  1. https://www.sonicstadium.org/2019/06/iizuka-says-2021-will-be-a-big-year-for-sonic-drop-dash-will-be-a-mainstay/ Izuka says that the next main series title will be another anniversary title. He is also planning on having the Drop Dash as a mainstay, which is why it is in the Sega Ages Sonic 1. (I hope it displaces those Wisps). He also mentioned how Mighty and Ray entered Mania, in a way that gives me hope for certain OTHER characters to weasel their way into the classic series if not elsewhere. The longer gaps are a good idea on paper, as that’s what the console manufacturers do, and there is material to fill the gap.
  2. Hi everyone, and welcome to Obscure Sonic Characters! This is a place where you can talk about Sonic characters who have been forgotten by Sega. I doesn't matter if they're from the games or the comics. As long as they have been part of an official piece of Sonic media, they count. Anyway, that is all for now, bye!
  3. Title says it all.. (I haven’t played Shadow yet so I’m not including that in my list by you can) SA1 > Unleashed > Generations > SA2 > Heroes > Secret Rings > Colours > Lost World > 06 > 3D Blast > Black Knight > Forces
  4. I don’t mean quit because you’re tired or quit because you wanna watch Netflix, I mean get so angry at a game that you have to take a long break before you come back. I have a lot. Games I ragequit - Sonic 2 (GG) - because of the hang glider stage Sonic Blast - because of the lava level Sonic Adventure - because of Big’s stages Sonic Adventure 2 - because of Security Hall Sonic Advance 2 - I think around Sky Canyon I quit Sonic 06 - one of Sonic’s mach speed segments, then the ball puzzle Sonic Unleashed - as much as I love the game now, I used to hate it. I quit during the Werehog’s stage in Mazuri Sonic and the Black Knight - I really hated the motion controls Sonic Lost World (3DS) - I quit during the stupid pushing snowball stage Are you as pathetic at Sonic games as I am? Post down below!
  5. What sonic character do you guys wanna see comeback? Plus why do you guys wanna see them comeback?
  6. A few weeks ago I traded in my copy of The Jak and Daxter HD Collection because of the whole fact that I have the original games on my PS2. Also because I only like the first game and not the last 2. I have also decided to refuse to buy games such as Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the Gamecube because it is just a remake of the original on Dreamcast. But recently with more HD games coming out (Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 to be exact) I feel like I'm going to miss out of the Final Mix versions of those games. I didn't mind it with 1.5 HD Remix since the first Kingdom Hearts only features a few extra bosses that mean nothing in the long run of things and that Re: Chain of Memories was terrible in my eyes. . But with 2.5 HD Remix on the way and the fact that Kingdom Hearts 2 and Birth By Sleep are my favorites in the series I don't want to miss out of the content that is in these versions (especially on the fact that the final mix version in these game are huge compared to the original). I'm also a Trophy Hunter on my PS3 so I chose to only keep games that I have 100% completed on my PSN. Which is why I traded in some of these games to begin with. I didn't like Jak 2 on the HD collection and I chose not the play Jak 3 so I chose to trade it in because of that. I kind of don't know what to do. The Inner OCD in my is saying "Don't bother it will feel out of place in your collection have more than 1 version of something in your collecting", but my other OCD side is saying "Get them so you can get all the trophies, you love these games don't you?" Should I add HD games to my collection or should I just stick with what I have?
  7. Well, time to make a topic about this. Well, as you guys know, Some of us been dubbing comics with others for a couple of months. And now you know of the Sonic the Parody dub we're doing that's now a community project. So basically, this topic is for all the projects we're doing and if anybody wants to join in. =D Our Main Cast is: Inferno Cola Monkey D. Eddy Blue Wisp Kamicciolo SockDrawer Angelscar Frokenok3 Solkia Vizard Jeffhog Stricklerx5 demon-wisp33 and Agent York. Right now we're working on 4 Video Game Fandubs: Sonic Adventure- Big's Story. Sonic Unleashed. Sonic Adventure 2. Super Mario Sunshine. And others planned in the future as well. Here's a scene from Unleashed that I've edited as an example. For Comics, we're doing anything, we've been doing missyuna's comics mainly. Here's one I've done with Inferno recently. http://www.youtube.c...er/SpinDashDubs Here's the channel for checking out more of the comic dubs. Sorry if most of this seemed like Advertising. :r So who's up for joining us? Any Suggestions? What do ya think of these fandubs overall? =D (also kami please don't clobber meh ;w;)
  8. So I have been going back and fourth recently on a video game concept that I have been wanting to do for a while, problem is, I keep changing the story around. not much else to it, while I know I don't want it to be complicated in therms of plot, I do want the game to have multiple endings. Not because I want to at least make a story, but because I want to increase replay value by adding multiple endings and levels (similar to that of Shadow The Hedgehog in 2004). Now some of you are probably thinking? "But Bonkers, why don't you just write a simple story that isn't that hard to understand?", well I would but the problem is. The story I keep rewriting ends up sounding like a clone to another story out there (mostly Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and Mega Man) or it ends up being really cliche. So that point I'm trying to get to is, should story in video games matter? And if anyone could give out advice as well on story telling would be much appreciated. P.S. The game I have in concept is a Sonic Rush/Unleashed Clone with a heavier emphasis of multiple pathways and speed, hence the multiple endings/levels.

