  1. I stumbled across an account on YT that was marked "For Kids" and goes back 12 years of dozens and dozens of videos about Disneyland rides and attractions.

And then randomly there are two of the official music videos for Bubblegum Crisis, a hard "R" OVA series from the late 80s.

And then after that, dozens and dozens more videos about Disneyland rides and attractions.

  5. Okay I haven't watched the Tangled tv show at all because it seems like something that'd mostly be filler and weak villains/storytelling, but introducing an anti-healing power to Rapunzel's hair is pretty crazy

First of all, Nintendo isn't the one to blame for Sonic Team's incompetence that they've developed by themselves, Nintendo or not. (Then again, I feel the time they spent on the Wii with Colors before had inspired them to make less powerful Sonic games from then onward using all the spec saving shortcuts they've there. Maybe it is Nintendo's fault)

Second, I still stand by my belief that Sonic Team could make a better Mario game than Nintendo could make a Sonic game.

Because Sonic Team/SEGA has been knocking it out of the park this past decade, right?

"They might make a great game, but not a good *Sonic* game."

At least they would make a great game. Recent Sonic games suck both as Sonic games, and games in general.

I'm not one of the people who was ever on board with OMG SELL SONIC TO NINTENDO!!!! but I don't get what LW has to do with it. I don't think Nintendo had any involvement with the game beyond (presumably) supplying some of the resources for the Yoshi/Zelda levels.

    5. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

This is a really bad argument. It doesn't mean that the conclusion is wrong per se (I agree that Sonic shouldn't be sold off to Nintendo) but the argument itself here is the dumbest shit.

      1. Nintendo juggle franchises however they see fit. Only the niche entries get pushed aside, and it's unlikely Sonic would be one.

      2. The fuck did Nintendo have to do with Lost World

    6. Strickerx5

      Strickerx5

As a salty KI fan I agree with the “it getting pushed aside” bit.

We all like to believe that Sonic carries more weight to him in the industry but I swear, the very moment one of his games doesn’t perform as well as Nintendo would like, it’d be over. At least with Sega they’re kind of stuck with trying to get the series to work because it’s still very much one of their few crowd gatherers. Nintendo wouldn’t need to worry about anything.

    7. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

@Strickerx5 Is Kid Icarus even pushed to the side? It's barely even a series. There were two relatively niche games in '86 and 91, and a third game with totally different everything some 20-odd years later. KIU didn't break 2 million in sales, IIRC. Not bad in its own, but also not exactly great food what was supposed to be a big reboot for the classic franchise. Nintendo typically invests so much time and money into their projects that they need to perform well to continue.

And whilst I can't speak for anyone else, I'm personally well aware of the fact that Sonic hasn't been a big hitter in the industry for quite some time. It's been a decade at least, but Sonic had been steadily slipping down into the depths of irrelevancy every since the mid-2000s. In the hands of another developer, Sonic might well be able to thrive if said developer wasn't as short-sighted or lacking in respect as SEGA is.

"Sonic should be sold to Nintendo" is a dumb thing to say because Nintendo doesn't want Sonic. But that's really all their is to it. If a company isn't interested in a product, they're not going to do anything with it.

    8. Strickerx5

      Strickerx5

It’s hard for me to put my bias behind me here but I’d say yes.

KIU did very well for a game that came out on a system that, at the time, was still trying to find its place in the market. Add in how it was a niche franchise coming back after a decade long absence and if it is its sales figures holding back a sequel then that’s pretty ridiculous. Since when was 1.5 million for a relatively unknown franchise considered by anyone to be bad?  Not to mention the amount of games they make that don’t even hit that mark yet still get sequels.

You know how the series could reach those high sales marks? Release a sequel at a console’s prime and actually treat it like its an ip you care about. Worked wonders with FE.

That’s part of the reason why I’m hesitant about the whole idea of Nintendo getting Sonic or any other franchise really. They already don’t treat a good amount of the properties they do own well. I’d rather not take the chance.

