads are quite large. Range of articulation on limbs are not 'extreme' unless the anthrope is raising their arms above their head.

Day 30: "Finally, the adventure is over" Favorite Ending

Agreed, the ending is always a satisfying one, and it's perfect fit for an anniversary game!

and now for one of the few endings I've acctually earned, that isn't Sonic:

    Pokemon Diamond/Pearl

It's always satisfying beating the Champion in a Pokemon game. And this one sticks out because it's the first one I beat, and ya know? Cynthia is AWESOME, and I just love how the ending credits give off the feeling that it was indeed a very long journey, and now you're going back to the place where it all began... Gives the proper emotional closure.

    Sonic Generations

Is it a big, elaborate ending full of emotional closure and a mighty triumph? Not particularly, but it doesn't need to be. It's a cozy little ending with some nice resolution (as well as a hint as to how classic Sonic eventually grows into modern Sonic) and a feel-good parting shot, with an ending that invokes the retro style of the likes of S3&K with its musical direction, and it benefits from it because of how pleasant it is. It's not a big bang, but it's a sweet showing for the 20th anniversary.

    Day 26: Favorite Generation

I have to go with Generation 6. Gen 6 holds very much nostalgic value for me, specifically the Gamecube and GBA. Gen 6 introduced me to gaming in the first place. Many of the first games I ever played (like Superstar Saga, Leaf Green and Metroid fusion) were on the GBA, and the Gamecube has plenty of great games. Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Sunshine and many others.

Another recent favorite of mine is Kingdom Hearts. I got the HD re-release, but it was originally on the PS2 so I guess it counts as one of my favorite Gen 6 games. lol

This game looks absolutely incredible. Every moment seems to be a breathtaking one, with so many different colors being used for each one. Even for a Sonic game, the details are really over the top. It makes the game feel that more realistic, with the smallest of objects given lifelike qualities.

    Day 21: Most memorable unlockable

    Super Luigi Galaxy

Yes, yes. Haden already beat me to it- but that's not the point. The point is, this was absolutely awesome. When my bro and I unlocked Luigi, we ended up playing around with him just to get an idea of how he was different and oh man. For one, he jumps like a motherfucker with his triple jump reaching incredible heights. He can make jumps and take shortcuts Mario could only dream of. He's also a lot faster and slides around a lot. Really, it's memorable to me for those first minutes of play and the surprise at how OP and awkward Luigi was to use. Going back to Mario was a little hard after that, to be honest.

    Day 21: Most Memorable Unlockable

Man, Super Luigi Galaxy was a real treat. At the time, the only other Mario platformer in the series I had played was New Super Mario Bros. on the DS, and I found it so cool how when you did the L + R + Start cheat, you could play as Luigi in place of Mario, because I had only ever seen Luigi appear in the spin-offs, from the Mario games I had played I mean, and I thought it was so cool for him to have a main series appearance.

Anyways, I was eager to see if there was some similar cheat that would be revealed at the end of Super Mario Galaxy, ala the way it was revealed at the end of the game in NSMB, when I first got it, but then I eventually reached Ghostly Galaxy, where Luigi makes an appearance. That sorta lead me to believe he wouldn't be playable at all, and the missions where you just find Luigi and he gives you a Power Star didn't really help diminish that belief. Soon after beating the main game, my mom got me a strategy guide for it. I looked through it to see if there was any mention of Luigi, and at the very end of the book, it mentioned Super Luigi Galaxy, a mode that lets you play the whole game, from the start of Gateway Galaxy, as Luigi. I thought that was so cool, I immediately worked on getting all 120 Power Stars, and beating the final boss once more.

It was cool because it was Luigi, but man it was especially cool because Luigi played differently from Mario. He was faster, jumped higher and farther, and he had less traction. It made playing as Mario again after that feel noticeably stiffer. Man I also thought it was hilarious how there ends up being two Luigi's in the game, because of the mission in Ghostly Galaxy, it was a funny surprise. Super Luigi Galaxy was just an all around nifty unlockable, and pretty much cemented Luigi as my favorite Mario character.