  10. Is there ever a game you played that was bad that it was worth playing just for some laughs with friends or by yourself? Or do you ever buy/rent bad games you know will suck but you buy them anyway just for entertainment? Like watching bad movies that are so bad they are enjoyable. That kind of thing. Sonic 06 is one for me. Oh boy it's bad but I always find myself going back to it on random occasions just for a laugh. I may even consider Mindjack after what i've heard from it.
  11. Haven't seen many topics on this series so I thought I’d go ahead and make one. Whats your favourite game in the series, favourite characters, moments, cases, anything. Let us chat about it. Major spoilers I suggest being hidden if possible. Hard to do for games like this I understand. I myself recently have purchased the 3 games in the Phoenix Wright trilogy on the DS and Miles Edgeworth Investigations. Cost a lot of money but i’m loving this series a lot so far. I’ve finished the first game and now i’m currently on the second game. I like it so far. Episode 2's plot is really good.
  12. We all know what the hell this one is, being the world's most popular MMO and all, and in all likelihood there's a fair few people here who like to spend their time on Azeroth. Here we can share all our tales from our adventures, whines about how your class always gets the nerfed to the ground, Cataclysm freakout, links to random crap, heated debates on whether conjured strudels taste better than chocolate cake, marvel at the glory of Epicus Maximus and naturally discuss general news. And let's not do the whole inane Alliance vs Horde here, orcs and humans can frolic hand in hand in love here. (I'm aware there is a millennia-old topic about Cataclysm in the dusts of history here but after a discussion with one of the resident awesomemods here, we came to the decision that it's best to start the whole thing from scratch rather than resurrect an old corpse and twist it to a new shape) In an attempt to start discussion: anyone doing something special now that Cataclysm is about to explode the world? Any last minute attempts at experiencing everything the Old World has to offer before it all gets changed, or are you just living your daily lives? And come Cataclysm, what's everyone's plans? Rolling a worgoblin immediately, enjoying the new race/class combinations instead or checking the new high-level content at first. ************ I've got my main, a dwarf hunter, running around the Old World doing various achievements. I became best buddies with the bears of Timbermaw Hold some time ago, after which I began to volley-spam through dungeons in order to get Classic Dungeonmaster. I finished that earlier this week, after which I went insane and started doing Loremaster. I'm currently nearly finishing Eastern Kingdoms with about 140 quests to do and several zones to find quests from, after which I'll head to Kalimdor where I have significantly more to do. Of course, I am being distracted by my two focus alts at the moment. I've got a draenei paladin currently in Outland where she's busy killing things in One Of The Best Places In The Game (or Nagrand) and I'm absolutely addicted to playing as her, bloody fun. Then there's my human mage who's 77 and who I'm trying to get to 80 before Cata and who's having significantly less fun doing so because after playing with the paladin the frostbolt-frostbolt-frostbolt-frostbolt-ice lance-frostbolt-frostbolt-frostbolt rotation is rather tedious. And leveling tailoring is a pain. Come Cata, I've no idea really what to start with. I'm going to roll a worgen (rogue) but I might wait till the first rush is over and instead just focus on the high-level content at first. Eventually I'll be creating a dwarf shaman as well for three reasons: 1) I want to see more of the old world's changes that my worgen didn't get the chance to see 2) because I have a tauren shaman who I love but never play with so I might as well roll another shammy, and 3) I'll probably be racechanging my dwarf main into a worgen eventually (<.<) so I'd like to have another little man. Anyway, your turn. Discuss whatever, the choice is yours.
