  2. Figured this would keep the other topic from de-railing. I wasn't going to post this originally because there wasn't anything to back it up. But after doing some looking, especially into the active LinkedIn profiles... something seems off. Earlier today, by accident, I met up with some people, one of which knows how the industry works and knows how Sega and outsourcing works VERY well, I won't mention their name but I think they've been very vocal on this matter so it's probably not hidden information, however due to the fact it was a personal conversation figure I shouldn't name them. So if you don't like this kind of thing stop reading now. The claim/rumour was this. "Sanzaru are in fact a really small company, they're not a huge studio. But they've got several big projects going on, and some of them clearly have more focus than others. For instance, there is this VR Sports Challenge project which Sanzaru are heavily invested in, so much so in fact that development from other projects including Boom have been transferred over to the VR Sports Challenge project. Sanzaru are so heavily invested in the VR stuff that Boom Fire & Ice is now running on a skeleton to nothing development team. Sanzaru have not been actively developing or working on Fire & Ice for several months now. This is why Boom 2 has not been at any trade shows, why there has been no second trailer, why there has been no new information, and oddly, why there was no new media to accompany the delay announcement, because Sanzaru are not working/only have a small skeleton crew working on Boom 2." Wow... that's quite... quite a claim. Well I've not looked too deeply into this yet because... I'm really tired, I've been out all day and I'm really tired... however I have done some work so if anyone wants to check it out feel free to take a look at what I've got and see if you can find anything. How many people are working at Sanzaru? According to LinkedIn, Sanzaru has between 11 - 50 staff, which... isn't a lot, even Big Red Button had more during ROL's development. So let's take a look at the profiles of those who are currently at Sanzaru and see who is working on Boom or who has Boom listed on their profile. At their own website, they don't have a "Team photo" like BRB do, but they do have a lot of office/development team pics, the largest one shows around 20 people in one room. Linked In Profiles Here are the number of people who say they're working on Boom 2 Fire & Ice.... ... .. ... .There aren't any.... ... ... That's not great. In fact, out of all the profiles that are on there, nobody on there lists working on Shattered Crystal either, but what's really odd, is a lot of them do list VR development or strongly hint at being involved in some kind of VR based game or list their current project as being something which blatantly isn't a platform game, let alone a handheld title. Some of the people on there came in long after Boom 2 started development and you guessed it, they went into the VR development. What is this VR Challenge thing? You know... I'm not sure. But it seems to be Sanzaru are trying to make some kind of VR game which is supposed to be some kind of revolutionary new kind of VR system which is going to make it a lot easier for people to use VR and make it more accessible in the future. Buzz words like the arcade or Wii of VR are used a lot. How long have they been at it for? Again it's not clear... but guess when they've been promoting it? Yup, during Boom 2's apparent development. Articles going back to June 2015 talk about the VR project (http://www.maximumpc.com/e3-sanzaru-games-talks-vr-sports-challenge-video/ ) , with no mention of any other games being worked on. Then there was more news about it 3 days ago ( http://vrfocus.com/archives/21595/sanzaru-games-talks-vr-sports-challenge-oculus-touch-support-and-more/ )... which was barely a day after Boom 2's delay news. In fact, it seems like there have been several games in the VR project: http://www.polygon.com/2015/6/11/8767053/oculus-rift-vr-games-lineup When they went to E3 this year, what were they promoting? Yup, the VR sports challenge, not Boom 2 or ANY of their other projects, the only reason they talked to TSS about Boom 2 is because our guy went over and asked them directly about it. ==== Ok so..... I'm quite tired now, and really don't wanna look into this more right now, maybe later, but unless anyone can find something which totally disproves this, and I'm open to all theories/sources, would this not make sense/explain why this game has been so quiet and absent in terms of material? Because Sanzaru haven't been working on it? The accusation/rumour is that they've pulled a Gearbox on Sega, now I had hoped that some of the linkedin pages would list either Boom 2 or some kind of platforming, but there is nothing, and every time I search for Sanzaru in news, all I get is this VR thing and how the company is focused on that. What do you think?
  3. According to a blog post on Sega's website, they want to make it a "stronger, more enjoyable experience". Here's an article, for your reading pleasure: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/09/3ds_exclusive_sonic_boom_fire_and_ice_slips_into_next_year