An honorable mention would go to Hyper Sonic in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, man it was just a really cool reward for all the effort you have to put in to get him, and man it was fun blasting through all of the levels again as him.

But yeah man, there ya go.

    Fake Crash(CTR)
Fake Crash is seriously one of my favorite unlockables in any game. Mainly because he's just a parody troll unlockable. The sounds, animations, etc. he makes are just so hilarious and wacky. And his design is just amazing.

Unlocking Sonic in Brawl was also another amazing bonus. Cause, come on, it's Sonic! Despite how you feel about the character, you got to admit him getting in was quite a surprise.(Even if his overall gameplay was average.)

And then we have another big favorite of mine.

    Ultima Weapon(KH Series)

This is one of the most satisfying rewards in any game for me. The thing kicks butt, and fighting bosses like Sephiroth or any of the final bosses with it are so satisfying, cause you feel unstoppable. (heck, just fighting common enemies with it feels amazing as you can basically instakill with it.) The design also for each game is different, it never feels repetitive to earn.

Donald and Goofy, the two very popular Disney characters show up as your sidekicks during your adventures in Kingdom Hearts. Sometimes as just characters, sometimes as your fighting back-up, but either way they're always super entertaining to see. Their constant developing friendship as time goes on is great to see - when they first all meet, Sora is nothing but a key to help find the king, but through adventures and comedic banter they become solid friends. Seeing them reunite at the start of Kingdom Hearts 2 is heartwarming, and I can't wait to see them come back as a trio once more in Kingdom Hearts 3.

No other choice fits better for me than Kamek from Yoshi's Island, and its for a very simple reason. Presence.

Throughout the entire game, Kamek is a constant thorn in your side every step of the way. His Toadies are constantly lying in wait for the moment Yoshi drops Baby Mario, ready to whisk him away before you can even retaliate, and in Boss Fights, he personally arrives and tells Yoshi its pointless to continue as he powers up the minion before siccing it on him.

Generally I prefer this approach with an antagonist, compared to say Bowser or Dr. Wily who sic the minions on you from afar then only show up near the end game. It gives you a sense of personal stake on the their part and makes them appear far more active in their plots, instead of like they're off doing their own thing and just waiting for the hero to foil their schemes and beat them up.

I also appreciate that aspect in Eggman's classic appearances, and wish he would do that a bit more in some of the more recent games :V.

As I said, I was only WATCHING my Dad play but still. The Bridge. It's so intense! They did really good showing the fact that you where up REALLY high, and one wrong move and you could go falling a few hundred feet into the ocean o.o

Also, Ravenholm was petty awesome as I remember. Along with anything involving Alyx and DOG.

So instead, I'll mention the moment in HGSS involving her, Arceus, and the creation of Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina in an EGG! It's just so... mystical and epic and awesome. Just... watch it for yourself. I can't really describe it.

Was it Sonic? Yes. Was it an RPG? I guess. Was it awesome? Oh hell no, not by a longshot.

It should be in real time. and the music was... well, the tunes where kinda sorta okay, but the music itself was awful and forgettable. And I remember the dialouge and the story didn't really flow as well as they should have.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head there - they're not wanting to reveal the information yet, they just want to get people interested for the time being. Nintendo aren't really in a good business position right now so the more attention they can bring themselves, the better, and they're being very crafty about how they're doing it.

    1) Nintendo announces highly wanted games with next to no information
    2) People are overjoyed that the games exist, but...
    3) ...the lack of details means they have to speculate, creating discussion
    4) Nintendo teases a "sneak peek" of the game
    5) Fans go into hype mode, more discussion, attention all on Nintendo
    6) Nintendo reveal the absolute bare minimum amount of footage
    7) Fans discuss what little they've seen, share disappointment, but ultimately still speculate and crave for more
    8) E3 2014 is a month away, big reveals expected
    9) Come 10th June, everyone will be watching Nintendo, if only for a more substantial look at Pokemon

If that isn't a 9 point marketing plan for success, then I don't know what is

I imagine, what, there must have been hundreds, if not thousands of devoted Pokemon fans who tuned in to the broadcast to see those few seconds of footage? If they can manage to inspire those levels of interest for something so tiny, just imagine how huge the audience is going to be when the megatons are pretty much a guarantee.