  13. Tired of googling "SSMB ______" just to see whether someone's posted a topic about a certain game or concept that you'd like to talk about with fans? Tired of sifting through the forum topic history just to find a certain post you or someone else might or might not have made on a certain something you've been stewing over in your overstimulated head? Stop! You've reached your one-stop destination for everything that comes to your mind as far as Sonic Game Ideas run!! Welcome to the hub where you can feel free to share your wishes, ideas, dreams, concepts and ambitions for future games in the Sonic Franchise be they game mechanics, characters, games, genres or what have you! Have fun!! ______________________________________________________________ Blaze the Cat's 3D Gameplay (specific to individual Adventure style storylines and the like) If Blaze were to be properly featured in a Next Gen Game, I'd like her gameplay to be somewhat parkour-centric with a slight focus on speed. Everyone is essentially lumped into one carbon copy gameplay mechanic more often than not latley, but I stick to the Adventure series and the like's method of defining how those individual characters actually play. I like a bit of variety in Sonic gameplay as long as it isn't something as painfully against the grain as Big's fishing levels were. SA2 had a pretty great sense of innovation as far as really fleshing out and establishing diverse characters while still maintaining the fun. The only setback I saw out of that was in the mech levels, but I think that was mostly because of the gaming in and of itself in addition to the fact that people wanted to play as Tails himself rather than the fact that mechs in general were being used. Getting back to Blaze, I think the material for helping defining her as a character even capable of holding her own game is already there. SEGA I think does a pretty great job at setting in stone, even at the base level, what these characters are capable of and what they do even if we don't see it brought to life as much in the actual gameplay. in the opening of Silver's 06, we see Silver shoot off in a green comet. Afterwards, we don't see Blaze jump up and follow Human Torch style. We see her bound from building top to building top and she's soon out of sight. Looking back at it, I thought that was a very charming touch and it only reinforces the ideas surrounding her signature gameplay that I already have. I'd like to see Blaze with a reasonably quick play speed, but a fairly grand and wide open level at least as far as aesthetics go. When playing other games, styles and features that stand out to me in this right are those of Mirror's Edge and Infamous: Second Son. As far as Mirror's Edge goes, the entire aesthetic and appeal of that game is one that I would attribute almost directly to Blaze character at least as far as a game or gameplay would go. The slightly abstract appeal, the strong-yet-gentle soundtrack, the level setup...it all goes to enhance the depth of that specific character. As far as the latter of these two inspirations goes, I think the appeal is a bit more obvious (if not understandable) in the use of the elements to further oneself in the levels particularly and perhaps primarily in the use of fire. As agile and platform-able as Blaze is, her primary and chief feature are her flames. Those same flames that caused her so much grief in her childhood are actually her greatest feature in this right. Her potential and abilities with this part of her character I think have been largely underdeveloped and underused. The flame boost is cool, but is that really all there is? Understandably, the gameplay style didn't really help facilitate any incorporation further than that, but I think that's a problem. Outside of Rush and its affiliates, I think that part of her character should be taken advantage of. Meld together the capabilities and mechanic of Second Son with the level-run style of Mirror's Edge's psuedo-open world layout and I think you'd have a good idea of the gameplay style I'm talking about. If it's still a bit unclear, then to put it in the most crude and unrefined manner: take the kid from Second Son and stick him in Mirror's Edge or rather, take the the game Second Son and trade the level layouts out for Mirror's Edge's. I assume it would work the same as if I just said "Have a 3rd person perspecive Faith play 80% like Deslin (Second Son Main Character) 20% like herself and 60% faster. Bundle all of that up and soak it for a week in good old Sonic style gameplay and you've got the general gist. There are ways to really capitalize on her extreme speed and individual character traits and make her really stand out on her own without deviating ridiculously far from the "female Sonic" dynamic, of course if that's still a concern, even if the only way to define that is "playing like Sonic".
  14. Since we lost the original Club Nintendo topic, I decided to make another one. Club Nintendo is a rewards program for people who support Nintendo's products and services, you get points for registering a code included on a slip with Nintendo games (DS,3DS,Wii, Wii U) and with various hardware (DS,DSi,3DS,3DS XL,Wii,Wii U) the points are measured in "Stars" (UK) and "Coins" (US & JPN) The number of Stars/Coins you get vary from product to product, a game normally nets you 250 Stars where as a console can net you from 400 to 750 stars. You use your accumulated Coins/Stars to purchase Club Nintendo exclusive goodies such as physical limited edition goods like stationary sets, soundtrack CD's, Keychains, Plush toys and even Downloadable games. Each item varies in price. Currently Club Nintendo won't be around for much longer as they're closing the rewards program in September for good so if you've got any remaining points be sure to spend them up before then! Be warned though as they still have plenty of time to add new goods to the stores so save your currency wisely or you might miss out on some great gems... Nintendo promise that the rewards system isn't scrapped for good though, as they're in the process of announcing and bringing us a "new" rewards system some time in the future that will be an improvement over the original CN. P.S UK CN users, Nintendo have just listed a bunch of downloadable games on their star's catalogue so give it a look, the prices for some of the games are laughable though.
  15. So, I thought of making this topic a while ago but never did. I saw that a couple people were working on fan games, so I figured, why not. This isn't much of a game development forum but I know you guys all like games, so for us here who are making them, would probably love to show you! So onto the basics of this thread, rules and such: To people posting projects; you must have a screenshot, video, and or music piece to show! (if it's music it must be apart of the game you're making or the team you're in's game) No requests for help unless you you have something to show and even then keep that to a minimum. When posting screenshots, videos, etc. It must be your own project! Give credit where credit is due and don't post claiming your making a project you're not! If someone gives you negative feedback, don't lash out at them. Think about why they may have those thoughts try to improve. To people posting critique and feedback: It doesn't have to be positive but keep it nice! If something to you feels wrong with a person's game or you encountered a glitch or just something you don't like, don't be afraid to tell them but don't be rude about it. Lets keep a good vibe. Now because you don't like something doesn't mean it's bad and if the creator feels it's not a problem it's not your place to tell them otherwise, even if it's a glitch or bad design. If it's something thats morally wrong or against the rules, please report them, instead of taking it into your own hands. It makes the topic more enjoyable to read. With that out of the way, I guess I should show my project!... Sonic Reboot: First Development Video, Features Knuckles first gameplay: Elemental Shields! Screenshots!