I’m not sure what the point about the Dr. Stone anime is, I heard nothing but praise for it before the dub release, and it’s one of the few animes I really loved this past year.

    3. TCB

      TCB

That's the first kind of critique I heard of that kind about Dr.STONE. I guess I can see how point in how the art in the anime couldn't really reflect its manga counterpart more to really put across the scientific advancements, but even then I heard next to no one really make that a slight against it. I also thought that, least among westerners that the anime and manga were standouts of the genre last year for deviating from the usual tropes of shonen while putting their own spin on it with the world they built around them.

Boichi's art has some of the best stuff I've seen in a while; and yet I feel the studio did a great job putting their own flair on it while still reminding faithful to the source material.

Man it didn't dawn on me to that level of hype Demon Slayer and Promised Neverland really had after their perspective anime adaptations. ESPECIALLY Neverland. So happy it has been getting the recognition it much definitely ddeserves.

A bit stiff in a few areas but this is honestly really fucking cool. Already outshines some of ST's most recent efforts in a number of areas.

Gotta love how far the fan game side of the community as progressed with 3D. Now if we could finally start seeing some actual levels take form (and not just some massive debug playground for gameplay testing), we'd really be moving.

  13. I'm ashamed that I had to resort to cheap tactics to beat the Death Egg as Knuckles.

I remember the final boss being harder since Knuckles doesn't jump as high. He also sometimes falls into the Death Egg Robot instead of bouncing off it after a hit.

…….So I saved after each hit and reloaded when his hitbox nukes me. -_-

    1. Harkofthewaa

      Harkofthewaa

Don't feel too bad about it, that fight as Knuckles is just bad. To be fair on the part of the developers, they really could not have seen that seen that coming back in 1992. A word of advice for the future: only jump to hit him when he lands after a jump, then spindash away to get away from his spike launching attack. He only does it every other time he lands, so keep that in mind. Whatever you do, don't get behind him. You're basically dead if you do.

  14. I was reminded why I didn't like crunch concerts very much. Ugh, hope that's the last time I have to go to one of those for school.

  15. Beat Dragon Quest V for the first time! Always get lost in the third generation. xD

  16. The studio that redesigned sonic did the sonic movie a heroic sacrifice. (Been reading tvtropes too much)

  17. "Sonic Defeats Harrison Ford" is now a tag at Sonic Stadium.

I mean, it's weird, because I'm somewhat was considering watching "Call of the Wild" mostly for Harrison's role, though with this I would be neutral helping the Sonic movie. (1 ticket for both sides aren't a profit for them).

But talking about the tag, now imagine Sonic battling with Han Solo and/or Indiana Jones.

  18. The Lakers won 114-112 against the Celtics!

There were a few instances of bullshit, but I still had a great time with my Dad

  19. So the Sonic movie has gotten to 200 mil he? I bet Sony is feeling pretty stupid right now. Then again given their track record the movie would have probably sucked for real if it had stayed with them.

    1. Polkadi~☆

      Polkadi~☆

Maybe Sony would have kept the design more faithful. Sure, The Smurfs sucks, but the designs aren't horrific abominations that scare children.

Wouldn't have been as good as what we got, though.

  20. I would take a life size Cinderace plush if there was one. :3

  21. I kinda wish the SEGA AGES Version of Sonic 2 would've at least made it so that the music of Hill Top doesn't get cut out by the sound effects.

  22. you ever finish a game and you're like "oh..." after the credits roll?

Kinda wanted more out of Metal Gear Rising. Having it end sucked.

  23. It occurs to me that the Wii U never got ports of Skyrim or Sonic 1. I'm pretty sure that de-classifies it as being a video game console altogether.

(Wii VC backwards compatibility for Sonic 1 doesn't count)

    1. blueblur98

      blueblur98

it also doesn't have a port of rayman 2. (unless you count the game boy advance version of rayman 3 which is basically rayman 2 with a few elements from the actual rayman 3 tossed in rather haphazardly but there's still no true port of the original rayman 2 on it)

    2. Harkofthewaa
