  1. So I've seen several of you say around here that you want gameplay like that of the Genesis games, but in full 3d. How would you go about implementing it? Myself, I think it is not that hard to do, but I see one problem: -At the speed Sonic goes, it would be extremely hard to bounce on enemies in 3d unless you had some kind of homing attack (which pretty much goes against the Genesis formula). Any ideas? Discuss?
  2. I really can't stand all of these 2D Platformers coming out in recent times. For one, most of them don't offer anything new besides a gimmick, which is interesting at times, but get boring quick. On top of that, these retro callbacks have really overstayed their welcome. Back when Megaman 9 and Bionic Commando: Rearmed came out, these games we're interesting, fun, and nostalgic. But now, because it's all we see, it seems like all the devs are becoming lazy and focusing too much to catering to old gamers. And while there still is some 3D platformers, do I need to mention that literally 90% of them are just 2D platformers in 3D?! Games like Super Mario 3D Land/World and Sonic Lost World are just 2D platformers in 3D. Similar stage design, boring level tropes, very small scope, linear stages, unappealing visuals, not a lot of "wow" factor, very underwhelming (especially compared to gems like Super Mario 64 and Sonic Adventure) There's no worlds to explore or objectives to do, two key factors to 3D platformers. This is why the 6th generation of gaming was the best in my eyes because they had a slew of interesting 3D platformers that capitalized on what the 5th generation brought us. They had worlds to explore, objectives to complete, basically having more, oh I don't know, EFFORT! All the 3D platformer goodness that we got from the last generations are slowly fading and I don't see them making a return sadly. So all in all, the platformer genre is getting really boring because they just keep doing the same shit they've been doing for decades now. I'm getting really sick of this trend and it needs to stop.
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNQj4IAPKKM At last, a reason to own a New Nintendo 3DS is on the horizon! Blasting onto the souped-up handheld in April is Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, a handheld remake of the critically acclaimed and notoriously difficult-to-buy-at-a-reasonable price RPG from the Wii. Developed by Monolith Soft, this game sees our hero Shulk - aka "that new guy from Smash Bros who fights in his underwear sometimes" - wielding the power of the Monado, a legendary blade that allows him to foresee the events of the future... As well as all 70+ hours of this staggering adventure crammed into one teeny tiny New 3DS cartridge, the remake will also include a Collection mode where you can view 3D models of the characters and listen to the soundtrack in the Jukebox. If you're one of the lucky three people in the entire world to have gotten your hands on a Shulk amiibo, you can use it to get extra tokens which you can use to unlock goodies in the Collection mode. If not... play coins are the currency of the day, so get off your butt and start walking! (or cave in and pay scalper prices on Ebay) Oh, and you can also get these sweet Monado cover plates for the standard New 3DS (sorry, America!) There's just a few weeks to go now so let's discuss our expectations and anticipation for this handheld remake, or reminisce about the original in the lead-up to its release! I'm feeling it. Are you feeling it? Shulk... he's REALLY FEELING IT.
  4. Hey Everyone! I just wanted to announce that SUU, is back in full swing, with a new 3d engine to boot! INFO For those who are wondering, SUU is a 3D animated fan-made sonic series, that is set in the timeline of sonic unleashed. The story is basically a different take on the unleashed storyline, with the story focusing on events that happen during sonic's journey around the globe. This miniseries was originally started back in 2013, but all of the data was lost due to my computer breaking. Recently, I have picked back up the project, and I am starting again, hoping that I can make this a phenominal series. 3D STUFF Originally, SUU was being developed in source-filmmaker, but the problem with using it, is that it trades convinience for quality, in other words: Sfm is easy to animate with, but the quality isnt that good. So the project has recently been ported to blender, in order to acheive the same quality look as a real series would have here is an example of blender's quality with the series: http://sonicfandude1.deviantart.com/art/ITS-BACK-BABY-544459843?ga_submit_new=10%253A1436197433 (sorry for the wierd grainy parts of the image) HELP WANTED!!!! I want this project to be the absolute best that it can be, but in order to do that, I'm gonna need alot of help... and I mean alot VOICE ACTORS So for this series, its going to feature most of the sonic crew, with lots of memorable faces throughout sonics history, and in order to add all of these characters, I'm going to need a few voice actors to help out with things. So if you are able to voice any of the following characters, please reply to the forum, or email me at "josh4taylor@gmail.com" voices needed: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Chip, Werehog, Espio, Charmy, Vector, Shadow, Blaze, Jet the hawk, Eggman That's all the info I have for now, but stay tuned for more news, and maybe even a trailer.... Also, if you have any questions, reply, or email me at "josh4taylor@gmail.com" SEE YA!
  5. Sonic World (maybe that's kind of generic, if you can think of anything better, let me know) is a game where you travel the various islands of a mysterious continent on planet Mobius. World design would be set up similarly to Jak and Daxter games, where you can enter each world seamlessly. Also, hi, I'm new to the forums. It's just a rough, but I am at bad internet connection and I don't have UDK 3 or SGDK downloaded to test it out. Anyone mind throwing this into Sonic GDK? Those trees have animations btw. I can make rocks and other what-nots in a millisecond, so if you're interested in helping, let me know. I'm using this as a test project to aid my level design in a game that I am working on with some friends of mine. Mocha Island/Province (will later connect to a different island/level, or multiple) Sonic's view Here's Mocha Island https://www.mediafire.com/?pdnpobnj978fas3 Here's the tree in case you'd like to place in SGDK https://www.mediafire.com/?pdnpobnj978fas3 I'll update this post if there is some interest for it.