Day 11 - Most Frustrating Moment

Not corrupted save files. That's depressing, but it's the game's fault. It can't be helped.

    Nothing like forgetting to save.

Pokemon is so precious that I know more than well to ALWAYS SAVE TWICE before I turn off a game, but not all games have that so ingrained in my head. It could be turning off the game without realizing I hadn't saved, or worse, not saving frequently enough and having something screw up somewhere - a power surge, a glitch, whatever it may be. It's one thing to turn on the game and see that, outside your control, it has been ruined. But the guilt weighing down on you as you ask, "Why didn't I just save earlier?" is heavy. So heavy, that for me it's impossible to just jump right back in and redo what's been lost. Having this misfortune always ends with me putting the game to the side for months or years before I work up the motivation to go back to it. It pretty much ruins a game for the time.

    Day 11: Most Frustrating Moment

I've got THREE things to mention here, all of which, DEAD SERIOUS, have actually happened to me somehow.

    Corrupted/Deleted Saves

Thankfully, I only had the corrupted save shit happen ONCE. and it was my fault. I didn't press the Gamecube's power button on all the way, and to my horror when it DID boot up, I got that dreaded message asking if I wanted to format my card. I didn't. nope. BUT, I had cards in BOTH slots. and SOMEHOW, I have no idea why, most of my files somehow cloned themselves onto the card in slot B. And later, somehow, my card from Slot A revived itself. LUCKY ME.

HOWEVER, I have SEVERAL times when I had my save files deleted. Almost every time was because of my stupid little brother. See, most of this was when he was a kid, so it's kind of forgivable but still, I DON'T forgive him. somehow he got his hands on my GBA and almost all my games. Guess what the little brat did? he killed ALL my save files, even on games that had multiple saves. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. I was halfway through Yoshi's Island, and made a SHITTON of progress on the Banjo-Kazooie game for the GBA.

And there was this ONE time recently, where I had a friend over and we where testing the Steam Family thing while on MY computer, and we had Sonic Generations up... we where curious, since she was logged into her account and not mine, what would happen if she where to hit "New Game"
Aaaaaaand it killed my old save. Oops.
Good news is, I wasn't THAT upset, as I like the game enough that I'd be willing to redo it aaaaaaall over again. and she did most of the main story so I didn't have to. AND we now know that hitting "New Game" on the same computer is probably a very bad idea.

And while not EXACTLY the same thing, when I switched computers, I THOUGHT I had all my important files, but I somehow overlooked all my data for Stepmania. FAAAAAWWK. So I lost all my scores, and I would have lost all my songs if I hadn't saved the downloaded ones in a folder in My Documents. but DAMNIT, I was NOT looking forward to reinstalling EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM AGAIN. Uhg.

    Oh, and there was this one time, while this didn't happen to me, I still feel bad. I was in like, 3rd grade, and I had this cheat device for the GBA, and a buddy had a game and wanted me to help him out and use the device on his game. Did that, then OOPS, corrupted save. Though, I think it was his fault for turning it off too soon, probably because he was in a rush, but I still feel awful about it ;_;

    Ruined Consoles/Games

Like with the Great GBA Save Wipeout, I blame my little brother for this. So, when he had my GBA, he somehow managed to bite into my GBA enough times that my screen was RUINED. Yeah it worked, but I couldn't use it for shit because I couldn't see half the damn screen. Bonus points as he killed my first ever game console. >.>

But that's not where it ended oh nooooooo. Sure, my GBA games where all in one piece save for the lost files, but... that didn't mean my Gamecube stuff was safe, OH NO. About the only things he didn't kill where my MMemory cards and the system itself. I lost track of just HOW many games and controllers we had to replace because he thought it was funny to chew up my shit. Eventually I resorted to taking it all to my room and keeping the brat OUT.

Oh, but of course, he killed something valuble. the bonus disc that came out with early copies of Mario Kart Double Dash. Damnit, I miss that Bonus Disc, it was fun playing the demos and watching trailers and shit. OH, and my favorite controller, the Spice Orange one...

But that's not all. Nope. I've had at least 2 or 3 DSes commit suicide somehow... Nintendnium my right ass cheek, the hinges kept breaking. And my current Lite is on it's way out too... damnit. This is why I Do NOT take my 3ds out of the house and I am OCD levels of careful with it. It's limited edition after all, and I would hate to loose/kill it.

    Stolen/Lost Games

Oh god, this has got to be one of the worst. It's happened SEVERAL times over my lifetime.

First time was in 3rd grade I think. I went to a Christain private school, so you'd THINK this wouldn't be an issue. Now, just to be clear, we wheren't usually allowed to bring them, but we could bring them on certain occasions, like during the few days we had exams or whatever. Yeah, you'd think that'd be a time when we weren't allowed but... whatever, I guess the point was "amuse the kiddies" and on that level, I guess they where with the times. *shrug*

Anyways, so lalala, I brought my GBA and several games. Guess what happened? over the course of a few days quite a few of them got stolen. Sonic Advance, Sonic Advance 2, my Gameshark/AR/whatever I had, and probably some others. Well, Shit. YET ANOTHER BATCH OF GAMES TO REPLACE AKSJDLKSAJLDFKJLKJ

Years later, I was in... I think 7th grade? I had a buddy who mentioned that her Pokemon Diamond game got wrecked cuz it got washed. I decided to be nice and lend her my copy of Diamond till the year was over, so she could have her fix of Pokemon for a bit till she got a new copy. No loss to me, I barely did anything with Diamond, as I only got it to have extra storage. Now, I never did get it back, but that was NOT her fault. Shit happenned, and I somehow got suspended till the end of the year, and I never saw her again, and I didn't have my number, so I had no chance of getting it back. Not even the following year, as I was homeschooled then. Yeah. Oh well, at least I didn't loose anything, and I did eventually replace it... years later but whatever.

then, senior year, I lend out my copy of SA2b, a memory card -one that was blank of course- and a controller to someone who was my friend at the time. This time I at least had his number, so I could bug him if I wans't able to see him. Guess what though, SURPRISE SUPRISE, he never returned it, and by the year was over, I had given another friend my other copy of it. Well shit, now I have to replace that game for the third fucking time.

Thankfully the only friends I have IRL can be tracked down right to thier damn house, so if they pull nay funny business, I can just reclaim my shit.

    =======

and now for some random in-game moments:

Having your shit get wrecked by another player in Minecraft. Thankfully, I only played with my friend, and the damage was minor, but it was still frustrating. At least she didn't destroy the shit I spent AGES making, but It did annoy me when she wrecked villages that where actually nice. >.<

    MOTHER FUCKING NORMAN:

Good. Fucking. CHRIST. Maybe it was because I was a newbie at the time, but I am NOT looking forward to him in the Remakes.

For whatever reason, as I mentioned in another post, Agrabah in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. Even worse, I don't specifically remember why.

    Kinda in-game, kinda not:
    2 shiny-related Pokemon things.
I FOUND A SHINY WURMPLE NEAR THE START OF A SAPPHIRE RUN. I was playing on an emulator. No chance of transferring it.
I CAUGHT A SHINY CUBONE AFTER 7 IN A CHAIN. I stupidly traded it for a hacked Darkrai. I still beat myself up for that stupid move.

IRL: I thought getting a backwards-compatible PS3 would be a good Idea, as I could play PS2 games, PS3 games, and I will definatly have the right console for Kingdom Hearts 3. Right? Kingdom Hearts 3 is PS4 only. Well shit. Thankfully I found this out before I could actually GET the system. I later got a PS2 for about 40 bucks, so I took the cheaper way out and now I can still play the PS2 games I wanted... sure, I missed out on a small handfull of Ps3 titles, but meh, I have enough games to last me for a while.

STEAM SALES The best and worst things ever. Good that you can get games cheap, but... NOT so good when a game you want goes on sale and you don't have enough money in the account and can't get more until sometime AFTER the sale. Then you have to wait a few months. >.>
